Thank you for buying this JB Systems®product. To take full advantage of all possibilities, please read these
operating instructions very carefully.

•72 DMX channels over 8 faders and 9 pages.
•6 chases of 40 steps (scenes) each can be programmed.

•No external power adapters thanks to the build in power supply!

Some important instructions:
•Before you start using this unit, please check if there’s no transportation damage. Should there be any, do
not use the device and consult your dealer first.
•Important: This device left our factory in perfect condition and well packaged. It is absolutely necessary
for the user to strictly follow the safety instructions and warnings in this user manual. Any damage caused
by mishandling is not subject to warranty. The dealer will not accept responsibility for any resulting defects
or problems caused by disregarding this user manual.
•Keep this booklet in a safe place for future consultation. If you sell the fixture, be sure to add this user
manual.
•To protect the environment, please try to recycle the packing material as much as possible.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
•To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.
•To avoid condensation to be formed inside, allow the unit to adapt to the surrounding temperatures when
bringing it into a warm room after transport. Condense sometimes prevents the unit from working at full
performance or may even cause damages.
•This unit is for indoor use only.
•Don’t place metal objects or spill liquid inside the unit. No objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be
placed on this appliance. Electric shock or malfunction may result. If a foreign object enters the unit,
immediately disconnect the mains power.
•No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the appliance.
•Don’t cover any ventilation openings as this may result in overheating.
•Prevent use in dusty environments and clean the unit regularly.
•Keep the unit away from children.
•Inexperienced persons should not operate this device.
•Maximum save ambient temperature is 40°C. Don’t use this unit at higher ambient temperatures.
•Always unplug the unit when it is not used for a longer time or before you start servicing.
•The electrical installation should be carried out by qualified personal only, according to the regulations for
electrical and mechanical safety in your country.
•Check that the available voltage is not higher than the one stated on the rear panel of the unit.
•The socket inlet shall remain operable for disconnection from the mains.
•The power cord should always be in perfect condition: switch the unit immediately off when the power cord
is squashed or damaged. It must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified
persons in order to avoid a hazard
•Never let the power-cord come into contact with other cables!
•In order to avoid a hazard, the unit shall only be used with the AC-adaptor delivered with it. If the AC-
adaptor is damaged, a same model adaptor shall be used only.
•In order to prevent electric shock, do not open the cover. Apart from the mains fuse there are no user
serviceable parts inside.
•Never repair a fuse or bypass the fuse holder. Always replace a damaged fuse with a fuse of the same
type and electrical specifications!
•In the event of serious operating problems, stop using the appliance and contact your dealer immediately.
•Please use the original packing when the device is to be transported.
•Due to safety reasons it is prohibited to make unauthorized modifications to the unit.
MAINTENANCE
Clean by wiping with a polished cloth slightly dipped with water. Avoid getting water inside the unit. Do not
use volatile liquids such as benzene or thinner which will damage the unit.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not
remove the top cover. No user-serviceable parts inside.
Refer servicing to qualified service personnel only.
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within the equilateral triangle is intended to alert the
use or the presence of un-insulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may
be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within the equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence
of important operation and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying
this appliance.

The device is suitable for mounting on standard flammable surfaces. Standard flammable
surfaces include building materials such as wood and wood-based materials more than 2mm
thick.

FUNCTIONS
1. CHANNEL FADERS: change the output level of the channel.
2. CHANNEL/SPEED FADER: can be used for different purposes, depending on the working mode:
•[Manual] mode: used as channel fader to change the output level of the channel.
•[Chase] mode: CHANNEL fader closed →speed of the running chase at minimum (slow).
CHANNEL fader open (100%) →speed at maximum (fast)
3. CHANNEL/CROSS FADER: can be used for different purposes, depending on the working mode:
•[Manual] mode: used as channel fader to change the output level of the channel.
•[Chase] mode: CHANNEL fader closed (0%) →fade time between scenes (steps) at minimum .
CHANNEL fader open (100%) →fade time between scenes (steps) at maximum.
4. [PROGRAM] BUTTON: Press this button to put the controller in program mode. You can now start
programming chases (6 chases with maximum 40 scenes (steps) in each chase)
5. [BLACKOUT/SHIFT] BUTTON: Press this button to put the controller in blackout mode.(no DMX output)
In program mode, this button will have another function (see chapter HOW TO SETUP).

