Wood is a natural materialwhich can deteriorate in appearance when left outside. A surface coating is recommended
to protect the wood from exposure to moisture and UV rays which can cause splitting and darkening, when exposed
to the weather. The finish should be regularly maintained to ensure that the wood is protected from moisture and the
furniture continues to look its best. The wood has been treated with oil during manufacturing, so does not normally
require an additionalcoating prior to use.
IF the furniture is intendedto be left outside for a prolonged period of severe weatherconditions, anothercoat ofoil
is required.
When a top up coat is required, please follow the instructions in the maintenance section for the best results.
1. Oil is best appliedwith a clean cloth. Simply wipe the oil onto the wood surface straight from the container.
2.
Treat all surfaces of the furniture. Please ensure that any hidden surfaces (sush as those exposedwhen the furniture
in turned upside down) are also treated.
Particular care shouldbe given to the end grain and any joints or crevices.
3. Let the surface dry out. This can take 4 to 12 hours but depends on the surrounding conditions.
4.
Repeat step 2 & 3 with at least 2more coats of oil. Extra coats will give semi gloss sheen once the oil has dried out.
Any excess oil can by wiped off with a clean cloth. Please follow the application guide provided by
varnish / oil manufacturers.
Fine surface cracks can appearin hardwood over time. If the wood is regularly coated and the product is stored
according to the guidance in this instruction manual, this should not affect the structural integrity of the product.
