INSTRUCTIONS
Your JackRabbit has been 98% pre-assembled and only requires a few steps to get it
ready to ride. (The FAQ page of our website links to an assemble video for guidance.)
1. Remove all contents from the carton and record the serial number found on the
front of the head tube above the fork. If anything is damaged please contact us.
2. Undo the rubber band that holds the
stem/handlebar assembly to the frame. Snap
together the two stem wire plugs. Note: they only fit
one way. Push the black rubber puck into the stem
extension before inserting it into the stem base.
The notch in the end of the extension will engage
the stem base’s shear bolt and keep the
handlebars centered.
3. The brake cable passes on the left side of the stem--not the right side as shown
in the Diagram.
4. Press down the quick release lever to secure the stem extension assembly to the
stem base. If necessary turn the thumb nut to adjust the clamp’s tightness.
5. Squeeze the hand brake lever to confirm that the brake pads contact the rim.
6. Set the saddle height so that both feet rest flat on the ground when seated.
7. Fold down the footrests.
8. Toggle the power switch on the underside of the frame to the ON (I) position.
Confirm the battery’s charge status by pressing the small button on top of the frame. If
only the red LED illuminates the battery is 25% charged (30-33 volts) and should be
recharged before riding. Thirty minutes of charging will be sufficient to get going!

OPERATING PROCEDURES
FIRST RIDE GUIDANCE
Learning to ride JackRabbit is easy. Adjust the saddle height such that both feet rest flat on the
ground when seated. Start out on a section of flat, smooth road. Toggle the power switch on the
underside of the frame to the ON (I) position. Next, push the top of the Speed Control Switch (SCS)
with your left thumb and JackRabbit will slowly start to move. Release your thumb anytime to coast.
Experience steering turns without your feet on the folding footrests. Instead, let them drag on the
ground to build confidence. Once you get a feel for JackRabbit’s handling characteristics put both feet
on the footrests while going in a straight line at a slow speed. Gradually introduce steering to sense
how your feet and legs react. Most experienced cyclists will need to “unlearn”using their feet.
Practice letting your legs just ride along and follow your steering hands. Remember, you can quickly
and easily put both feet on the ground at any time. This is something you cannot do on a bicycle, so
it’s not an instinctive reaction and may therefore take some practice. DO NOT take your hands off
the handlebars while your feet are on the footrests. This could cause you to loose control.
WARNING: RIDING YOUR JackRabbit AROUND CARS,
PEDESTRIANS, OTHER CYCLISTS OR POTENTIAL HAZARDS
BEFORE YOU ARE ABLE TO SAFELY DO SO COULD RESULT IN
SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH.
WARNING: PUT YOURSELF IN THE PROPER RIDING POSITION,
SEATED ON YOUR JackRabbit, AND BE IN A SUITABLE RIDING
AREA, BEFORE PUSHING THE SPEED SWITCH—IN CASE OF
UNINTENDED MOVEMENT OF YOUR JackRabbit.
STOPPING YOUR JackRabbit: RELEASE THE SPEED CONTROL
SWITCH AND APPLY THE HAND BRAKE UNTIL THE VEHICLE
COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. YOU CAN ALSO USE YOUR FEET
TO SLOW DOWN…A GOOD REASON TO NOT RIDE BAREFOOT.
NEVER EXCEED 18 MPH. USE OF THIS PRODUCT MAY BE A
DANGEROUS ACTIVITY AND MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR
DEATH, EVEN WHEN USED WITH PROPER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
OPERATION OF THE JackRabbit BY CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE
OF 18 INCREASES THE RISK OF SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH.
THIS PRODUCT IS INTENDED FOR ADULT USE ONLY. JackRabbit
IS FUN, BUT NOT A TOY. NEVER PERMIT CHILDREN UNDER THE
AGE OF 18 OPERATE IT.
DO NOT EXCEED THE WEIGHT LIMIT OF 220 lbs. (100 kg).
JackRabbit IS INTENDED FOR SINGLE RIDER USE ONLY. DO NOT
RIDE WITH ANY ADDITIONAL PASSENGERS.
ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR WHEN OPERATNG
JackRabbit.
DO NOT RIDE AT NIGHT (IN THE DARK) WITHOUT ILLUMINATING
FRONT AND REAR LIGHTS.
3

TO MINIMIZE THE AFOREMENTIONED RISKS, PLEASE HEED THE FOLLOWING
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
USE COMMON SENSE in deciding when, where and how you ride your JackRabbit.
There are inherent, unavoidable risks in operating any vehicle or bike, especially
around other vehicles, people and everyday hazards.
YOUR SAFETY IS UP TO YOU when you are operating your JackRabbit. It is not
possible to list all of the do’s and don’ts. We only list some here.
DO NOT RIDE IF YOUR ARE NOT COMFORTABLE with the JackRabbit or with the risks of when,
where and how you are riding it. It takes physical skills and good judgment to safely operate your
JackRabbit.
DO NOT RIDE JackRabbit IN HAZARDOUS AREAS, or in weather or road conditions
where you do not have adequate stability and control. JackRabbit was not designed for
steep hills, grades or ramps, or for jumps, large bumps, steps, drainage grates, stunts
or racing.
JackRabbit IS NOT A TOY. It is NOT child-proof. It is NOT meant for use by children.
DO NOT LET YOUR CELL PHONE OR HEADPHONES or anything else distract you
from paying full attention to your operation of your JackRabbit.
NO PASSENGERS are permitted. Any passenger can contribute to a loss of control or
stability and may overload the JackRabbit.
DO NOT RIDE in conditions where other vehicles, riders or people cannot see you or
where you cannot see them. There is no standard headlight or brake light.
DO NOT RIDE at night (in the dark) without illuminating front and rear lights. (Front and
rear lights are standard equipment on the fully-accessorized JackRabbit model.)
DO RIDE SAFELY. Drive defensively. Anticipate hazards. Be aware of the people,
vehicles and objects around you.
DO HOLD ON TO THE HANDLEBARS with both hands at all times.
CONTROL YOUR SPEED, keep your right hand near the brake lever while riding down
an incline. Heavier riders will pick up speed quickly. Do not exceed 18 mph.
DO COMPLY WITH ALL RULES AND LAWS APPLICABLE TO YOU and YOUR JackRabbit. Rules
and laws vary from locale to locale, from state to state and from country to country. It is your
responsibility to know and follow those rules and laws, which are subject to change.
4

CHECKING AND MAINTAINING ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONDITIONS
Check the condition of your JackRabbit each time you are going to ride it. Make sure the
brake and the steering are working properly and that all the components, including the tires
are in good condition. Make sure no nuts, bolts, or other parts are loose or damaged. Make
sure you are in an acceptable condition to ride.
PROPER RIDING ATTIRE
Keep all body parts, hair, clothing, or other personal articles out of the way of moving parts
such as the wheel and the motor.
DO always wear proper protective equipment, including an approved safety helmet. Helmets
may be legally required by local law in your area. Follow the helmet manufacturer’s
instructions for fit, use, and care of your helmet. We recommend wearing a long-sleeved shirt,
long pants and gloves to minimize injury or scrapes in case of an accident. DO wear athletic
shoes (lace-up shoes with rubber soles) and DO NOT ride barefoot or in open-toed shoes. Be
sure to keep your shoelaces tied and out of the way so they do not get caught in the wheels.
Beware of pinching your fingers or getting them caught in parts when operating the vehicle.
SPEED CONTROL SWITCH (SCS)
This component controls how much power is delivered from the battery to the motor. Pressing
and holding the SCS in the top (CRUISE) position permits 5 amps of current to flow--creating
between 168 and 116 watts of power at the rear wheel (depending on the state of the battery
charge). Pressing and holding the SCS in the bottom (CLIMB) position permits 10 amps of
current to flow—creating between 336 and 232 watts of power at the rear wheel. In the
absence of any thumb pressure the SCS defaults to the COAST position and no current flows
from the battery to the motor. The SCS can be removed from its handlebar cradle. Doing so
disables JackRabbit’s operation. A blue key fob is provided to secure the SCS to a key
chain/ring when it is removed. When re-inserting the SCS please note its proper orientation:
CRUISE (I) is up, CLIMB (II) is down. Extra SCS’s are only available only to registered
JackRabbit owners. The SCS cradle’s wire is routed through holes in the handlebars to the
stem extension. Rotating the SCS cradle relative to the handlebars or the handlebars
relative to the stem risks severing this wire that connects to the “engine room.”
