GLAS Smart Thermostat
Technical Bulletin
Introduction
GLAS is a multi-functional thermostat designed to configure temperature controls, monitor air quality, and aid
energy savings in commercial and residential applications. GLAS features a translucent, color touchscreen display
with an intuitive user experience that makes installation and setup simple.
Refer to the GLAS Thermostat Installation Instructions (LIT-12012975) for important product application
information.

Phone and Tablet Support
GLAS offers remote control and support through a smart phone or tablet. By generating a username and password,
you have access to control setpoint preferences, edit schedules, view air quality, and energy savings. By setting up
a GLAS account before beginning the installation and setup process, you are provided with a guided setup and
wire compatibility checker.
Create your GLAS account by downloading the GLAS app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and
following the prompts in the app to sign up.
Installation and Set Up
The smart device simplifies installation and setup. Following the intuitive mobile walk-through and the on-device
configuration lets you complete the installation, from wiring to configuration, in less than 30 minutes.

Wire Detection
Once you have wired the thermostat, the device will auto-detect your HVAC configuration. If the displayed
configuration does not match the wiring, you can easily adjust it by tapping the terminal on screen and forcing the
terminal to register.
Note: If the C or RC connection is not detected, you will need to contact technical support.
Note: GLAS requires a C-wire to be connected or the included C-wire adapter to be installed in the HVAC
system.
Note: The C-wire adapter requires R, Y, and G thermostat wires to use the adapter to power the device.
Equipment Selection
For GLAS to properly control your system, select your heating configuration (single or dual stage), cooling
configuration (single or dual stage), heat pump, and auxiliary devices (if applicable). The device will use the
detected wires to provide you with the correct configuration options.

Choose your Mode
If your HVAC system supports heating and cooling, GLAS will prompt you during configuration to selectAuto, Cool,
Heat, or Off mode for your thermostat to start in after setup is complete. When in Auto mode, GLAS will
automatically switch into heating or cooling mode as necessary to keep the temperature between the heating and
cooling setpoints. You can change the mode and setpoints at any time once configuration is complete.
Test your Equipment
To ensure that the device is connected correctly, test your fan, heating, cooling, and auxiliary equipment.
Note: Testing your equipment is an optional step but is highly recommended to guarantee that the thermostat is
correctly installed.
Name Thermostat
Select a name for your thermostat to help organize your system and make the device easy to find.
Connect to Wi-Fi
Connect to a Wi-Fi network to enable remote management of GLAS from your smart phone or tablet to operate the
thermostat. By connecting to Wi-Fi, you can view energy savings, outdoor air quality, and local weather forecasts
on your GLAS device.
Update Software
If there is an available update, select Download & Continue. The download runs in the background while you
complete configuration. Software updates are an important way to ensure up-to-date security and functionality for
your device.
Enter Postal Code
Enter your postal code for local weather forecasts, accurate energy savings reporting and improved control
performance. In addition, GLAS will optimize the use of your system’s heat pumps, multi-stage systems, and
auxiliary devices with a valid postal code.
Note: Device must be connected to Wi-Fi and have a valid postal code entered for forecast, energy savings, and
smart control features to work.
Set Date & Time
Select your date and time to assist with scheduling and events.
Note: GLAS will only prompt you for the date and time if the device is offline or unable to reach network time
servers.
Set Temperature Preferences
Select Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C).
Select Building Type
Choose the type of building you have installed the thermostat in to help GLAS get to know your needs.
Set up Scheduling
Set up scheduling to get the most out of GLAS. Choose wake and sleep times as well as temperature preferences
to assist with comfort and energy savings. When selecting comfortable temperature ranges, the lower temperature
acts as the heating setpoint and the higher temperature acts as the cooling setpoint.

Optional Integrations
Once installation and setup is complete, you have the option to connect to a voice assistant to control your GLAS
thermostat.
Cortana®by Microsoft
The onboard Microsoft Cortana® digital assistant with full functionality uses the GLAS device’s speaker and
microphone, in addition to the Cortana mobile app, to control the thermostat. To access this feature, download the
Microsoft Cortana app, log in with your Microsoft account, and pair it to your GLAS device.
Amazon Echo®and Google Home®
To connect to Amazon Echo or Google Home, use theAmazonAlexa or GoogleAssistant mobile app to add GLAS
as a device. Once the thermostat has been added, you can use your Amazon Echo or Google Home devices to get
and adjust modes and temperatures.

Overview
Home Screen
The home screen is the default view that shows you the current temperature and allows you to make adjustments.

Quick View
The quick view gives you easy access to some of the most frequently used features, like scheduling, air quality,
and energy savings.

Control View
Control view allows you to change your thermostat mode, change fan commands, and place your system in home
or away states.
Note: Only the settings that work with your current HVAC system are available for selection on the control
screen.

Settings and Descriptions
GLAS is customizable to your needs through the setting options. You can adjust comfort preferences, schedule
vacations, and pair the thermostat with your devices. Access all of the settings by selecting the gear icon in the
corner of the of the Quick View or Control View screens
