FUNCTION SELECTOR
(TAPE/FM/AM)
POWER SOURCE
The MCR-60 operates on t o 1.5V DC “AA” size (UM-3) alkaline batteries (Not Included)
or ith an AC-DC adaptor ith 5V DC 600mA output (Not Included).
A. BATTERY OPERATION (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED)
1. Open the battery door located on the back of the unit.
2. Follo the polarity diagram (+ and -) sho n on the back of the cabinet, and insert
2 'AA' (UM-3) batteries, and close the battery door.
IMPORTANT:
Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity could
damage the unit and void the arranty.
Not s:
1.)
For best performance and longer operating time, e recommend the use of
good quality alkaline battery.
2.)
The batteries need to be replaced hen if the volume level becomes
significantly lo er, if the sound is distorted during operation or the unit no
longer functions properly.
BATTERY WARNING
•
Be sure the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit.
•
Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
•
Do not mix old and ne batteries.
•
Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium)
batteries.
•
If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. Old
or leaking batteries can cause damage to the unit and may void the arranty.
•
Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and
rupture. (Follo battery manufacturer’s directions).
•
Do not dispose of batteries in fire, batteries may leak or explode.

B. DC INPUT - USB POWER
The unit includes a USB to DC po er cord that can be plugged into a USB cellphone all
art charger (not included) or the USB port on your computer to po er the MCR-60.
•
The USB port must have a minimum output of DC 5V 600mA.
•
Insert the DC plug end of the included cord into the DC IN JACK (#12) on the unit.
•
Plug the other end of the cord into a USB port source (not included), like a cellphone
charger, po er bank or computer USB port.
•
The batteries ill automatically disconnect hen the DC plug is plugged into the unit
and the unit ill operate using the USB po er source.
C. DC INPUT - AC ADAPTOR (AC ADAPTOR NOT INCLUDED)
1. Plug the cord of the AC adaptor into the DC IN JACK (#12) of the MCR-60.
2. Plug the AC adaptor into a household 120V/60Hz AC po er outlet.
3. The batteries ill automatically disconnect hen the AC adaptor is plugged into the
unit and the unit ill operate using the AC adaptor po er.
NOTE: Only use adaptor ith an output voltage
rated at DC 5V 600mA ith a
center positive plug.
RADIO OPERATION
1.
Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#20) to the AM or FM position.
2.
Rotate the TUNING CONTROL (#10) to select the desired radio station.
3.
Adjust the VOLUME CONTROL (#18) to obtain the desired sound level from the
built-in speaker.
4.
To turn the radio off, s itch the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#20) to “TAPE” position.
TIPS FOR BEST RADIO RECEPTION
1. FM or FM Stereo reception:
a. The Telescopic Antenna should be fully extended to get the best FM reception.
b. When listening ith the included earbuds, the cord of the earbuds orks as an
external FM antenna. Make sure the cord from the earbuds is un rapped and fully
extended for best reception.
2 When using the AM radio, be sure to place the unit in a vertical position. For best AM
reception, keep turning the unit slo ly hile keeping it vertical until the best signal is
obtained.

CASSETTE PLAYER OPERATION
CASSETTE PLAYBACK
1. Open the CASSETTE DOOR (#1) and insert a pre-recorded cassette tape ith the
exposed tape facing up ards then close the CASSETTE DOOR(#1).
2. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#20) to “TAPE” position.
3. Press the PLAY
BUTTON (#14) and adjust the VOLUME CONTROL (#18) to obtain
the desired sound level.
4. Press the FAST FORWARD BUTTON (#15) or REWIND BUTTON (#16) to quickly
advance or re ind the tape.
5. Press the STOP BUTTON (#13) at any time to stop playback.
6. The tape playback ill stop automatically hen the end of the tape is reached.
AUTOMATIC STOP
This unit is equipped ith an Automatic Stop System to protect your cassette tapes and
prevent unnecessary ear to the pinch roller of the cassette mechanism. When the tape
ends during playback, the PLAY BUTTON (#14) ill automatically release to stop the
cassette from running.
CASSETTE RECORDING
R cording from th built-in microphon
1. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#20) to “TAPE” position.
2. Open the CASSETTE DOOR (#1) and insert a blank cassette tape.
3. Press the RECORD BUTTON (#17) and PLAY BUTTON (#14) do n at the same
time and the unit ill start recording from the built-in microphone.
4. Press the STOP BUTTON (#13) to stop recording.
5. To listen to hat as recorded, press the REWIND BUTTON (#16) to re ind the
tape and then press the PLAY BUTTON (#14) to hear hat as recorded.
6. Press the STOP BUTTON (#13) to stop playback

1. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#20) to “TAPE” position.
2. Plug an external microphone (not included) into the external microphone jack (#11).
3. Open the CASSETTE DOOR (#1) and insert a blank cassette tape.
4. Press the RECORD BUTTON (#17) and PLAY BUTTON (#14) do n at the same
time and the unit ill start recording from the external microphone.
5. Press the STOP BUTTON (#13) to stop recording.
6. To listen to hat as recorded, press the REWIND BUTTON (#16) to re ind the
tape and then press the PLAY BUTTON (#14) to hear hat as recorded.
7. Press the STOP BUTTON (#13) to stop playback.
R cording from th radio
1. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#20) to AM or FM and tune in the station you ant
to record using the TUNING CONTROL (#10).
2. Press the RECORD BUTTON (#17) and PLAY BUTTON (#14) do n at the same
time and the unit ill start recording from the radio.