DAMPENED AND LIMITED STEERING
JackRabbit's steering action is dampened for a more stable handling feel. To protect the wire
routed inside the fork, handlebar rotation is limited. Its small 33” turning radius makes
JackRabbit very nimble--easy to maneuver around obstacles in traffic.
BRAKE
Your JackRabbit is equipped with a rear wheel V-brake for maximum reliability and efficiency.
Applying hand pressure to the brake lever adds friction that slows the rear wheel. With the
Speed Control Switch in the COAST (default) position, pull the brake lever towards you to
slow down. The more pressure applied to the lever, the faster JackRabbit will come to a stop.
Please review brake adjustment and service information on Page 8.
WARNING: STOPPING DISTANCES WILL VARY DEPENDING ON YOUR
SPEED, CONDITION OF YOUR TIRES, SURFACE YOU ARE RIDING ON
AND YOUR WEIGHT. ALWAYS FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR
STOPPING DISTANCE BEFORE RIDING IN A BUSY PLACE.
5

CLIMBING HILLS
JackRabbit’s hill climbing performance is governed by the laws of Newtonian physics. In other
words, speed depends on rider weight, available power and slope. Available power is a function
of the battery’s state of charge. At 50%, the battery charge is 36 volts. When the SCS is pressed
in the CLIMB position the rear wheel produces 288 watts of power. This will propel a 120 lb. rider
up a 15% slope at 6 mph, or a 240 lb. rider at 3 mph. You can calculate any performance
scenario at www.bikecalculator.com. If the slope is too steep for a given rider’s weight, the
controller will automatically cut off current to avoid damage. WHEN JACKRABBIT’S SPEED UP
HILL FALLS BELOW 3 MPH IT IS TIME TO EITHER GET OFF AND WALK OR PUSH WITH
YOUR FEET. Please visit our YouTube channel for demonstrations of JackRabbit’s amazing
human-powered modes of operation.
SADDLE
JackRabbit’s saddle and seat post are common bicycle components and therefore
interchangeable with other models. Together they offer several dimensions of adjustment. Saddle
height can be set from 26.5” to 33.5” above the ground. Do not extend the seat post beyond
its minimum insertion hash marks. The saddle can be moved about 4cm forward or back
along its rails. Finally, the pitch of the saddle can be tilted up or down to suit your riding comfort.
Feel free to experiment—or even swap in your favorite bicycle saddle.
TIRES
JackRabbit’s front tire is 100% maintenance free. The nitrogen-infused macromolecular material
has ride characteristics comparable to traditional pneumatic tires, yet is lighter in weight and will
never go flat! The only reason we chose not to use this technology in the rear relates to the
potential for panic stops. If the rear wheel is locked up (skids) on an abrasive surface (pavement
or concrete), a permanent flat spot may be created. Until ABS technology trickles down to the
bicycling industry, we decided this potentiality to be unacceptable. The rear tire thorn resistant. If
the rear tire should suffer a puncture, please refer to repair instructions on Page 8.
FOOTRESTS
The folding footrests are designed to support only the weight of your legs while you are seated
on the saddle: 30 lbs. maximum each side. They could break and cause injury if stood on!
USB PORT
JackRabbit is equipped with a 5-volt, 1-amp USB port for recharging personal devices. When the
main battery is fully charged it can recharge a typical smartphone about 25 times. Devices can
be powered or recharged while operating your JackRabbit.
HOW TO FOLD YOUR JACKRABBIT FOR STORAGE/TRANSPORT
JackRabbit shines in its lightweight and ability to fit in small spaces--the back seat of a car,
behind a desk, under a table, in a closet, etc. To fold the handlebars flip open the stem’s quick
release clamp lever. Pull the stem extension out about ½ “ (13 mm). Rotate the handlebars 90
degrees. Press down the quick release lever to hold the handlebars in this position. When folded
in this manner JackRabbit is only about 6” wide, 4’ long and 3’ tall.
