INTRODUCTION
General
To obtain optimum operation of your fireplace in complete safety, we recommend having it
installed by a specialist who will do the work professionally.
The responsibility of Jidé relates to the supply of the appliance. The installation is the
responsibility of the owner who must have it done according to the requirements of this
notice, and in accordance with the applicable regulations and standards of the different
countries governing the installation, insulation and connection of closed wood-burning
fireplaces, in new and old constructions, as well as smoke flues. The appliance may not be
modified as it could present a real danger and will invalidate the warranty.
A list of our dealers-installers is available on our site www.jide.be/en.
Before using your fireplace for the first time and in order to guarantee its good usage and
operation over time, we suggest you carefully read these instructions for use in order to
familiarise yourself with its various functions and characteristics.
Before starting your first fire, please ensure that no material required for the installation is
in the fireplace.
The paint has not been cured and will consequently harden when used for the first time,
causing the release of smoke and odours. We advise you to make a very strong fire and
then ventilate the room well.
Do not remove the plastic film during fitting of the appliance in order to avoid traces left by
a direct contact with paint not fixed. It there are some traces, do not scrub the appliance
with a rag or anything else before warming up, which will fix the painting.
The Aqua Air Flow can be placed or apparent or inset.

Technical characteristics and compliance
Combining ecology and economy, Jidé has created a boiler stove/inset which has an
external combustion air inlet. Primary air flow is sealed to ensure compatibility with a
double stream ventilation system.
The primary air arrives under the grate to foster fire-lighting in the fireplace.
The preheated secondary air creates post-combustion by reburning the gases, and this
greatly improves the efficiency.
The preheated tertiary air has a “turbo” effect, sweeping the glass from top to bottom to
keep it clean and creates a sufficient supply to feed the fire without primary air.
Ecological solution: cleaner emissions, less dust and CO2
Economic: greatly reduced wood consumption.
Jidé subjects its ranges of inserts to tests in approved laboratories so that they meet the
requirements of the European EN standards on safety and efficiency while limiting
CO2 emissions.

Additional parts –Identification plate
In addition to the fireplace, the packaging contains the following elements:
- A poker;
- A cold handle;
- A glove;
- A short stainless steel duct for the smoke link (inset);
- A steel baffle and screw to fix it;
- 4 feet to screw for setting the level of the device;
- A plate with a short tube ø 100 m for connection combustion air;
- A plug plate and screws to obstruct the air inlet not used;
- A paint spray for eventual retouching. Attention: before using the fireplace, make
sure to get the spray out and to keep it away with a minimum distance of 2 m.
- On the packaging, instructions for use with identification plate.
All the Jidé fireplaces are registered as soon as they leave production, according to the
information contained on a plaque that accompanies this notice, stating in particular the
power, efficiency and CO2 emissions of the appliance.
This plaque must be kept and will enable your appliance to be identified in our files
(traceability) if necessary. We advise you to paste it on this user and installation notice or
on your invoice. USER NOTICE
Starting a fire
IMPORTANT actions before starting your fire:
1For the correct use of the appliance, the door must be opened slightly for 15 minutes
with the external air inlet opened to maximum- the time necessary to reach a
sufficient temperature in the fireplace.
2When the window is hot, please close the door. Combustion air inlet is regulated by
the automatic thermostat to obtain reduced wood consumption with respect to the
heat recovered. Your fireplace is in its optimal configuration: post combustion and
maximum efficiency. You can adjust air income by positioning the arm on the right side
according to the heat desired. When the fireplace is in high temperature, a maximal
opening of primary air (arm on the left side) could lead to a risk of black glass (dirty
combustion)
Information –Advice
-The fireplace is designed to a door-closed use, after starting the fire. Reload when only
glowing embers remain.
-An airstat will start automatically the fan of air circulating as soon as temperature in
the heating body reaches 55°C and another will start the water circuit pump
(circulator) when temperature of the exchanger reaches 75°C.

