Controlling the car alarm
 The alarm will be armed when the car is locked remotely by the original remote control and
disarmed when the car is unlocked remotely. The locking must always be followed by
confirmation from the turn lights.
 If the car is unlocked directly by its door key (no confirmation from the turn lights) then an
alarm will be triggered. This is a protection against damaging car locks mechanically. To stop
the alarm it is necessary to unlock it remotely by the original remote control.
Buttons present on the key fob can be used for additional functions, e. . remote operatin of the ate or
hands free callin . Please ask your installer for detailed information.
Remote control via a mobile phone
You can operate the car alarm by your mobile phone. The car alarm will send alarm messages to
the phone and call after an alarm has been triggered. You can send SMS instructions via an
authori ed mobile phone to the car alarm’s phone number (see table below).
In addition, the car alarm allows you remote control by
dialing-in from an authorized phone2 .
You only have to dial the car alarm’s phone number (while the ignition key is turned off). The car
alarm will not answer the incoming call, but when it recogni es your number, it will change status
(to Arm or Disarm). Such remote control is free of charge since the phone is not answered.
Status chan es can be confirmed by SMS messa es.

If you operate the car alarm by SMS instructions, you only will arm or disarm the car.
No locking or unlocking will occur.
In the case that you do not remember particular SMS instruction(s) you can ask for
help by sending a HELP instruction

Remote control from unauthorized phones
You can operate the car alarm via SMS instructions sent from arbitrary mobile phone, even an
unauthori ed one. In that case, the user code must be inserted at the start of every SMS
instruction, separated by a space. Example: MYCODE STATUS. The factory default value of
user code is USER. The code can be modified by an instruction. See the table above or ask a
service center for help.

Acoustic signals
The car alarm informs you about its status by
siren chirps. The chirps for arming, disarming
and arming with the triggered input (e.g. an
open door indication) are optional, you can
disable it. The other signals, owing to their
importance, cannot be disabled.
Warning! If the GSM network is not
available while the car alarm is being
armed, the car alarm will respond with 6
beeps to indicate that it is not be able to
send any messages nor call in the case of
an alarm.

The number of flashes corresponds
to the number of controllers enrolled.
Protecting a garage, goods area, caravan etc.
The car alarm allows you to enroll up to 8 wireless detectors, as for instance glass break
detectors or motion detectors, for protecting the area inside the car or even outside the car up
to a distance of about 40 meters. After arming the car alarm, an exit delay of 20 seconds is
provided to all enrolled detectors (the detectors are ignored during this delay). A 20 second
entrance delay after triggering a detector is provided by the detectors that are switched to
delay mode. In the case of an alarm, the siren will sound for 30 seconds. The detectors can be
enrolled as either internal or external.
Detectors are supplied by a battery with a minimum lifetime of 1 year. Volta e-drop is
responded by the system via an SMS.

Alarm
When an alarm is triggered (the car alarm is armed and an input is triggered), the siren will
sound for 30 seconds

, warning SMS messages will be sent to all phones (TEL1 to TEL4)
and these phones will also be called with a siren sound

. The alarm can be terminated
by unlocking the car
control or by SMS instruction. It is also possible to send an SMS
instruction for disarming
the car. Your mobile will be sent a message stating that the
alarm condition has ended. Termination of the alarm does not cause disarming. Also, the
remains locked (if equipped with a central locking system).
Remote immobilization (IMO)
When the car alarm receives the SMS command IMO it will reply with a confirmation SMS
and block (immobili e) the engine. If the ignition key is off, the immobili ation will occur
immediately. If the ignition key is on when the car alarm receives the command IMO,
immobili ation will occur as soon as the ignition key is switched off which will be confirmed
by SMS. Unblocking the car cannot be done via by a key fob. It is only possible by the
SMS instruction UNIMO.
Car location via
GPS
(CA-1803BT only)
After receiving a GPS instruction, the car alarm will respond with the GPS coordinates of the
latest known location. If the current location is not available at the time of reception of the
instruction (as the case may be for the car being in a deep-level garage), the latest location
stored in internal memory is sent. To monitor the car temporarily, you can use the GPS ON
instruction which makes the alarm send information about location after every 1 minute of
time elapsed (limited to 15 messages).

Location via the LOCATOR service
If you use a SIM card which enables for an approximate car location via the GSM network,
you can send a LOCATOR SMS instruction to obtain the car location

Internet remote access and maintenance
The web site www.gsmlink.c enables car alarm remote control (to users) and setting (to
installers). After a registration of the car alarm you get a secure password protected
access. You can check the alarm’s state, modify it or change settings for phone numbers
and texts. In addition, it is possible to get a listing of event records (with time, source, and
type information) as well as the car motion history

When it is necessary to change the settings of the alarm, you mostly do not need go out for
a service. Instead, you can call and ask a service engineer to perform the setting remotely.

Accoustic signaling (siren) may be disabled by a service engineer.

If a call is activated after an alarm has been triggered and you answer the call, you will hear a siren sound from the
receiver. If a hands-free set is installed, listening to the car will be triggered.

Phone calls by an installed hands free set
If the HF-03 hands free set is installed, it is possible to receive and make phone calls via the
car alarm. In addition to hands free calling, the set allows you to listen-in after an alarm has
been triggered.

Incoming calls – to answer them, press any button on the RC-8x key fob remote
control while the car alarm is disarmed. The set allows you to receive a call from any
phone number.

To make a call – you can call up to 4 preprogrammed numbers while you are driving. By
pressing one of the buttons of the RC-8x controller you will dial the corresponding number
(preprogrammed by the installer). Each button can be assigned to a phone number.

 To terminate a call – press any button on the RC-8x controller.
When armed, all incomin calls are automatically rejected. If the car is blocked (by the IMO instruction)
all calls are automatically answered (it is then possible to listen to and to speak to the car remotely).
Additional features
Limited number of alarms
If any input (e.g. a bonnet sensor) repeatedly triggers alarms then this particular input will be
bypassed automatically after the third alarm (it will remain bypassed until the car alarm is
disarmed). When the car alarm is armed subsequently, the input will be activated.
Car battery low voltage reporting
The built-in voltage drop detector can trigger an alarm if an electrical device in the car is
turned on while the car is armed. Also the car alarm checks the voltage of the car battery. If
the voltage is too low (10.5V) it will notify users via an SMS message. The car alarm can be
backed up by a BB-02 battery. Except for the acoustic siren, the BB-02 backs-up all the
functions of the car alarm. After discharging or disconnecting the main battery supply an
SMS will be sent with corresponding information.
Remote control of another appliances
If connected with another car’s appliances (e.g. independent heating), the car alarm allows
you to operate them via the RC-8x controller or by sending an SMS instruction AUX. If you
use the RC-8x key fob for operation, press the buttons a together. If you operate via
the AUX SMS instruction see the table below for a detailed description. In addition, SMS
operation allows you to determine the requested impulse duration to activate an appliance.

You can replace AUX with HEATING or any other word which will suit you.
Roaming
If you travel abroad and your SIM card supports roaming, the car alarm functionality remains
unrestricted except for the LOCATOR and CREDIT functions which might be not available.
Central monitoring station communication
The car alarm allows central monitoring via GPRS data protocol. Please ask your supplier for details.