6

BATTERY AND CHARGER USE AND CARE
The charger supplied with your JackRabbit is specifically designed to recharge its lithium-ion cells.
*The use of any other charger may cause permanent damage to your JackRabbit Battery*
Examine the charger regularly for damage to the cord, plug, and other parts. In the event of damage,
do not charge JackRabbit’s battery until the charger has been repaired or replaced. If the charger
emits unusual sounds or odors, immediately stop using it and contact us.
Recharge the battery after every use. This is the best practice for extending the life of your
battery up to 1000 cycles. When it will no longer hold a charge it can be replaced.
The charger’s light will change from red to green when the battery is fully charged. This will
take about 2.5 hours if the battery is fully drained--less time if it is only partially discharged.
Use only the provided charger, as a lithium ion battery requires a specially designed charger
Unplug charger and disconnect from your JackRabbit when not in use.
Never store the battery in a discharged state. (If you will not use your JackRabbit for an
extended period of time, charge it fully and then recharge every 3 months)
Recharge the battery before it becomes completely discharged. (When completely discharged,
battery capacity and life span will be reduced.)
Store battery in a cool, dry place.
Electrical equipment may generate heat. Keep away from combustible materials.
Do NOT subject the battery or charger to extremely high temperatures such as in direct
sunlight, near a fire, etc.
Do NOT store in extremely low temperatures.
Do NOT store the battery or charger in extremely low temperatures.
Do NOT immerse the battery or charger in water or other liquids.
Do NOT place the battery or charger near flammable or corrosive substances.
The charger is NOT weather proof. Keep dry and away from water and fire.
Do NOT use the battery or charger to power devices other than your JackRabbit.
Do NOT exceed recommended charging time of 3 hours.
Do NOT attempt to disassemble, repair or modify the battery.
Do NOT put the battery in water, salt or acidic solutions.
Do NOT store in high temperatures such as in direct sunlight, near a fire, etc.
Follow proper battery disposal procedure: Recycle lithium-ion batteries. Do not throw away in
regular trash or attempt to incinerate.
Warning: Improper use, storage, handling or disposal of a battery or the
charger can result in fire, electrocution, serious injury or even death.

REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND APPEARANCE CARE
Simplicity is a hallmark of JackRabbit’s design. We’ve chosen to use mature and readily available
components. This design strategy not only improves reliability, but also reduces the documentation
you have to read through. This Owner’s Manual is half the size of JackRabbit’s competitors.
If the rear tire should suffer a puncture you can take your JackRabbit to a bicycle shop where
installing a new inner tube will cost about $15. Or you can:
1. Unhook the V-brake cable--allowing the brake pads to spring out beyond the width of the tire.
2. Unplug the 9-pin motor cable.
3. Loosen the two 15 mm axle bolts with the wrench provided
4. Remove the wheel from the frame.
5. Unseat the tire bead from the rim using a plastic pry tool.
6. Remove the inner tube.
7. Inspect the inside wall of the tire and remove what may remain of the cause of the puncture--
otherwise your new tube may pop!
8. Install a new inner tube--or the old one after patching it.
9. Reseat the tire bead then inflate to 40-65 psi. Note: lower pressures increase the chance of a
puncture. Higher pressures will not absorb bumps as well.
10.Reinstall the rear wheel in the frame, tighten both axle bolts, re-connect the V-brake’s cable.
11.Re-connect the motor cable being careful to align the two highlighted arrows () before
applying full pressure to achieve the waterproof seal.
The only other maintenance item is the V-brake pad set. As they wear down you can maintain your
stopping power by turning the barrel adjuster on the brake lever counter clockwise. The pads will
eventually require replacement. They are inexpensive, but their installation may not be trivial.
You can periodically wipe down your JackRabbit with a damp cloth and mild, water-based cleaner to
maintain its finish. Store your JackRabbit out of direct sunlight and in a dry, cool environment to
prevent unnecessary weathering damage.
