Cleaning the Grill
Grill Grates:Thesearemade from cast aluminumwhich havebeenanodized.Thiscoating will
fade with use.
• The grates shouldbe cleaned after each use.They can be cleaned with detergent and a
plastic scrubber, such asTully, or washed in the dishwasher if burned on residueis first
removed.For heavy soil, grates can be soaked in hot, soapy water to which a cleanser,
such ashouseholdammonia,has been added.
•Donot use metalbrushesor abrasive scouring pads or other scrubbers intended to clean
outdoor charcoal grills. These will removethe finish as well as scratch the grates. Do not
clean in the self-cleaningoven or use oven¢leanerson the grates.
GrUloRockCa_lc_IdRes:These aremade from cast-iron which have been coated with
porcelainenamel.
•The grill-rock cartridges should be cleaned frequently or after any excessive build up of
grease.To clean ]ight soil,use detergentand aplastic scrubber, such asTufty, or washin
the dishwasherif burnedon residue isfirst removed.For heavysoil, soak inhot, soapy
water to which a cleanser,such as householdammonia, hasbeen added.Stubbornspots
on grill-rocks,such as burnedon residue from sauces, can be scrubbedwith a stiff bristle
brush.
• An oven cleaner, such as Easy-Off,can be usedfor burnedon soil. Follow manufacturer's
directions; spray on cleaner and let soak overnight. Donotclean grill-rooks in the self-
cleaning oven.
Grill Element:Follow instructionson page17 for removingthe grill element.Thegrill element
shouldnever be immersedin water. Mostsoil will burn off during use.The terminal block may be
cleaned with soapyS.O.S.pad. Drythoroughly before reinserting in the range.
Porcelain Drain Pan:This area, located under the grill-r0ck cartridges, should be cleaned
after each heavy use of the grill.
• To removelight soil, clean area with soapy water or spray with cleansers such as 409or
Grease Relief.For easierclean-up,soakpaper towelsin a householdcleanser, lay in drain
pan,andsoak for at least a half-houror longer.
• To remove moderate soil, scrub with Comet, BOOAmi, asoft scrub cleanseror plastic
scrubber.
• Toremovestubborn soil, spraywith anoven cleanersuch as EasyOff; let soak overnight,
wipe clean, rinseand dry.
Grease Confiner: This containercollectsgrease andother liquids
created while grilling or using some of the accessories;or spillovers
while using the conventional coil cartridge. Empty when grease is
noticeablethrough containerwindow.
• Checkthe containerperiodically to prevent greasefrom spilling
over.If thisshouldhappen,the greasewillflow overthefrontof the
containerthusalertingyoutoemptythecontainer.Thecontaineris
madefrom polypropyleneandcanbewashedinhot,soapywater.
A few tablespoonsof dishwashingliquid and water addedto a
clean containerwill makeit easierto empty when full. May be
washedin dishwasher.
•A metaldrain tube leadsfrom the rightgrill basin to the grease
container. Ifthe right§ideofthe rangeisusedfor mostofthe grill-
ing, oocassionallypour a cup of hot, soapy water through the
drain tube,If the tubeshouldbecomeclogged with greaseor food particles,use aflexible
wire and gentlypush through the drain tube to clear; thenflush with hot water.
