IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: When using electric tools, machines or equipment, basic safety
precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of re, electric shock,
and personal injury.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS TOOL
1. KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN. Cluttered areas invite injuries.
2. CONSIDER WORK AREA ENVIRONMENT. Don’t use power tools in damp,
wet, or poorly lit locations. Don’t expose your tool to rain. Keep the work area
well lit. Don’t use tools in the presence of ammable gases or liquids.
3. KEEP CHILDREN AND BYSTANDERS AWAY. All children should be kept
away from the work area. Don’t let them handle machines, tools or exten-
sions cords. Visitors can be a distraction and are difcult to protect from
injury.
4. GROUNDED TOOLS must be plugged into an outlet that itself is properly
installed and grounded. Grounding provided a low-resistance path to carry
electricity to ground away from the operator, should the tool malfunction elec-
trically. Do not remove the grounding prong from the plug or alter the plug in
any way. If in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded according
to code, check with a qualied electrician.
5. OBSERVE PROPER PRECAUTIONS REGARDING DOUBLE INSULATION.
This tool is double insulated. It is equipped with a polarized plug. One blade
is wider than the other, so it will t into a polarized outlet only one way. If you
have difculty inserting the plug, try reversing it. If it still doesn’t t , do not
alter the plug; have a qualied electrician install a polarized outlet.
6. GUARD AGAINST ELECTRIC SHOCK. Prevent body contact with grounded
surfaces: pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerator enclosures. When your
body is grounded the risk of electric shock increases. When working wherev-
er “live” electrical wires may be encountered, try to ascertain whether there is
a danger of shock. Even so, DO NOT TOUCH ANY METAL PARTS OF THE
TOOL while using it. Hold the tool only by the plastic grip to prevent electric
shock if you contact a live wire.
7. DO NOT ABUSE THE CORD. Never carry your sander by the cord or pull
on the cord to unplug it. Protect the cord from potential sources of damage:
heat, oil & solvents, sharp edges, or moving parts. Replace damaged cords
immediately.
8. WHEN WORKING OUTDOORS, USE AN OUTDOOR-RATED EXTENSION
CORD. An extension cord rated for outdoor use must be marked “W-A” or “W”.
9. DO NOT EXPOSE ELECTRICAL POWER TOOLS TO MOISTURE. Rain or
wet conditions can cause water to enter the tool and lead to electric shock.
10. ENSURE THE EXTENSION CORD YOU USE IS OF SUFFICIENT GAUGE
FOR ITS LENGTH.

11. STORE IDLE EQUIPMENT. Store equipment in a dry area to inhibit rust.
Equipment also should be in a high location or locked up to keep out of reach
of children.
12. DON’T FORCE THE TOOL. It will do the job better and more safely at the
rate for which it was intended.
13. USE THE RIGHT TOOL. Don’t force a small tool or attachment to do the
work of a larger industrial tool. Don’t use a tool for a purpose for which it was
not intended.
14. DRESS PROPERLY. Don’t wear loose clothing or jewelry; they can be caught
in moving parts. Protective, non-electrically conductive gloves and non-skid
footwear are recommended when working. Wear protective hair covering to
contain long hair and keep it from harm.

15. USE EYE PROTECTION. Use a full-face mask if the work you’re doing
produces metal lings, dust or wood chips. Goggles are acceptable in other
situations. Wear a clean dust mask if the work involves creating a lot of ne
or coarse dust.
16. SECURE WORK. Use clamps or a vise to hold the work. It’s safer than using
your hands and it frees both hands to operate the tool.
17. DON’T OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not
reach over or across machines that are running.
18. MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and
safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and safe performance.

dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
19. AVOID UNINTENTIONAL STARTING. Be sure the switch is in the OFF posi-
tion before plugging in.
20. ALWAYS CHECK AND MAKE SURE TO REMOVE ANY ADJUSTING KEYS
OR WRENCHES before turning the tool on. Left attached, these parts can
y off a rotating part and result in personal injury.
