JackRabbit AROUND CARS,

TO MINIMIZE THE AFOREMENTIONED RISKS, PLEASE HEED THE
FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
USE COMMON SENSE in deciding when, where and how you ride your
JackRabbit. There are inherent, unavoidable risks in operating any wheeled
vehicle, especially around other vehicles, people and everyday hazards.
YOUR SAFETY IS UP TO YOU when you are operating your JackRabbit. It is
not possible to list all of the do’s and don’ts. We only list some here.
DO NOT RIDE IF YOUR ARE NOT COMFORTABLE with the JackRabbit or with
the risks of when, where and how you are riding it. It takes physical skills and
good judgment to safely operate your JackRabbit.
DO NOT RIDE JackRabbit IN HAZARDOUS AREAS, or in weather or road
conditions where you do not have adequate stability and control. JackRabbit was
not designed for steep hills, grades or ramps, or for jumps, large bumps, steps,
drainage grates, stunts or racing.
JackRabbit IS NOT A TOY. It is NOT child-proof. It is NOT meant for use by
children.
DO NOT LET YOUR PHONE OR HEADPHONES or anything else distract you
from paying full attention to your operation of your JackRabbit.
NO PASSENGERS are permitted. Any passenger can contribute to a loss of
control or stability and may overload the JackRabbit.
DO NOT RIDE in conditions where other vehicles, riders or people cannot see
you or where you cannot see them.
DO NOT RIDE at night (in the dark) without illuminating front and rear lights.
DO RIDE SAFELY. Drive defensively. Anticipate hazards. Be aware of the
people, vehicles and objects around you.
DO HOLD ON TO THE HANDLEBARS with both hands at all times.
CONTROL YOUR SPEED, keep your right hand near the brake lever while riding
down an incline. Heavier riders will pick up speed quickly. Do not exceed 20 mph.
DO COMPLY WITH ALL RULES AND LAWS APPLICABLE TO YOU and YOUR
JackRabbit. Rules and laws vary from locale to locale, from state to state and from
country to country. It is your responsibility to know and follow those rules and laws,
which are subject to change.
4
PLEASE HEED THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
TO MINIMIZE THE AFOREMENTIONED RISKS
JackRabbit IS NOT A TOY. It is NOT child-proof. Operation by 13-17 year olds
should be accompanied by adult supervision.

CHECKING AND MAINTAINING ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONDITIONS
Check the condition of your JackRabbit each time you are going to ride it. Make sure
the brake and the steering are working properly and that all the components,
including the tires are in good condition. Make sure no nuts, bolts, or other parts are
loose or damaged. Make sure you are in an acceptable condition to ride.
PROPER RIDING ATTIRE
Keep all body parts, hair, clothing, or other personal articles out of the way of
moving parts such as the wheels and the motor.
DO always wear proper protective equipment, including an approved safety helmet.
Helmets may be legally required by local law in your area. Follow the helmet
manufacturer’s instructions for fit, use, and care of your helmet. We recommend
wearing a long-sleeved shirt, long pants and gloves to minimize injury or scrapes in
case of an accident. DO wear athletic shoes (lace-up shoes with rubber soles) and
DO NOT ride barefoot or in open-toed shoes. Be sure to keep your shoelaces tied
and out of the way so they do not get caught in the wheels. Beware of pinching your
fingers or getting them caught in parts when operating the vehicle.
SPEED CONTROL
Pressing the paddle of the Thumb Throttle allows current to flow from the battery to
the motor. Depending on the state of the battery charge a light push will produce
120-168 watts of power. Pressing the paddle to its limit will produce 240-336 watts
of power. (Power diminishes as the battery voltage drops from 42 to 30 volts.) In the
absence of any thumb pressure the rear hub motor freewheels (coasts). This is a
good way to not waste battery power and extend your driving range.
STEERING
JackRabbit's small size and 33” turning radius makes it very nimble--easy to
maneuver around obstacles in traffic and pedestrians.
BRAKE
Your JackRabbit is equipped with a mechanical rear wheel disc brake for maximum
reliability and efficiency. Applying hand pressure to the brake lever adds friction that
slows the rear wheel. With no thumb pressure on the Throttle Paddle, pull the brake
lever towards you to slow down. The more pressure applied to the lever, the faster
JackRabbit will come to a stop. (Brake adjustment and service information on Pg 8.)
WARNING: STOPPING DISTANCES WILL VARY DEPENDING ON YOUR
SPEED, CONDITION OF YOUR TIRES, SURFACE YOU ARE RIDING ON
AND YOUR WEIGHT. ALWAYS FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR
STOPPING DISTANCE BEFORE RIDING IN A BUSY PLACE.