3. Press the STOP BUTTON (#13) to stop recording.
4. To listen to hat as recorded; set the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#20) to “TAPE”
position.
5. Press the REWIND BUTTON (#16) to re ind the tape and then press the PLAY
BUTTON (#14) to hear hat as recorded.
6. Press the STOP BUTTON (#13) to stop playback.
NOTES:
1. The unit features Auto Level Control (ALC), so the VOLUME CONTROL (#18)
does not affect the sound level hen recording. When recording from either the
built-in microphone or hen using an external microphone, keep the microphone
approximately 2 - 3 inches from the source that you are recording
2. You may receive some interference hen recording from the AM radio.
3. PROTECTION AGAINST ACCIDENTAL ERASURE: When you record on a
cassette, the previous recordings are erased automatically. To protect them
against any risk of accident erasure, cassettes are provided ith protective tabs
for this purpose. Remove the protective tab (or both) located at the top of the
cassette using a knife or a scre driver. If you subsequently need to re-record on a
cassette protected in this ay, you can cancel this protection by covering the hole
revealed ith a piece of adhesive tape. It is not possible to press the RECORD
button if the protective tab has been removed and has not been replaced by
adhesive tape.
4. Do not force do n RECORD BUTTON (#17) if the tape’s erase-protection tabs
have been removed, or you ill damage the recorder.
CASSETTE TAPE OPERATING TIPS
1. High quality tapes are recommended to obtain maximum quality reproduction from
recordings.
2. Tapes ith playing time of 120 minutes (C-120) are not recommended because they
contain thinner and longer tape that has a greater chance to malfunction and jam,
hich may damage the cassette mechanism.
3. To obtain good reproduction, the head should be cleaned after every 10 to 20 hours
of use. It is also recommended that the cassette be kept a ay from excessive heat or
cold.
4. If there is slack in the tape, remove the slack prior to inserting the
cassette. To remove the slack, insert a pencil into the hub and
rotate clock ise.

6. A leader tape is provided at the beginning on
each cassette. There is no recording on this
area, so it is necessary to let the tape run for
about five seconds to clear the head.
7. Keep the tape head clean since a dirty head
can cause distorted sound or improper tape
speed. Depress the PLAY BUTTON (#14)
and use a small cotton s ab ith tape head cleaner or alcohol to clean the tape head,
capstan and pinch roller.
BLUETOOTH OPERATION (CASSETTE PLAYER ONLY)
The MCR-60 features Bluetooth ireless output for the cassette player only, so it can be
connected to Bluetooth compatible headphones (not included) and Bluetooth speakers
(not included).
1. Slide the BLUETOOTH ON/OFF SWITCH (#4) located on the back of the MCR-60 to
“ON” mode to enter the Bluetooth transmit mode.
2. When the cassette player is in Bluetooth transmit mode, the blue Bluetooth indicator
near the BLUETOOTH ON/OFF SWITCH (#4) ill flash. The pairing process could
take up to 30 seconds. For best results, stay ithin 3 ft. of the Bluetooth speaker you
are pairing to.
3. When the Bluetooth connection is made, the blue Bluetooth indicator ill stop flashing
and remain lit.
4. You are no connected to your external Bluetooth device.
5. Press the PLAY
BUTTON (#14) to begin playing the cassette and the sound ill be
heard from the external Bluetooth device. If you are connected to a Bluetooth device
ith a play/pause button and do not hear the audio, press the play/pause button on the
device.
6. Press the STOP BUTTON (#13) to stop the cassette playback.
7. Slide the BLUETOOTH ON/OFF SWITCH (#4) to the “OFF” to turn off Bluetooth
transmit mode.
Notes:
•
When using Bluetooth, no audio ill be heard from the speaker or through ired
earbuds attached to the unit.
•
When in Bluetooth mode, the volume level can only be adjusted using the volume
control on the external Bluetooth device.
•
If the cassette player stops playing, the Bluetooth transmit function ill be
automatically turn off after 5 minutes. When this happens, you ill need to repeat the
connection steps above to relink the Bluetooth device to the MCR-60 if you ant to
continue playing cassettes in Bluetooth transmit mode.

USING EARBUDS
Inserting the plug of the included earbuds into the HEADPHONE JACK (#8) to listen to the
radio or a cassette in private. The built-in speaker automatically disconnects hen the
earbuds are plugged in.
NOTE: The headphone jack may not ork properly if you are using earbuds that have a
different plug type or plug configuration than the ones supplied ith this unit.
CAUTION:
•
Avoid excessive volume levels for long period of time hen using the earphones.
Prolonged use at high levels may impair your hearing.
•
Keep the volume at a reasonable level even if your headset is an open-air type
designed to allo you to hear outside sounds. Please note that excessively high
volume may still block outside sounds
LINE-OUT CONNECTION
The MCR-60 features a 3.5mm stereo LINE-OUT JACK (#9) that allo s you to connect it
to your home stereo system, or to external amplified speakers using a stereo audio cable
(not included).
The audio cable needed (not included) must have a 3.5mm stereo plug on one end for
plugging into the MCR-60. The other end of the cord should have a stereo plug or
individual left and right channel plugs that match the AUDIO LINE INPUTS on the device
you ant to connect to.
Once the MCR-60 is connected to the external device, the volume control on the
MCR-60 ill not adjust the volume. Use the volume control on the external device for
adjusting the volume.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Clean your unit ith a damp (never et) cloth. Solvent or detergent should never be
used.
2. Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places.
3. Keep your unit a ay from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as
fluorescent lamps or motors.

defective materials or factory orkmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of original
customer purchase and provided the product is utilized ithin the U.S.A. This arranty is not
assignable or transferable. Our obligation under this arranty is the repair or replacement of the
defective unit or any part thereof, except batteries, hen it is returned to the SPECTRA Service
Department, accompanied by proof of the date of original consumer purchase, such as a
duplicate copy of a sales receipt.
You must pay all shipping charges required to ship the product to SPECTRA for arranty service.