21. DO NOT USE THE TOOL IF IT CANNOT BE SWITCHED ON OR OFF.
Have your tool repaired before using it.
22. DISCONNNECT THE PLUG FROM POWER BEFORE MAKING ANY AD-
JUSTMENTS. Changing attachments or accessories can be dangerous if
the tool could accidentally start.
23. STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing & use common sense. Don’t oper-
ate any tool when you are tired.
24. CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS. Before using this tool, any part that is
damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate prop-
erly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts,
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mountings, and other conditions
that may affect its operation. Inspect screws and tighten any ones that are
loose. Any part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by
an authorized service center unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in the in-
struction manual. Have defective switches replaced by an authorized service
center. Don’t use the tool if switch does not turn it on and off properly.
25. REPLACEMENT PARTS. When servicing, use only identical replacement
parts.
26. SERVICE AND REPAIRS should be made by qualied repair technicians at
an authorized repair centre. Improperly repaired tools could cause serious
shock or injury
HOLD TOOL BY THE INSULATED GRIPPING SURFACES WHEN PER-
FORMING AN OPERATION WHERE THE CUTTING TOOL MAY CONTACT
HIDDEN WIRING OR ITS OWN CORD. Contact with a “live” wire will make
exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator.
HOLD THE TOOL FIRMLY WITH BOTH HANDS on the hand grips.
MAKE SURE THE BELT IS NOT CONTACTING THE WORKPIECE BE-
FORE THE TOOL IS TURNED ON.
KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM ROTATING PARTS.
DO NOT LEAVE THE TOOL RUNNING with the trigger locked. Operate it
only when hand held. Before plugging the tool in, be sure the trigger is “Off”.
THIS TOOL IS NOT DESIGNED FOR USE WITH WATER OR FOR WET
SANDING.
USE SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS WHEN SANDING MATERIALS IMPREG-
NATED OR COATED WITH TOXIC CHEMICALS EITHER AS A PRESER-
VATIVE OR LEAD-BASED PAINTS. Use appropriate breathing apparatus
and skin covering. Take precautions as well to prevent contamination of the
environment with dust containing these persistent toxins. Check with your
material supplier as to any possible toxicity.

OPERATING PROCEDURES
SWITCH
CAUTION: Before plugging the tool in, squeeze the trigger once and release it
to be sure the trigger is “Off” and not locked “On”.
CAUTION: Be sure the belt is not in contact with the workpiece when starting
the tool.
Lift the tool off the workpiece, with one hand holding the handle at the front
and the other grasping the handle at the rear.
Squeeze the trigger in the rear handle with your index nger to start the tool.
Release it to stop.
To lock the trigger in the “On” position, press the small round button on the
left side of the rear handle with your thumb at the same time as the trigger is
squeezed fully with your index nger.
REMOVING, INSTALLING, and ADJUSTING BELTS
WARNING: To prevent injury, always switch off and disconnect the tool from
power source before removing or installing the sanding belt.
1. Pull the belt tension lever from the right side of the sander and move it to-
wards the front of the machine. This pulls the idler (front) pulley back. The old
belt can be slid easily off the pulleys.
2. Check that the new 3"x 21" belt’s direction arrow (usually printed on the in-
side fabric backing of the belt) matches the direction of belt travel on the tool.
The belt will move from the front to the back on the bottom, exposed surface
of the tool. A belt installed backwards will not work as efciently and have a
shortened life.
3. Slide a 3"x 21" abrasive belt over the front and back pulleys and line it up
so that it is as close to centered, with as little overhang as possible on both
sides at both the front idler pulley and at the back drive pulley.
4. Push the tension lever back into the closed position. Take care not to pinch
your ngers. The belt is clamped in place.
5. Be sure the switch is off. Plug the tool in. The following may be easier if the
tool is held upside down, resting on a bench. Do not let the abrasive belt
contact anything.
