workwell.Manufacturerwillnotberesponsibleforanyconsequentialloss
in theevent offailuretocaptureimages.
lUseonlyrecommended batteries.Ifbatteriesbecomeexhausted,remove
oldandinstallnewbatteries,but first -downloadimagestocomputerasthe
datafromcamerasmemorywillbe deleted when batteriesareremoved.

Protection ofcaptured data
lDoNOTturnoff thecameraorremovebatterieswhilethecamerais
processing asthedatabeing stored willbelost. Removingbatterieswill
causealldatainmemorytobedeleted.
lAlwaysprotect importantdatabymaking abackupcopy.
lSomeimagesmaybeprotectedbycopyright. Sopleaseensureyoucomply
withalllegal requirementsincapturingorcopyingimagesorvideo.
Moistureandcondensation
Moisturemaycondenseinsideoroutsideofthecamerawhen youbring it
fromcold (sayoutdoors)towarm(sayheatedhome)environment. The
moisturemaycausetemporarymalfunction of thecamera.
DoNOTturnONthecameraimmediatelybutwait aboutanhourforthe
moisturetoevaporate. If youshootprematurelywithsomemoisture
remaininginsidethelens,youwillbeunabletorecordclearimagesorvideo.
Cameracareand cleaning
lIfnecessarycleanthecamerasurfacewithasoft clothslightlymoistened

withwater,thenwipethesurfacewithadrysoft cloth
lKeep thelenscleanfromdust, fingerprintsormoisturetoavoidblurry
images.
lKeep yourcameraawayfromfollowingaggressivechemical substances
astheymaydamagethecamera: thinner,benzene, alcohol,liquidsoap,
sunscreen,etc.
lAvoidtouchingthecameralenswithyourhand.
Protection ofcamera
lDoNOTusecamerainverydamporextremeweatherconditions.
lDoNOTdrop orknock theproduct. Yourcameraisadelicateelectronic
device. Rough handlingmaydamagetheinternalcomponentsoraffect the
settings.
lDoNOTuseorstorecameraindusty,dirtyorsandyordampenvironment
astheelementsmaydamagethecamera.Keepcameracleananddry.

2.1Batteryloading
Open thebatterycompartmentandinsert twoAAAsize1.5Valkalinebatteriesaligning
themcorrectly-matching thepolarityon baseofbatterycompartment. Closethe
compartment andpress thePOWERbutton. Thenumber25willappearontheLCD
screen of thecamera.Thisindicatesthatitisreadytotake25"high-resolution"
photographsand thatitsmemoryisempty.
Whensymbolsblinkon theLCD screenindicatinglowbatterypower,pleasechangethe
batteries.
Caution:Pleasefirst transferyourcapturedphotosorvideo clipstocomputervia
USB cablebeforechangingbatteries-topreserveimages.Allimagescaptured
willbedeleted when batteriesareremoved.
2.2Changing function modes
The LCDscreen displaysdifferent symbolswhentheMODEbutton ispressed.
The iconsandfunctionsareasfollows:

2.3Takingphotos
TurncameraONandstillpicturemode(defaultmode)isreadytooperate. When
pressingtheshutterbutton,adistinct beepcan beheardindicatingphotohas
been taken. Thenumberdisplayed ontheLCD screenisautomaticallyreduced.
CAUTION:When lightislowthecameraneedsmoretimetoautomaticallyadjust
exposure.Thebeepwill onlysoundafterasmall delay,sopleaseholdcamera
steadyduring thistimeinterval toavoidblurrypictures.
2.4Sleepmode(automaticenergy-saving)
The cameragoesintosleep modeautomaticallyafter30secondsofinactivity(orif

it isnot connected toacomputerviatheUSB cable).
Youcanmanuallyactivatesleepmodebypressing thePOWERbutton foraround
1secondand then releasingthebutton.Alternatively, youcanpress MODEbutton
until "off"isshownontheLCD screen.Then press theshutterbutton tovalidate
thisselection andabeepwill soundtoconfirm.Insleep modeenergy
consumption isverylowandthebatterylifeisprolonged.Touseyourcamera
againsimplypress thePOWERbutton.
2.5Self-Timermode
Press theMODEbutton untiltheLCD screen displays"Self-timer"icon.
Press theshutterbutton; “beep”will soundand theLEDlightwillblinkatone
secondintervals. Camerawillautotakepictureafter10seconddelayed time.
2.6AVImode
Press theMODEbutton untiltheLCD displayshows<AVI Capture>.
Press theshutterbutton,andthecamerawillcontinuouslycapturemultiple ‘movie
framesuntilyou releasethebutton.
2.7Continuousshooting
Press theMODEbuttonuntil theLCD screendisplays"continuousshooting"mode.
Press theshutterbutton andthecamerawill takethree (3)consecutivephotos.
The numberon theLCDscreen willreduceaccordingly.
2.8Deletingallthephotossavedtomemory
Press theMODEbutton untiltheLCD screen displaystheicon "deleteall photos"
andthen press theshutterbutton twicetovalidateyourchoice.Allthephotos
stored inthecamerawillbedeleted.(Thepreviouslyselected resolution modewill
notchange).