6. [CHASE] BUTTONS ([CHASE1 …6]): Used to select a chase to run or to program.
7. [PAGE ▲] BUTTON: Used to go up through the pages from 1 to 9
8. [PAGE ▼] BUTTON: Used to go down through the pages from 9 to 1
9. INFORMATION DISPLAY 2: (12)
A. Digit 1 shows the number of the active page.
B. Digit 2 shows the number of the active chase.
C. This dot will lit when the controller is in program mode.
D. Digit 3-4 show the number of the active channel.
10. [ADD] BUTTON: Used to add or select scenes (steps) to the
chases depending of the working mode.
11. INFORMATION DISPLAY 1: (11) Shows the value of the
channels or the scene (step).
12. [DELETE] BUTTON: Used to delete or select scenes (steps)
depending of the working mode.
13. [M-DMX] OUTPUT: Please note that this USB-connector is
NOT used for updates or to connect the unit to a PC! Instead
this USB-connector makes it very easy to add wireless DMX
to the unit! Just add the (optional) WTR-DMX DONGLE from
BRITEQ®and you will get wireless DMX! No extra settings to be made in the setup menu, just follow the
procedure in the user manual supplied with the WTR-DMX DONGLE from BRITEQ®. The separate
WTR-DMX DONGLE is available from WWW.BRITEQ-LIGHTING.COM (order code: B04645)
14. DMX OUTPUT: Sends DMX-signals to the connected units.
15. [UPDATE] CONNECTOR: This micro USB connector can only be used for updating the internal
firmware. Do NOT put in a power adapter nor any other device as this will cause damage to the internal
electronics.
16. POWER SWITCH: used to switch the unit ON/OFF
17. MAINS INPUT with IEC14 socket and integrated fuse holder, connect the supplied mains cable here.
HOW TO SETUP
1. PROGRAM A CHASE:
A. Chases can only be programmed while the unit is set in “program mode”. So first enter “program
mode” by pressing the [PROGRAM] button (4) →red “program DOT”(C) will lit.
B. Select the desired chase to program by pressing one of the chase buttons (6).
C. Use the CHANNEL faders (1) to set the desired scene. (scene is present on the DMX-output)
D. Press the [ADD] button (10) to save the scene. The displays (9, 11) will blink 2 times to confirm that
the scene is saved.
E. Repeat steps C and D to program other scenes. The maximum is 40 scenes per chase.
F. Quit the “program mode”by pressing the [PROGRAM] button (4).
2. MODIFY A PROGRAMMED CHASE/SCENE:
A. Chases/scenes can only be modified while the controller is set in “program mode”. So first enter
“program mode” by pressing the [PROGRAM] button (4) →red “program DOT”(C) will lit.
B. Select the desired chase to modify by pressing the corresponding chase button (6).
C. Select the desired scene to modify by pressing the [DELETE] (12) or [ADD] button (10).
D. Modify the scene by putting the channel faders (1) in the wanted position and save the new scene by
keeping the [BLACKOUT/SHIFT] button (5) pressed and press the [ADD] button (10). The displays
(9, 11) will blink 2 times to confirm that the scene is saved.
E. Repeat steps B, C and D to modify other scenes.
F. Quit the “program mode”by pressing the [PROGRAM] button (4).
3. DELETE A PROGRAMMED SCENE:
A. Chases/scenes can only be deleted while the controller is set in “program mode”. So first enter
“program mode” by pressing the [PROGRAM] button (4) →red “program DOT”(C) will lit.
B. Select the desired chase to delete by pressing the corresponding chase button (6).
C. Select the desired scene to delete by pressing the [DELETE] (12) or [ADD] button (10).
D. Delete the scene by keeping the [BLACKOUT/SHIFT] button (5) pressed and press the [DELETE]
button (12). The displays (9, 11) will blink 2 times to confirm that the scene is deleted.
E. Repeat steps B, C and D to delete other scenes.
F. Quit the “program mode”by pressing the [PROGRAM] button (4).

4. DELETE A PROGRAMMED CHASE:
A. Chases can only be deleted while the controller is set in “program mode”. So first enter “program
mode” by pressing the [PROGRAM] button (4) →red “program DOT”(C) will lit.
B. Select the desired chase to delete by pressing the corresponding chase button (6).
C. Delete the chase by keeping the [BLACKOUT/SHIFT] button (5) pressed and press the [DELETE]
button (12) for 3 seconds. The displays (9, 11) will blink 2 times to confirm that the chase is deleted.
D. Quit the “program mode”by pressing the [PROGRAM] button (4).
5. RUN A PROGRAMMED CHASE:
A. Chases can only run when the controller is out of “program mode”. So first be sure that the DOT (C)
is NOT lit. If the DOT (C) is lit, press the [PROGRAM] button (4) to leave the “program mode”.
B. You can now run any programmed chase you want just by pressing the corresponding chase button
(6)
C. The speed of running the chase can be modified by use of the [SPEED] fader (2).
D. The fade time between scenes can be modified by use of the [CROSS] fader (3).
6. RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS:
ATTENTION ! : This action deletes ALL programmed chases and scenes in the controller!
Keep the [PAGE ▲] (7) and [PAGE ▼](8) buttons pressed while turning on the power of the
controller. The displays (9, 11) will blink several times to confirm that the restore has been done.
ADDRESSING THE CONNECTED UNITS
Each time you build a different installation with the EZ-CON 72, you should check the DMX addresses of the
connected projectors.

•Fader 1 = DMX address 001
•Fader 2 = DMX address 002
•Fader 3 = DMX address 003