6. Squeeze the trigger and run the tool slowly. If the belt starts to move to the
left or right off the pulleys, the tracking should be adjusted. This can be done
by turning the tracking knob at the front left side of the tool. Turning the
knob one way causes the belt to track toward the left. If you turn the knob
the other way, the belt will track toward the right. Adjust until belt runs in the
center without touching the housing on the left side of the tool or running off
the pulleys on the right. The belt should not be more than 6 mm (1/4") away
from the edge of the bottom plate. If the belt touches the housing, fraying and
shortened belt life as well as damage to the housing will result.
7. After running a new belt on a work piece for a short time, the tracking may
need more adjustment.

OPERATING PROCEDURES
DUST BAG
Fit the dust bag over the dust port on the left side of the sander near the rear
handle. Dust extraction is most efcient if the bag is emptied whenever it reaches
half full. Once in a while, it may be benecent to turn the bag inside out and
thoroughly clean it with a brush.
CAUTION: Do not use this sander without some form of dust collection.
SANDING
1. Secure the work piece well. It will tend to move toward the operator while the
sander is running in contact with the surface.
2. Hold the tool rmly with both hands on the hand grips. When the belt comes
in contact with the work surface, the tool will tend to pull itself forward quite
strongly. To prevent damage to the material and the belt, never start the
sander while the belt is in contact with the work surface.
3. Turn the tool on and let it come up to speed.
4. Gently lower it keeping the bottom plate roughly parallel with the surface.
5. Begin moving the sander forward. Drop the back very slightly so the belt
contacts the work surface rst at the rear, the heel of the sander. Continue to
move the tool forward as you bring the belt into full contact with the surface.
Use only very light downward pressure, if any.
6. Move the tool back. Continue this back and forth motion in overlapping
strokes while sanding. This helps provide an even surface. Avoid putting
weight on the tool as its own weight is usually sufcient. Too much weight can
result in gouging and burning the surface, overloading the motor, and having
the work piece kick back.
7. When sanding a rough wooden surface, placing the sander a slight angle to
the grain, using a coarse grit, while moving the sander itself back and forth
with the grain, may help speed stock removal. The same technique can be
carried on through the medium grits. On the nishing grits, the sander should
be oriented with the grain.
8. When nished sanding, lift the sander off the surface before releasing the
trigger.
NOTE:
Sanding direction is not critical on most materials other than wood, since
grain direction is not a concern.
Sanding ush against a perpendicular surface is possible along the right side
of the tool.
Use a grade of sandpaper that will make ner marks than those already on the
surface. Too coarse a grade will not make the surface smoother while too ne a
grade will remove scratches too slowly, or not at all. Continue using ner grades
of sandpaper until you obtain the desired nish.
When removing old paint, determine how much paint really needs to be
removed. Consider that old paint may well be toxic and will have to be treated
with the respect due any toxic material both on the part of the tool operator and
on the part of the environment. Wear appropriate breathing protection and
dispose carefully of dust or chips left after sanding could be tracked throughout
residences and release toxins into the soil. Use the provided dust bag as well.
A nish that is cracking or aking has to be taken off, but a nish that is still rmly
attached can be “roughed up” and painted over with primer and the new nish.
Always lightly sand the undercoat with ne grade sandpaper before applying the
top coat.

MAINTENANCE
Keep the vents clear of dust and debris. This will help prevent possible
electrical shorts and ensure proper cooling.
Keep the tool housing clean and free of oil and grease using mild soap and a
damp (not wet) cloth.
Avoid overloading your sander. It will become hot and lose efciency.
Running it free of load for a minute or two will allow it to cool itself to normal
temperature.
Inspect the cord regularly and have it replaced by an authorized repair facility
if it is damaged.
Lubrication for this tool is done at the factory and should not be necessary
again under normal use.
An authorized repair centre should do any repairs, modication, or
maintenance that involve disassembling the tool.
Any damage to the tool should be corrected at an authorized repair centre.

WARRANTY
ITC branded power tools, air nailers staplers and compressors are designed
for use in DIY (do-it-yourself), light or intermittent duty, semi-professional
applications. They are not intended for use in professional, production, industrial
or continual use applications.
