INSTALLATION GUIDE
for the
SB-GM-TRLBLZR/10W3v3
2002-Up ChevroletTrailblazer
2002-Up GMC Envoy
2003-Up Buick Rainier
Thank you for choosing a JL Audio Stealthbox®for your automotive sound system. With proper
installation, your new vehicle-specific enclosed subwoofer system will deliver years of listening pleasure.
We strongly recommend that you have your new Stealthbox®installed by your authorized JL Audio
dealer. The installation professionals employed by your dealer have the necessary tools and experience
to disassemble and reassemble your vehicle properly. Also, keep in mind that your warranty coverage
extends to 2 years if your system is installed or approved by your authorized JL Audio dealer. If you
prefer to perform your own installation, please read this installation guide completely
before beginning the process.
If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely vital that
the Stealthbox®be properly mounted to the vehicle according to these
instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure properly presents two problems:
1) The sub-bass performance will suffer due to the movement of the enclosure
caused by the force exerted by the woofer(s).
2) A loose enclosure presents a serious safety hazard in the event of a collision
or sudden deceleration.
STEP 1
Remove all contents from the cargo area.

STEP 2
With a 7mm socket, remove the two bolts that are located
at the rear of the passenger's side rear wheel well.
STEP 3
With a flat bald screw driver, remove the two push/pull
tabs that are located behind the passenger's side rear tire.

STEP 9
Apply tape to the switch panel to mark your cut line and new
hose nozzle's mounting hole.
Drill a new mounting hole for the hose nozzle as close to the
switch opening as possible.
Cut the bottom of the switch panel just below the new
mounting hole.
SUVs with the air compressor only.
STEP 11
The cut out of the side panel only needs to be as wide as the
switch hold clips that are on the back side of the switch panel.
The cut out of the side panel only needs to be as tall, as from
the bottom of the switch and to the top of the switch panel.
Do not cut the side panel as tall as the tongue that
is on the top and the back side of the switch panel.
Mark the hose nozzle's mounting hole onto the side panel.
SUVs with the air compressor only.
STEP 10
The air compressor switch panel needs to be mounted at
the lower right corner, outside the pocket onto the side
panel.

STEP 6
This compressor is not to be removed out of the wheel
well. Carefully wedge the compressor into the wheel well,
so it stays. Some large zip ties can be used to temporary
mount the compressor out of the way.
Make sure that you do not kink any of the nylon air hose.
SUVs with the air compressor only.
STEP 5
Look up into the passenger's side rear wheel well. You will
see this metal plate as in the picture.
The air compressor in mounted onto this plate. The plate is
mounted to the chassis with two bolts.
Remove these two bolts.
STEP 4
With a 10mm box/open end wrench, remove the bolt that
is located in front off the passenger's side rear tire.
With all the mounting hardware removed, remove the
plastic wheel well liner.
If your SUV does not have the factory air compressor,

STEP 19
Mount the air compressor back into position.
STEP 18
From under the vehicle, place the supplied fender washers,
flat washers, lock washers and then hex nuts onto each
protruding socket cup set screw and secure. Adjust the
amount of exposed thread on each cup set screw if
necessary keeping in mind that leaving too much exposed
tread will prevent the re-installation of the air compressor
and or the plastic wheel well liner.
Note: For added protection, it is recommended that
you apply a bead of silicone between the vehicle and
the fender washer. After the bolt assembly is tightly
secured, it is also recommended that vehicle under-
coating material is applied to the exposed assembly.

STEP 15
Note: Before drilling, make sure that you are not going
to be drilling into any gas lines, brake lines, transmission
lines, electrical wiring, transfer case (4x4 vehicles)
or anything else that might cause a reduction in your
weekly pay. Always wear eye protection when drilling!
With a drill and a 1/2-inch drill bit, drill through the
impression made in the wax square and into the vehicle’s
wheel well.
Remove the wax squares.
STEP 14
Thread the supplied pair of socket cup set screws into
the bottom of the Stealthbox®, leaving 1/2-inch of thread
exposed. Position the Stealthbox®in the mounting location
and press down on it firmly.
Remove the Stealthbox®carefully, leaving the wax squares
in place. The socket cup set screws will leave impressions in
the wax.
STEP 13
Place one of the supplied wax squares, so the side of the
wax square is flush against the plastic side panel and the
middle of the wax square measures 7-inches from the front
protrusion of the side plastic panel.
Not pictured. Place the second supplied wax square, so
the side of the wax square is flush against the plastic side
panel and the middle of the wax square measures 7-inches
from the rear of the wheel well to the back of the SUV.
STEP 12
Use a hand held rotary tool (Dremel®) with cutting bit, to
cut out the side panel for the compressor switch panel.
Remember the hole for the hose nozzle.
STEP 16
Run speaker wire from the amplifier location to the
Stealthbox®location and check for proper operation of