2.9Deletingthelast photossaved tomemory
Press theMODEbutton untiltheLCD screen displaystheicon "deletelast photo
taken"and thenpress theshutterbutton tovalidate. Thelastphotocaptured will
bedeleted. Iflastphotowastaken incontinuousshootingmodethenthewhole
group ofphotoswill bedeleted.
2.10Modifyingresolution"LO"
Whenyou needtotakemanyphotosinonesession you can choose"low
resolution"mode.Press theMODEbuttonuntiltheLCDscreen displaysthe
symbol "LO" andthen press theshutterbuttontoconfirm.If you wanttochange
back into"high-resolution"mode,press theMODEbuttonuntiltheLCDscreen
displaysthesymbol "HI"andthen press theshutterbuttontoconfirm.
2.11Modifythecompression mode
Press theMODEbutton untiltheLCD screen displays “Hd”andthen press the
shutterbutton toconfirm.
Note: Sometimestheactualnumberofphotosthatwillbedisplayedand that can
becaptured in low&compression modesmaybedifferent depending onthe
actual sceneandbackgroundconditions.
2.12Modifyingfrequency
Modifythe “anti-flicker”frequencyifneededwhen youtakephotosindoorswith
fluorescentlighting.Frequencyissetbydefault to60Hz(suitableforNorth
American householdACpower). Press theMODEbutton untiltheLCD screen
displaysthe"anti-flicker"mode(50/60)andthen press theshutterbutton to
confirmselection.
3. Installation and Utilization ofthesoftwareprogram
InserttheCDinyourCD-ROMdrive, andtheapplication will runautomatically.
Aninterfacewillappear. Ontheleftoftheinterfacetherearefourbuttons.

3.1.1Arcsoft PhotoImpression
Click<Arcsoft ImagingSoftware>, then <PhotoImpression>and thenfollowthe
step-by-stepinstructionstocompletetheinstallation.
3.1.2Arcsoft VideoImpression
Click<Arcsoft ImagingSoftware>, then <VideoImpression>andthenfollowthe
step-by-stepinstructionstocompletetheinstallation.
Install Arcsoft (Selectlanguage)
3.2Installationofdriver
Clickon<InstallDC driver>andfollowthestep-
by-stepinstructionstocompletetheinstallation.
Aftersuccessful installation of driver, restart
yourcomputer.
3.3Downloading picture
ConnectthecameratoyourcomputerwiththeUSBcable.Doubleclick<My
DSC2>on thecomputerdesktop. Clickon<MyDSC2>.Theinterfacewill appear
on thescreen.

Clickon<Downloadphotos>.Theslidesofthephotosthat youhavetakenappear
on theinterface. Byclickingtheright orleftbutton ofthemouseon oneof the
slidesyou can zoomin andzoomout on thephoto.
Clickthebutton "selectallphotos";allthephotoswillbeselected. Then clickthe
button "savephotos"totransferthephotostoyourcomputer.

Afterhavingsavedthephotosyoucan emptythememoryof yourcamera(delete
allphotoswhicharesavedinthememory)andstarttakingpicturesagain.
3.4Uploadingaphotowitharesolution of 1.3Mpixels
A: Clickon<Download photos>, select “Editimage”button;
B: Select the “PixelUp”Option (You can select “High QualityMode”togetbetterimage),
then selectthe “OK”buttontoESC
C: DownloadedphotosandthephotosoriginallytakeninVGAformat arenow
savedtoyourcomputerin1.3Mpixels.
4. Problem-solving
Herearethemost commonlyencounteredproblems:
Whenyou press thePOWERbutton, thecameradoesnot turnon:
Solution: Batterylevelislow.Youshould changethebatteries.
Thecameracannottransferphotoson tothecomputeroritsaysthereareno
photos:
Solution: Restartthecomputerandreconnect thecamera.
Check inthecontrol panel/systemsettings.
Ifthecameradevicedriverisnot present reinstall itagain

5. Downloading Images
1. Withthecameraconnected toyourPC, run theArcSoft Photoimpression5™
softwarebyclicking Start, All Programs,ArcSoft Photoimpression 5, then
Photoimpression 5.
The "GetPhoto"screen will appear. Takeaminutetofamiliariseyourselfwiththis
andtheothersoftwareinterfacesasyouworkthroughtheseinstructions.
Toaccess theon-linehelp,click on the ‘Help Optionatthetopmenubarand
select
Help.
Totransferyourphotos, just clickonthe Camera/Scanner option onthe"Get
Photo"screen. Select thedeviceDualCamera.Select ‘Pixel Up if youwantto
interpolatethephotostakenand clickOK. Thephotoshavebeensaved inyour
‘MyDocuments\MyPictures folder.
Hereyou can edit, enhance,addspecial effectsandsavethemonyourcomputer
oron removablemediae.g. floppydisc oraCD-Rif youhavethefacility.
2. VideoImpression2isapowerfulvideo editingsoftwaretool forproducing
custommoviesandslideshowsusingyourownvideo clipsandpicturestaken by
thecamera.

6. PC/WebcamFunction
ByrunningthePCCamsoftwareyoucan capturereal-timevideosorimages,save
themonyourPCandemailthem.
Open thePCCAMprogrambydoubleclickingon the"MyDSC2"icon on your
desk-top,then doubleclickingonthePCCAMicon.Clickon Options then Preview
tosee whatthecameracansee. Byclicking Capture you can setatimelimit for
yourmovieclip (thisisuseful if you intendtoemailtheclipanddon'twanttosend
largeemails). Click File, then Set Capturefiletospecifythenameandlocation of
yoursavedmovieclip. Then click Capture and StartCapture.Bydefault,thefile
willbesavedinyour"MyDocuments"folder.
Thisfilecan beviewed byplayingitinWindowsMediaPlayeranditcan be
emailed asaregularfileattachment.
Foradvanced users:
Thiscameracanalsofunction asawebcamwithweb conferencingsoftware, for
example,Microsoft NetMeeting™. Pleaserefertotheinstructionsincluded with