ITC makes every effort to ensure that its products meet high quality and
durability standards and are warranted for two years against manufacturers’
faults and defects for a period of two years from the date of purchase to the
original owner. ITC will REPAIR OR REPLACE (at our discretion) merchandise
deemed by the company to be defective, provided that it is has not been
misused, abused, altered, or repaired by anyone other than an authorized repair
centre.
Please consult the ITC catalogue or your nearest ITC distributor to determine
those products that are covered by our over-the counter warranty. Any ITC
tool that fails during normal use and within the specied warranty period and
qualies for over-the counter warranty must be returned to its point of purchase
for replacement or credit. Any item not listed as over-the-counter warranty must
be shipped, prepaid freight, to an authorized repair depot accompanied by a
copy of the invoice specifying the date that the item was purchased. Returned
tools that are not accompanied by a proof of purchase (Copy of Invoice) will not
be repaired or replaced under warranty.
This warranty does not extend to normal wear or consumable parts such as brad
and staple gun driver blades, grinding discs, saw blades, driver bits, electric
motor brushes, worn chords, etc. It also does not apply to ITC tools used in
professional, production, industrial or continual use applications.

2. SOYEZ CONSCIENT DE VOTRE ENVIRONNEMENT DE TRAVAIL. Ne pas
utiliser les outils motorisés dans des endroits humides, mouillés ou insuf-
samment éclairés. Ne pas exposer vos outils à la pluie. Conservez l’aire
de travail bien éclairée. Ne pas utiliser les outils en présence de gaz ou de
liquides inammables.
3. CONSERVEZ LES ENFANTS ET LES SPECTATEURS À L’ÉCART. Tous
les enfants doivent être tenus à l’écart de l’aire de travail. Ne leur permettez
pas de toucher les machines, les outils ou les cordes de rallonge. Les visit-
eurs peuvent causer une distraction et on doit les protéger contre les bles-
sures corporelles.
4. LES OUTILS MIS À LA TERRE doivent être branchés dans une prise qui
elle-même a été installée et mise à la terre adéquatement. Si l’outil avait un
problème électrique, la mise à la terre offre un cheminement de faible
résistance transportant l’électricité à la mise à la terre loin de l’opérateur. Ne
jamais enlever la broche de mise à la terre ou modier la che. En cas de
doute quant à l’installation appropriée de la mise à la terre, consultez avec un
électricien qualié.
5. PRENEZ LES PRÉCAUTIONS APPROPRIÉES CONCERNANT
L’ISOLATION DOUBLE. Cet outil est doublement isolé. Il est équipé d’une
che polarisée. Une lamelle de la che est plus large que l’autre et elle ne
s’adaptera à une prise de courant polarisée que d’une seule façon. Si vous
éprouvez des difcultés pour insérer la che, inversez-la. Si elle ne s’adapte
toujours pas, ne pas tenter de modier la che. Demandez à un électricien
qualié d’installer une prise de courant polarisée.
6. PRÉVENEZ LES CHOCS ÉLECTRIQUES. Éviter le contact de votre corps
avec les surfaces mises à terre : tuyaux, radiateurs, cuisinières et réfri-
gérateurs. Si votre corps est mis à la terre, le risque de choc électrique est
augmenté. Si vous effectuez des travaux dans les secteurs où des ls élec-
triques sous tension pourraient être touchés, tentez de déterminer s’il y a un
risque de choc électrique. Mais en toute circonstance, NE PAS TOUCHER
AUNE PARTIE MÉTALLIQUE DE L’OUTIL durant son usage. Toujours tenir
l’outil par la poignée en plastique pour prévenir les chocs électriques en cas
de contact avec un l sous tension.
7. NE PAS ABUSER LE CORDON. Ne jamais transporter votre ponceuse par
le cordon ou tirer sur le cordon pour le débrancher. Protégez le cordon des
sources potentielles de dommage : La chaleur, l’huile et les solvants, les re-
bords aiguisés ou les pièces mobiles. Remplacez les cordons endommagés
immédiatement.