-We advise you to use fire starter cube which facilitate a quicker and cleaner wood
combustion.
-Do not use inflammable liquid products.
Combustion
Combustion air
This sealed device is equipped with a system of external air inlet for combustion air (A).
Setting of combustion air income is made by means of control lever (B) located on the right
side of the device:
-Placed on the left, you fully open combustion air income, it means primary air under
the grate, and secondary air by holes at the back of the fireplace;
-Placed at the centre, you close the primary air inlet. The fireplace works with
secondary combustion air;
-Placed on the right, you almost close fully the combustion air inlet.

The chimney
The smoke produced by the wood combustion is removed through the chimney flue.
The draft of the chimney reduces the pressure in the fireplace, which removes a part of the
smoke and supplies the combustion.
-A good draft will result in a high temperature difference between the inside of the
chimney and the outside of the house.
-Too great a draft will not enable a high enough temperature to be reached for good
combustion (< 15 Pa).
-Too small a draft will lead to a risk of reverse flow, fouling of the window and sooting
of the chimney (> 12 Pa).
An approved chimney sweep should be consulted for any questions regarding the good use
and maintenance of the chimney.

Warm water production
Warm water production is ensured by air circulation in a closed envelope around the
heating body, transiting in an exchanger air/water placed at the bottom of the stove. In
normal working, 50 % of calories produces are diffused by radiating in the room and 50 %
are transmitted in the hydraulic circuit.

Lower valve
Two valves located in front allow closing of the transit by exchanger, in order to use the AAF
in mode 100 % air. The upper valve close the exchanger air inlet and the lower valve open
fan air inlet.
1Air mode
Air mode enable you to heat the room in which is device is placed without giving calories to
water circuit.
Upper and lower valves are open:
-Opening of upper valve leads to closing of air inlet to the exchanger.
-Opening of the lower valve allow air inlet directly to the fan, avoiding the exchanger.
As soon as the temperature above the heating body reaches 55°C, the fan starts.

Temperature in the exchanger being under 75°C (no warm air circulation at the level of the
exchanger), circulator of the exchanger does not start.
Without electricity, open both valve and the working is the same as in air mode, but the fan
does not start and warm air flows out by natural convection by the upper valve. Cool air
comes in the device by the lower valve. However, power will be lower.
2Water mode
Upper and lower valves are closed:
When temperature reaches 55°C above the heating body, the fan starts. It pushes air in a
pipe at the back of the fireplace, which go heat itself thanks to the contact with the smoke
pipe.
Arrived on top of the device, warm air is drawn by inlet holes let available by the closing of
the upper valve. Warm air goes through the air/water exchanger and gives its calories to
water. The cooled air is drawn by the fan and pushed to the top of the device in a closed
circuit.
When the sensor placed next to the exchanger reaches 75°C, circulator starts and warm air
production also does.
Security system
The AAF has many security elements intended to avoid any overheating of water circuit.
1In case of blackout, the fan stops and warm air intake to the air/water exchanger is
automatically stopped;
2In case of the water pump failure (circulator), two sensors measuring air temperature
at the end of the exchanger stop the fan and the warm air intake to the exchanger;
3In case of ventilation stop of working, a thermostat order progressively the closing of
primary air inlet, in order to limit overheating of the stove.

The wood –Choice and usage
The Jidé fireplaces are designed to burn hard wood logs only. The quality of wood is
important.
“Green” wood contains a lot of water (approx. 50 %).
“Dry” wood, kept outside for 24 months covered and well ventilated, still contains 15 %
water.
Damp wood is more difficult to consume, presents a lower calorific power and pollutes the
environment. Damp smoke has disadvantages, for example a reduced draft and the
formation of tar in the flue and on cold surfaces (the window for example).
Split wood presents better combustion and will improve the operation of your fireplace.
The calorific value of wood depends on its type, and the volume of wood required for the
same quantity of heat differs according to this choice. Thus, the “hard” wood varieties such
as beech, oak, whose density is high, will require a lower quantity than other low density
species:

