JangleBox JB3 User manual

Unrivalled Versatility
The key to maximizing the eectiveness of the JB3 is to understand
the basic setup. The On/O switch (red LED) controls the Bass,
Treble, Gain and Attack functions. The J-Boost (blue LED) controls
the J-Boost Gain and J-Boost Bass and Treble. The Attack knob is
common to both sides of the compressor. When the J-Boost is
activated, the regular Bass, Treble and Gain are inoperable.
Among many variations, the J-Boost can work as a treble or bass
boost, or, by adjusting the J-Boost Gain louder than the regular Gain,
can create a “boost-on-boost” eect.

Congratulations on Your New
JangleBox JB3 Compressor!
The JangleBox JB3 is our most outstanding compressor
yet — one that gives discerning guitarists the greatest
performance and recording versatility available.
With the J-Boost EQ and Gain features, this is the only
true boost-and-tone, two-stage stompbox compressor on
the market today. Handmade in the USA, the JangleBox
JB3 delivers the distinctive compression edge for
demanding pros and aspiring artists alike.
■ True bypass
■ Dual output
■ Separate, full EQ on both sides of the compressor
■ Mute switch
■ Adjustable J-Boost Gain
■ Adjustable J-Boost Bass & Treble
■ Updated IC chip that’s more stable than ever
The JB3 is Simple to Set Up and Operate
As every guitar-and-amp combination is dierent for each guitarist,
you’ll want to experiment with the JB3 settings. We suggest first
adjusting the Bass and Treble to your desired tone, both on the regular
side of the compressor and the J-Boost side. Next, turn the Gain and
Attack knobs to the “12 o’clock” position, then tweak the volume and
compression to your satisfaction from there. Finally, adjust the J-Boost
Gain to add (or lower) volume and/or create a dierent tone.
■The Gain settings adjust volume and amount of compression.
The Attack setting adjusts the intensity of compression. The
Attack knob is common to both the regular side of the JB3 and the
J-Boost side. The Gain and Attack are interactive in the sense that
you cannot turn either all the way o. One works in tandem with
the other.
■The J-Boost switch is the second stage of the JB3 that can be
used to create a dierent tonal variation and/or up to a 20-25 dB
volume boost. Adjust the J-Boost Gain for soloing, or the J-Boost
Bass and Treble for sounds ranging from warm bass to ultra-
bright treble. You can activate the J-Boost so that it comes on
when you hit the main On/O switch.
■The J-Boost Gain and J-Boost Bass and Treble settings function
only when the J-Boost is switched on (blue light). See the back
panel for further explanation.
■When daisy-chaining a series of additional pedal eects, you
should place the JB3 first in the sequence (plug your guitar into
the JB3) to take full advantage of its true bypass.
■Use any standard 9V pin negative power source or the 9V battery
included with each unit. If you use a 9V battery to power your
pedal, compression will decrease as the battery wears. Remove
the four screws on the underside of the box to replace the battery.