8. POUR LE TRAVAIL À L’EXTÉRIEUR, TOUJOURS UTILISER UNE CORDE
DE RALLONGE HOMOLOGUÉE POUR L’USAGE À L’EXTÉRIEUR. Une
corde de rallonge homologuée pour usage à l’extérieur doit porter la marque
« W-A » ou « W ».
9. NE PAS EXPOSER LES OUTILS ÉLECTRIQUES À L’HUMIDITÉ. La pluie
ou les conditions humides peuvent causer l’inltration d’eau dans l’outil et il

11. REMISEZ L’ÉQUIPEMENT QUI N’EST PAS UTILISÉ. Remisez
l’équipement dans un endroit sec pour empêcher la rouille. L’équipement
devrait aussi être remisé dans un endroit haut ou sous clé, hors d’atteinte de
la portée des enfants.
12. NE PAS FORCER L’OUTIL. Il fera un meilleur travail, de manière plus sécu-
ritaire, au rythme pour lequel il est conçu.
13. UTILISEZ L’OUTIL APPROPRIÉ. Ne pas forcer un petit outil ou un acces-
soire à faire le travail d’un outil industriel plus gros. Ne pas utiliser un outil à
une n pour laquelle il n’a pas été conçu.
14. HABILLEZ-VOUS DE MANIÈRE APPROPRIÉE. Ne pas porter de
vêtement ample ou de bijoux. Ils peuvent être attrapés par les pièces
mobiles. Des gants de protection à l’épreuve de la conductivité électrique
et des souliers antidérapants sont recommandés durant le travail. Portez
un couvre-tête de protection pour recouvrir les cheveux longs et prévenir les
emmêlements.
15. PROTÉGEZ VOS YEUX. Utilisez un masque qui recouvre le visage tout
entier si le travail que vous effectuez produit de la limaille métallique, de la
poussière ou des éclats de bois. Des lunettes de sécurité sont appropriées
dans les autres situations. Portez un masque à poussière propre si le travail
implique la création d’une quantité appréciable de poussière ne ou à gros
grains.
16. FIXEZ SOLIDEMENT LA PIÈCE DE TRAVAIL. Utilisez des pinces ou un
étau pour tenir la pièce de travail. C’est beaucoup plus sécuritaire que
l’usage de vos mains et ceci libère vos deux mains pour contrôler l’outil.
17. NE PAS VOUS ÉTIREZ. Conservez vos pieds sur le sol et maintenez votre
équilibre en tout temps. Ne vous avancez pas au-dessus ou à travers les
machines qui sont en mode de fonctionnement.
18. MAINTENEZ L’OUTIL EN BON ÉTAT. Conservez l’outil eflé et propre pour
une meilleure performance et plus de sécurité. Observez les instructions
pour la lubrication et la performance sécuritaire. Respectez les directives
de lubrication et de changement des accessoires. Conservez les poignées
propres, sèches et libres d’huile et de graisse.
19. ÉVITEZ LA MISE EN MARCHE ACCIDENTELLE. Assurez-vous que
l’interrupteur est à la position « ARRÊT » avant de brancher l’outil.
20. TOUJOURS VÉRIFIEZ ET RETIREZ LES CLÉS DE RÉGLAGE ET LES

PROCÉDURES D’UTILISATION
INTERRUPTEUR
MISE EN GARDE : Avant de brancher l’outil, enfoncez la gâchette une fois
et relâchez-la pour vous assurer qu’elle n’est pas verrouillée à la position de
marche.
MISE EN GARDE : Assurez-vous que la courroie n’est pas en contact avec la
pièce lorsque vous mettez l’outil en marche.
Tenez l’outil au-dessus de la pièce en le tenant avec une main sur la poignée
avant et l’autre sur la poignée arrière.
Enfoncez la gâchette sur la poignée arrière avec l’index pour mettre l’outil en
marche. Relâchez la gâchette pour arrêter l’outil.