General and security recommendations
We advise against reducing the working of your fireplace, so much to there is no more flame,
sign of a bad combustion. Unburned gas become soot.
Likewise, overloaded, your fireplace will not give you any additional comfort and will lead to
a performance decrease, a useless increase of wood consumption, a loss of heat and an
abnormal wear of your device.
Some weather conditions (violent wind, fog) could influence combustion and chimney draft.
Air income should be adapted.
During removing of ashes, attention to persistent embers!
In case of chimney fire, the door and the external air income must be closed (lever placed on
the right).
Avoid to clean the device with easily inflammable products, even partially.
Avoid to leave cans and inflammable products in the room where the stove is placed.
Avoid to use the fireplace as incinerator or for a different use than for the one it was built for.
Avoid to use other combustibles than the ones recommended, burn only firewood.
Avoid liquid combustibles.
Avoid to touch hot pieces of the stove (glass and smoke outlet) when it is working.
Only use original and recommended spare parts.
Avoid any modification not authorised on the device.
Avoid to unplug electric supply cable when the stove is working.
Do not let children getting close to the stove in use.
Prevent kids and inexperienced people from using the stove.
Do not let the stove in use unattended.
Do not open lower valve when the device is in use (high temperature).
In case of power cut when the stove is full loaded, we advise you to close combustion air
inlet.
Heating installation likely to have mud, resulting from water circuit corrosion must be
regularly maintained. In case of mud excess, the performance of the exchanger may be
decreased. Jidé L.C. could not be hold responsible in case of malfunction caused by mud
excess in heating circuit.
AAF type 67-77 should be placed in a room with enough space to release radiant heat
(AAF 67: 4 to 5 kW in water mode, 4 to 5 in air mode –AAF 77: 5 to 6 kW in water mode,
7 to 9 in air mode). Volume to be heated where the Aqua Air Flow is placed should be at least
100 to 150 m³, depending on isolation of the building.

INSTALLATION NOTICE
Preparation –Arrangements
It is important to check the fireplace upon receipt and to ensure the absence of any
damage during transport.
Positioning
Initial phase to install your stove at best is to find its optimal location. To do so, check the
following points:
-Possibility to have external air inlet;
-Possibility to have a right chimney duct and if possible coaxial at the end of the stove;
-Proximity to the principal hydraulic collector;
-Easy access for cleaning the stove, gas smoke outlet and chimney;
-Make sure the room where the stove is located is always frost-free, in order to protect
water circuit.
There will be at least 1 cm from the stove to the wall against which it is leaning back. It is
very important to respect security distances for inflammable materials.
Dimensions of the recess
The recess, i.e. the volume around the fireplace, has to contain the appliance while
providing an additional space of at least 5 mm (on the left and right sides, and above the
fireplace) in order to accommodate expansion. There must be no masonry against the
fireplace.
Ventilation around the fireplace
It is advised to ventilate the recess with an air inlet in the base and air outlet at the top in
order to reduce the temperature of the walls and to recover it in your home.
Insulation of the fireplace
The materials used must be non-inflammable. Provide high-temperature insulation around
the fireplace to protect certain materials. In this case we advise protecting the back, sides
and top of the appliance. If no insulation has been provided, it is recommended keeping a
distance of 35 cm from inflammable materials and 15 cm from non-inflammable materials
and to ventilate the recess.
Your installer can advise you regarding the protection to be provided. Still with regard to
protection, your installer can also provide a floor plate in front of the insert in order to
guard against the ejection of embers.

