Frequently Asked Questions/Troubleshooting
Q. Why is it difficult to command the scale using the Infra-Red Remote?
A. Check to see that there is nothing blocking the path between the
front of the scale and the remote; or, check the batteries in the
Remote; or, bring the Remote within 3 feet of the Scale Unit.
Q. Why won’t the Postal Rate Downloader install?
A. This program is not compatible with WinNT 4.0 at the time of this
writing. The JQ-210 Postal Rate Downloader requires Win95, Win98,
WindowsME, Windows 2000 or above operating system.
Q. When I click “Download from Internet” nothing happens.
A. Make sure you have a connection to the Internet. If you are sure
that you are connected to the Internet, you may have a network
problem. If you are able to use your browser to surf the Internet,
the program should operate correctly. Contact J Quality customer
Service at (626) 821-1391, 8AM to 5PM Pacific Standard Time, or visit
our website at http://www.jquality.com.
Q. I can’t download the current rates to the Scale Unit.
A. Check to make sure the Scale Unit is connected to a COM port on the
PC. Be sure to use the AC adapter as your power source. Follow the

easier to have the Scale Unit ready to accept the download before
you start to update the Scale from the PC. If all else fails, call

Safety Instructions
1. Do not install the unit in places subject to excessive dust,
high humidity, direct exposure to sunlight or in places subject to
temperatures below 32 F or above 104 F (0 to 40 C).
2. The exterior of the unit should only be cleaned by wiping with a
damp cloth. Do not spray clean surfaces directly nor immerse the
unit in any liquid.
3. Operate and store the unit on a level and stable surface.
4. Avoid overloading the scale with weight exceeding the 10 lb.
capacity. Doing so may result in ruining the calibration of the scale
and ability for accuracy.
5. Do not store objects or keep any weight on the scale for long
periods of time. For transportation or long term storage, the
product should be stored in its original box and packing.
Power Requirements
The JQ-210 is powered by either a AC/AC 9V 100mA adapter (included)
or a 9V battery. The AC adapter must be used when updating
data to the scale from a PC. A low battery indicator appears in the LCD
window when battery power runs low. Replace the batteries as soon
as possible or switch to the 9V adapter. Rate information is locked in
memory regardless of power source withdrawal.
The Infra-Red Remote Control operates on two AAA batteries (alkaline
batteries are recommended for best operation). If a response from the
scale using the remote appears stubborn, replace the batteries in the
remote for a consistent response. Be sure the Remote window points
at the front of the Scale unit and is not more than 3 feet apart from the
Scale for best operation.