Pour verrouiller la gâchette à la position de marche, appuyez avec le pouce
sur le petit bouton rond du côté gauche de la poignée arrière alors que la
gâchette est entièrement enfoncée avec l’index.
REMPLACEMENT, INSTALLATION ET AJUSTEMENT
DE LA COURROIE
AVERTISSEMENT : Pour réduire les risques de blessure, mettez hors tension
et débranchez toujours l’outil de l’alimentation avant d’enlever ou d’installer une
courroie de ponçage.
1. Tirez sur le levier de serrage de la courroie du côté droit de la ponceuse et
déplacez-le vers l’avant de l’outil. Ceci réduit la tension sur le galet avant. La
vieille courroie peut ainsi être facilement glissée pour l’enlever des galets.
2. Vériez que la èche de direction de la nouvelle courroie de 76 mm x 533 mm
(3 x 21 po) (habituellement imprimée sur la toile à l’intérieur de la courroie)
correspond à la direction du mouvement de la courroie sur l’outil. La courroie
se déplace de l’avant vers l’arrière sur la surface exposée en-dessous de
l’outil. Une courroie installée à l’envers ne fonctionnera pas aussi efcace-
ment et durera moins longtemps.
3. Glissez une courroie de ponçage de 76 mm x 533 mm (3 x 21 po) sur les
galets avant et arrière et alignez-la de façon à ce qu’elle soit le plus centrée
possible avec le moins de débordement possible d’un côté et de l’autre du
galet avant et du galet d’entraînement arrière.
4. Poussez le levier de serrage à la position fermée. Prenez garde de ne pas
vous pincer les doigts. La courroie est alors serrée en place.
5. Assurez-vous que la gâchette est hors tension. Branchez l’outil. Ce qui suit
sera plus facile à faire si l’outil est tenu à l’envers sur un établi. Ne laissez
pas la courroie entrer en contact avec quelque objet que ce soit.
6. Enfoncez la gâchette et faites tourner la courroie lentement. Si la courroie
commence à se déplacer vers la gauche ou la droite sur les galets, il faudra
régler l’alignement. Vous pouvez régler l’alignement en tournant la molette
d’alignement à l’avant de l’outil du côté gauche. Tournez la molette dans un
sens pour régler l’aligement vers la gauche. Tournez-la dans l’autre sens
pour ajuster l’alignement vers la droite. Réglez l’alignement jusqu’à ce que la
courroie reste centrée sur les galets sans toucher au boîtier du côté gauche
de l’outil ni glisser des galets vers la droite. La courroie ne devrait pas être à
plus de 6 mm (1/4 po) du rebord de la plaque inférieure. Si la courroie entre
en contact avec le boîtier, elle peut s’eflocher et durera moins longtemps et
elle risque d’endommager le boîtier.
7. Après avoir poncé la pièce avec une nouvelle courroie pendant une courte
période de temps, il pourrait être nécessaire de rajuster l’alignement.

PROCÉDURES D’UTILISATION
SAC À POUSSIÈRE
Installez le sac à poussière sur la bouche d’évacuation de poussière du côté
gauche de l’outil près de la poignée arrière. Le dépoussiérage s’effectue le plus
efcacement lorsque le sac est vidé quand il est à moitié plein. De temps en
temps, il est utile de renverser le sac et de le nettoyer soigneusement avec une
brosse.
MISE EN GARDE : N’utilisez pas cette ponceuse sans un dispositif de
dépoussiérage.
PONÇAGE
1. Fixez bien la pièce à poncer. Elle aura tendance à se déplacer vers
l’utilisateur lorsque la courroie est en contact avec la surface.
2. Tenez l’outil fermement avec les deux mains sur les poignées. Lorsque la
courroie entre en contact avec la surface de la pièce, l’outil a tendance à se
tirer vers l’avant avec une certaine force. Pour éviter d’endommager la pièce
et la courroie, ne démarrez jamais la ponceuse alors que la courroie est en
contact avec la surface de la pièce.