Fireplace base
We recommend placing the appliance on a solid flat surface with sufficient strength to
support the weight of the fireplace and the chimney flue. If existing building does not fulfil
this condition, appropriated measures must be taken (weight dispatching plate …).
We also advise you to secure the device with a wall in order to increase stability of the
stove. Four adjustable feet are supplied for an easy levelling and to avoid direct contact
with a humid floor which could oxidise the bottom of the fireplace.
Radiation from the fireplace
The fireplace emits heat by radiation through the window and by air convection (in 100 %
air mode). It is thus essential to provide non-inflammable materials in the distribution zone.
Chimney flue
To ensure a sealed connection, appropriate to the desired installation and the good
operation of your fireplace, please consult your installer who will give you with the
necessary information.
Chimney flue is a key element for a good working of the stove. The smoke outlet has a 150
mm (AAF67) or 180 mm (AAF77) diameter. Each stove must have its own chimney flue,
without other elements introduced (boiler, chimney, stove …). Dimensions of the chimney
flue are linked with its height, which must be measured from the input of the stove to the
base of the chimney.
Pipe of combustion products caused by the device with a natural draft must fulfil the
following conditions:
Be sealed to combustion products, waterproof and properly isolated and heat-
insulated.
Be realised in a material able to resist normal mechanical strains, heat, action of
combustion products and eventual condensation.
Have a climbing movement with a minimum slope of 45°, after vertical segment and
on the whole path remaining. A horizontal section or an opposite slope is forbidden.
Length of non-vertical section cannot be more than a quarter of the total height, and
cannot overcome 2 m.
Have an intern section ideally circular: square or rectangular sections must have
rounded corners.
Have a constant, free and independent intern section.
Have rectangular section with a report of maximum 1,5 between sides.
If the pipe is inside, it must be insulated to avoid smoke cool down and condensation.
It is forbidden to use fibre-cement pipes to connect the device to the chimney flue.
It must be possible to soot the chimney flue.
It is forbidden to transit in smoke pipes other supplied air pipes and other piping, even
if they are oversized.

Chimney cap is a crowning pipe device which makes the dispersing of combustion
products easier. It has to fulfil these conditions:
-Have a utile end section of at least the double than the one on which the pipe rests.
-Have a shape which prevent rain and snow to penetrate the pipe.
-Be built as so, even when there is wind, whatever the direction and inclination are, the
combustion discharge is ensured.
Fitting
Fitting and setting of the baffle
A steal baffle (smoke deflector) is supplied laid flat in the fireplace. It must be placed on its
supports with flat portion to beneath and the bigger part to the glass.
A screw kit allows to change its position, if necessary, if there is too much draft. The more
the draft is huge, the more it is necessary to lift the baffle to reduce burned gas flow.
Attention: make sure not to create backflow by reducing too much burned gas flow.

Primary air connection
The fireplace is equipped with an external air inlet Ø 100 mm.
Connection of the small tube can be done from behind or from the floor if lay of the land
allows it (cellar or ventilated empty space). The inlet not used will be obstructed by the
supplied plug.

Hydraulic connection
Hydraulic connections must be done by using connections on the exchanger (in and out
Ø 1’’). Pipe section to connect AAF to central heating can be done in Ø 3/4" or Ø 20.
To make the connection easier, we have predisposed every hydraulic connection in below
chamber accessible from the front, letting enough space to act easily. The exchanger is
simply laid on its support and can be removed to make the pipe connection easier.
Connection to exchanger will be thread (Teflon or hemp).
An outlet by the back and the bottom of the device is possible.
The stove can be connected with any other boiler already installed; it is essential to engage
the necessary securities and the interceptions which suit to the installation, according to
system and intended use.
Maximal water pressure of the network must never overcome 3 bars. Service pressure
advised: 1,2 bar.
During fitting of hydraulic connections, make sure:
-To place a wrench on the exchanger in order not to damage it;
-Not to drill in the heat exchanger;
-We advise to use stainless steel flexible.
The Aqua Air Flow does not need a minimum water return temperature as generally for
hydro stoves. It is thus not necessary to place a thermovar and a feedback circuit. The
architecture of the system allows to avoid any condensation on the heating body and an
excessive cool down of the combustion chamber. It is possible to work in low temperature
unencumbered. It is also at this time that the AAF will product its best water performance.

Electric connection
Connect product on an electrical outlet (220 V –50 Hz) with a grounded system. Avoid
electrical outlets controlled by switch or automatic timer.
Electric connection, included grounded, must be done when tension on electric system is
cut. Connection on basis on the scheme bellow includes two airstat, one ventilator, water
pump (not supplied) and a controller (ventilator speed regulation).
Air flow variator will be mainly used to reduce speed of ventilators in mode 100 % air, in
order to reduce noise caused by this one. In mode "hot water production", it is
recommended to use maximal speed, in order to optimize water performance. Noise is
reduced by the closing of upper and lower holes.
During fitting, setting of variator maximum speed must be realised in removing the switch
front of the regulator (see picture), in order to reach laminated setting screw. A sufficient
minimum ventilator speed must be kept in order not to damage this one.