CLIMBING HILLS
JackRabbit’s hill climbing performance is governed by the laws of physics. In other
words, speed depends on rider weight, available power and slope. On a full charge (42
volts) 336 watts of power will propel a 120 lb rider up a 10% slope at 10 mph, or a 240
lb rider at 5 mph. You can calculate any performance scenario at bikecalculator.com. If
the slope is too steep for a given rider’s weight, the controller will automatically cut off
current to the motor to avoid damage. WHEN JACKRABBIT’s UP HILL SPEED
FALLS BELOW 3 mph IT’S TIME STRIDE WITH YOUR FEET.
SADDLE
JackRabbit’s saddle and seat post are common bicycle components and therefore
interchangeable with other models of your choice. Together they offer several planes
of adjustment. Saddle height can be set from 27” to 34” above the ground. Do not
extend the seat post beyond its minimum insertion hash marks. The saddle can
be moved about 2” forward or back along its rails. Finally, the pitch of the saddle can
be tilted up or down to suit your riding comfort.
FOOTRESTS
The folding footrests are designed to support the full weight of the rider on a smooth
road surface. They are not designed for stunts.
USB PORT
JackRabbit's modular battery bank is equipped with a 5-volt, 1-amp USB port for re-
charging personal devices. Devices can be powered while riding your JackRabbit.
FOLDING JACKRABBIT FOR STORAGE/TRANSPORT
JackRabbit shines in its lightweight and ability to fit in
small spaces--the back seat of a car, behind a desk,
hanging from a door, in a closet, etc. To fold the handlebars
flip open the stem’s quick release clamp lever. Push the
silver button and rotate the handlebars 90 degrees. Press
down the quick release lever to hold the handlebars in this
position. When folded in this manner JackRabbit is only
7” wide, 48” long and 39” tall. For more compact storage
the handlebars can be completely removed and held by the
stem clip shown here. The front wheel can be turned around.

FOOTRESTS and KICKSTAND
The folding footrests are designed to support the full weight of the rider on smooth
road surfaces. Please note that the Kickstand folds up with a FORWARD motion.

BATTERY AND CHARGER USE AND CARE
JackRabbit employs the most advance lithium-ion battery technology developed by Tesla
and Panasonic. Ten INR21700 cells are connected in series to a BMS circuit that
manages the charge and discharge performance assuring safe operation. An LED battery-
level-indicator and USB charging port are integrated in the battery bank. These
components are sealed in a durable weatherproof case which locks in the frame. The 36
volt bank stores 4.4 amp-hours (160 watt-hours) of energy. This the highest capacity
allowed by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Two per passenger can be carried
on domestic and international flights. Each battery bank can deliver 10-20 miles of range
depending on terrain, a rider’s weight and how much stride-glide assist is applied.
The charger supplied with your JackRabbit is specifically designed to recharge its lithium-ion cells.
*The use of any other charger may cause permanent damage to your JackRabbit Battery*
Examine the charger regularly for damage to the cord or plug. In the event of damage, do
not charge JackRabbit’s battery until the charger has been repaired or replaced. If the
charger emits unusual sounds or odors, immediately stop using it and contact us.
Recharge the battery after every use. This is the best practice for extending the life of your
battery up to 1000 cycles. When it will no longer hold a charge it can be replaced.
The charger’s light will change from red to green when the battery is fully charged. This will
take about 2.5 hours if the battery is fully drained--less time if it is only partially discharged.
Use only the provided charger, as a lithium ion battery requires a specially designed charger.
Unplug charger and disconnect from your Battery Bank when not in use.
Never store the battery in a discharged state. Store battery in a cool, dry place. (If not used
for an extended period of time, charge the battery fully and then recharge every 3 months).
Recharge the battery before it becomes completely discharged. (Completely discharging the
battery reduces its capacity and life span.)
Do NOT subject the battery or charger to extremely high temperatures such as in direct
sunlight, near a fire, etc.
Do NOT store the battery or charger in extremely low temperatures.
Do NOT immerse the battery or charger in water or other liquids.
Do NOT place the battery or charger near flammable or corrosive substances.
The charger is NOT weather proof. Keep dry and away from water and fire.
Do NOT attempt to disassemble, repair or modify the battery.
Follow proper battery disposal procedure: Recycle lithium-ion batteries. Do not throw away in
regular trash or attempt to incinerate.
Warning: Improper use, storage, handling or disposal of a battery or
the charger can result in fire, electrocution, serious injury or even
death.

REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND APPEARANCE CARE
Simplicity is a hallmark of JackRabbit’s design. We’ve chosen to use mature and readily
available components. This design strategy not only improves reliability, but also reduces
the documentation you have to read through. This Owner’s Manual is half the size of
JackRabbit’s competitors.
If either tire should suffer a puncture you can take your JackRabbit to a bicycle shop where
installing a new inner tube will cost about $15. Or for a rear tire puncture you can:
1. Unplug the 9-pin motor cable.
2. Loosen the two 17 mm axle bolts
3. Remove the wheel from the frame.
4. Unseat the tire bead from the rim using a plastic pry tool.
5. Remove the inner tube.
6. Inspect the inside wall of the tire and remove what may remain of the cause of the
puncture--otherwise your new tube may pop!
7. Install a new inner tube--or the old one after patching it.
8. Reseat the tire bead then inflate to 20-35 psi. Note: lower pressures increase the chance of
a puncture. Higher pressures will not absorb bumps as well.
9. Reinstall the rear wheel in the frame, tighten both axle bolts securely. (25 lb-ft)
10.Re-connect the motor cable being careful to align the two highlighted arrows () before
applying full pressure to achieve the waterproof seal.
The only other maintenance item is the disc brake pad set. As they wear down you can maintain
your stopping power by turning the barrel adjuster on the brake lever counter clockwise. The pads
will eventually require replacement. They are inexpensive, but their installation may not be trivial.
You can periodically wipe down your JackRabbit with a damp cloth and mild, water-based cleaner
to maintain its finish. Store your JackRabbit out of direct sunlight and in a dry, cool environment to
prevent unnecessary weathering damage.