3. Mettez l’outil en marche et laissez la courroie atteindre sa pleine vitesse.
4. Abaissez délicatement l’outil en gardant la courroie parallèle à la surface de
la pièce.
5. Commencez à déplacer la ponceuse vers l’avant. Abaissez légèrement
l’arrière de l’outil an que la courroie entre en contact avec la pièce à l’arrière
d’abord (le talon de la ponceuse). Continuez de déplacer la ponceuse vers
l’avant en mettant la courroie entièrement en contact avec la surface. Utilisez
une légère pression vers le bas si nécessaire.
6. Tirez l’outil vers l’arrière. Continuez le mouvement de va et vient en
chevauchant les passes durant le ponçage. Ceci aide à produire une surface
uniforme. Essayez d’éviter de mettre de la pression sur l’outil puisque son
propre poids est normalement sufsant. Trop de pression peut entailler ou
brûler la surface, surcharger le moteur ou causer un recul de la pièce.
7. Lorsque vous poncez une surface de bois rugueux, orientez la ponceuse à
un angle léger par rapport au grain du bois et en utilisant une courroie à gros
grain, et déplacez la ponceuse dans le sens du grain du bois pour accélérer
l’enlèvement de matière. La même méthode peut servir pour le ponçage
avec un grain moyen. Pour le ponçage de nition, la ponceuse doit être
orientée dans le sens du grain du bois.
8. Lorsque vous avez terminé le ponçage, soulevez la ponceuse avant de
relâcher la gâchette.
La direction de ponçage n’est pas aussi importante pour les matériaux autres
que le bois puisque la direction du grain n’a pas d’importance.
Le ponçage afeurant le long d’une surface prependiculaire est possible du
côté droit de l’outil.
Utilisez une grosseur de grain de ponçage qui produira des marques plus nes
que celles existant déjà sur la surface de la pièce. Un grain trop gros ne rendra
pas la surface plus lisse et un grain trop n prendra trop de temps pour éliminer
les égratignures ou n’en sera tout simplement pas capable. Continuez d’utiliser
des grains de plus en plus ns jusqu’à ce que vous ayez atteint le ni voulu.

Lorsque vous enlevez de la vieille peinture, déterminez combien de peinture doit
réellement être enlevée. Tenez compte que la vieille peinture peut être toxique
et devra être traitée avec les précautions dues aux substances toxiques pour
l’utilisateur de l’outil aussi bien que pour l’environnement. Portez une protection
respiratoire adéquate et jetez soigneusement la poussière et les copeaux
restants après le ponçage car ils pourraient être emportés dans une résidence
ou contaminer le sol. Utilisez également le sac à poussière fourni. Un ni qui
s’écaille et qui craque, doit être enlevé, mais un ni qui est encore fermement
attaché peut être gratté puis recouvert d’un apprêt et d’une nouvelle couche
de nition. Poncez toujours légèrement la sous-couche avec un grain n avant
d’appliquer la couche de nition.
ENTRETIEN
Assurez-vous que les trous d’aération demeurent libres de poussière et de
débris. Ceci aidera à empêcher des courts-circuits électriques et assurera un
refroidissement adéquat.
Gardez le boîtier de l’outil propre et sans huile ni graisse, en vous servant
d’un linge humide (pas trop mouillé) et de savon doux.
Évitez de surcharger la ponceuse. Elle deviendra trop chaude et perdra son
efcacité. Faites fonctionner l’outil à vide pendant une ou deux minutes pour
le laisser refroidir à la température normale.
Inspectez régulièrement le cordon et, s’il est endommagé, faites-le remplacer
par le personnel d’un centre de service autorisé.
La lubrication de cet outil est effectuée à l’usine et aucune autre lubrication
ne devrait être nécessaire dans des conditions d’usage normal.
Seulement le personnel d’un centre de réparation autorisé devrait effectuer
des réparations, des modications ou de l’entretien nécessitant le démontage
de l’outil.
Tout dommage à l’outil devraient être corrigé dans un centre de réparation
autorisé.
