General Safety
System installation, maintenance and commissioning must be carried out by
personal who have necessary training and experience. End User must read this
safety information and manual carefully.
Disconnect power before any maintenance. Turn off dedicated primary breaker
for panel.
Caution-Risk of electrical shock. More than one disconnects may be required to
De-energize equipment. DISCONNECT THE DEDICATED BREAKER FOR THE SYSTEM
BEFORE SERVICING ANY ELECTRICAL COMPONETS.
Electrical shock –This device contains voltages that could cause electrical shock
and could be lethal. Extreme care is always necessary when working with the
panel.
Fire Hazard –if improper voltage is supplied death or serious injury by fire may
occur. Verify all voltage ratings match the incoming voltage rating for the system
Sudden Movement hazard –system may start unexpectantly upon application of
power resulting in serious injury or death. Remove all personnel from machine
area before applying power and always have system in hard stop when doing any
service work on the system.
Warning! In Stand-by (Yellow Light) mode, the system can start automatically at
any time! Place system in hard stop before any service work to equipment.

Introduction
The Imperium panel can handle several different approaches to storing product. Most of these concepts have
come directly from our customers and their individual needs or requirements. While most of the operation is
similar Centurion series, there are a few concepts that are different. The Imperium panel was designed with the
following concepts in mind:
•The system can use a recipe management system to aid when and how the system operates.
•The system will use desired cold outdoor air first when available.
•The system can use refrigeration in place of unwanted outdoor air.
•The system can use pre-defined equipment to aid in the control of storage temperature and humidity.
•The system can use Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s) to reduce air flow and operating expense while
maintaining a high humidity via the use of a Humidicell and Humidifiers
•The system will respond to internal and external alarms.
Therma-Doors referenced in the manual are inclusive of any type of doors or louvers as the main and volume
door(s) on the outside of a building to allow outdoor air into the Supply plenum.
Information and data are grouped into related screens. For example, sensor readings are shown in the Visual
Status page. Switches to enable or disable equipment are found in the individual Equipment screens. The
Getting Started Chapter covers this in more detail.
The manual is broken into chapters and sections of related information about display screens. The pictures and
illustrations in the manual are identified by page number and the image number on that page. For example,
Figure 6.1 would be the first image on page 6. Figure 6.1,3 would be the first and third image on page 6. And
Figure 6.1-3 would be the first, second and third image on page 6. This helps to identify where a picture and
illustration is located when referred to in the text of the manual.

8
User Interface
The Imperium panel (Figure 8.1) features a Touch Screen interface display (Item A) that is clean, fast and simple
to use. The display and equipment switches are easy to access on the inner doorplate.
The Hard Stop switch (Item B) places the system into an immediate shutdown. Pressing the red button of the
HARD STOP switch IN illuminates the red button and immediately kills power to internal control panel relays.
This shutdown method completely overrides the system and equipment override switches producing an
immediate stop of equipment. Press the illuminated red button again to clear (not illuminated).
The equipment override switches (Item C) have three positions: AUTOMATED, OFF, and MANUAL. Placing the
desired switch in the AUTOMATED position allows the system to control the output to start and stop equipment.
The OFF position keeps the equipment from starting, ignores control output by the system, and stops running
equipment. To manually turn on an equipment output, make sure the Hard Stop button is not illuminated.
Move the desired switch to MANUAL and this equipment will start and run. The MANUAL position ignores
system control output such as a signal to stop the equipment. The DOOR OPEN and DOOR CLOSED switches
have an interlock to prevent both operations occurring at the same time.

Getting Started
Though the Imperium uses a touch screen interface, pervious IVI panel users will feel right at home. If you are
new to IVI or just need a refresher, this Chapter will help you get started.
This chapter discusses the following topics:
•Conventions –Screen information for variables, values, icons, and switches
•Navigation –Touch Screen interactive display operation
•Screen Types–Standard, Options, Menu and Visual screens
•Changing Values –Editing variable values
•Passwords –System use of passwords and log in information
The pictures and illustrations in the manual are identified by page number and the image number on that page.
For example, Figure 6.1 would be the first image on page 6. Figure 6.1,3 would be the first and third image on
page 6. And Figure 6.1-3 would be the first, second and third image on page 6. This helps to identify where a
picture and illustration is located when referred to in the text of the manual.

10
Conventions
The Imperium panel displays information in columns and rows, keeping the text large and information easy to
read. The following items are used to display information, change values and equipment on the display screen.
•User Variable and Value:
•User Variable and Changeable Value:

allowing the equipment to operate without damage from an immediate stop. The
Light Tree signal may be green and red at this time before going to full red. When the
equipment has stopped the system will shut down. (See the Shutdown or the Light
Tree-Red Light Sections of Quick Start Chapter). The one button switches to Reset if
the panel is in an alarmed condition or is in a Soft Stop. The RESET button will need to
be pressed to reset stop or failure conditions allowing the system to restart. Reset has
no effect on a Hard Stop, a Remote (Auxiliary) Stop or refrigeration (Refer) failure.
The current Weather icon will display a popup screen showing a 3-day forecast.

13
Screen Types
The system uses multiple screen types to display information to the user. The first three quick access icons are
the Visual Status screen, the Runtime/Recipe management screen and the History screens. The next series of
quick access icons relate to the control parameters and equipment.
The Visual Status screen (Figure 13.1) gives the user quick access to system operation information and control
parameters. This screen also acts as the main menu. Touching the equipment on the screen or the quick access
icon will navigate to a tabbed view of the control parameters relating to that item.
Figure 13.1: Visual Status Screen
The Runtime/Recipe management icon accesses the Runtime setup and Recipe management screen (Figure
13.2). Current running Runtimers and Recipes can be viewed and modified from this information screen.
Figure 13.2: Runtime and Recipe management screen

14
The History screen (Figure 14.1) accesses the historical data generated by the system. The History data can be
viewed in both a chart or graph format. The Event log, Audit log and Notes can also be viewed from the tabs
under the History screen.
Figure 14.1: History screen
System control parameters can be accessed from the remaining quick access icons. The Control Settings (Figure
14.2) screens display data is a column/row format. Parameter are also sub-divided by control category. The
data box is colored blue when a parameter is changed from default.

Two Edit Pads are used to change a variable’s numeric value or select text from a list of values (Figure 17.1 and
17.2). Both edit pads show the variable selected and current value for editing. These edit pads are the most
common method of changing the values. There is also a full keyboard (Figure 17.3) for values that require a full
functioning keyboard.
The Numeric Edit Pad (Figure 17.1) is displayed when a variable’s numeric value is pressed. A new value is
limited by the minimum and maximum number allowed. Pressing a number key(s) will replace the entire value.
Press the BACK key to remove the last digit pressed. Press OK to accept changed value or Cancel to keep the old
value. OK and Cancel will also return to previous screen.
The List-of-Values Edit Pad (Figure 17.2) is displayed when a variable’s word or phrase is pressed. Use the arrow
keys to scroll up and down multiple list screens. Touch the desired word or phrase in the list to accept the
changed value. Press Close to discard the change and keep current value. Close will also return to previous
screen.
