1 About these installation and operating instructions
These installation and operating instructions should simplify getting to know your JUDO UNIDOS digital
dosing pump system and inform you of its intended applications. The installation and operating instructions
contain important information so that you can use the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system safely,
professionally and economically. They contain basic information that must be observed during installation,
operation and maintenance. Observing this information will help to avoid dangers, reduce repair costs and
increase the reliability and service life of your JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system.
Alongside the installation operating instructions and the legal regulations applicable in the country and place
of use in respect of accident prevention, the recognised technical regulations for safe and professional work
must be observed.
All pictorial, dimensional and implementation information correspond to the date of going to press. We
reserve the right to make changes due to technical progress and continuing development. Model and
product claims cannot be lodged.
The installation and operating instructions must always be available at the place of use
of the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system and must be kept in a good, legible
state!
All persons involved in the installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, service
and repair of the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system, must be appropriately
qualified and trained and must have carefully read and understood these installation and
operating instructions and also any separate installation and operating instructions for

1.2 General safety instructions
Warning
Any working methods that might endanger safety must be avoided!
Non-observation of these installation and operating instructions and the safety
instructions herein may endanger persons, as well as the environment and the JUDO
UNIDOS digital dosing pump system itself!
Warning
When used in the hot water section there is a danger due to hot surfaces or danger due
to scalding!
The safety instructions do not take into account
Random happenings and events that may occur during installation, operating and maintenance.
Location related safety conditions for the observance of which the operator is responsible, even for
contract installation personnel.
Attention
Unauthorised conversions and changes to the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump
system or tampering with system components are forbidden for safety reasons!
Do not perform any changes, make any additions or carry out any conversions that
could impair safety without the manufacturer’s written approval!
Never remove safety equipment or deactivate it by making changes to the JUDO UNIDOS
digital dosing pump system!
The safety instructions of these installation and operating instructions must be
observed without fail, additional industry-wide and in-house safety instructions remain
in force!
Only operate the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system with the caps and covers of
all system components correctly closed!
Fault-free operation of the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system is only ensured if
original spare parts and components are used in the combination described in these
installation and operating instructions, otherwise there is a risk of malfunctioning or
damage!
Only allow authorised technical personnel to carry out repairs!
All work on electrical system components must only be performed by qualified
electricians certified according to an approved national scheme!
The electrical system components must be checked regularly!
Loose connections must be tightened immediately and damaged system components
immediately replaced!
Ensure that any dosing medium that escapes from the dosing pump or damaged pipes
does not cause any damage; the use of bunding is recommended!

1.2.1 Safety instructions for electrical work
Warning
Switch off the power supply before working on system components; if this is ignored
severe bodily injuries or even death may result!
All work which may possibly need to be performed while the system is live must only be
performed by qualified electricians certified according to an approved national scheme!
Switch off the power supply before working on system components!
Once the mains voltage is connected, the dosing pump can start up automatically!
Attention
Ensure that electronic or electrical system components are not damaged by splash
water, dosing medium or similar!
1.2.2 Safety instructions for mechanicalworking
Warning
Before cleaning, maintenance or repair work ensure that the JUDO UNIDOS digital
dosing pump system is fully hydraulically depressurised!
These activities must only be performed by JUDO customer service or authorised
technical personnel, who know and understand the overall system of the JUDO UNIDOS
digital dosing pump system and its environment!
1.2.3 Safety instructions for the handling of chemicals
Warning
The safety data sheets of the manufacturer of the dosing agents, the respective usage
guidelines and application instructions as well as any standard safety measures must be
observed when handling chemicals!
When dosing chlorine, it must only be used in the form of sodium hypochlorite solution
(NaClO, chlorine bleaching lye)!
To prevent the formation of chlorine gas, sodium hypochlorite must not come into
contact with acids or acidically reacting chemicals!
Sodium hypochlorite must only be stored or placed in the same room as acids or
acidically reacting chemicals, if either the sodium hypochlorite or the acids or acidically
reacting chemicals are stored in break-proof vessels!
Wear protective equipment when handling sodium hypochlorite!
Harmful for health! Corrosive action on skin, eyes and mucous membranes!
Always keep chemical containers (full or empty) closed and only refill with the
chemicals, with which they were originally filled!

2 Warranty
The warranty is valid in accordance with our general terms of sale and delivery only if
The JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system is used solely for its intended use and its system
components are not opened, tampered with or incorrectly treated in any other way,
Safety guards are used and these are not manipulated or removed,
The operating conditions correspond to the technical specifications,
Inspection and maintenance are performed according to EN 806-5:2012 and EN 15848,
Repairs are only performed with original spare parts by JUDO customer service or authorised
technical personnel.
All work must only be performed by qualified and authorised technical personnel.
2.1 Duties of the operator
The operator of the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system is responsible for the following:
Only allow qualified and authorised technical personnel to perform inspection, operation,
maintenance, service and repair as well as the training of the operating personnel.
The dosing pump system and dosing medium must only be used for the purposes described in the
usage guidelines (observe Chap. 3.4)!
Check the dosing concentration at regular intervals using suitable measuring instruments.
Performance of inspection and instigation of scheduled servicing at the prescribed intervals (adhere
to EN 806-5:2012 and EN 15848).
Constant availability of the installation and operating instructions at the place of use of the JUDO
UNIDOS digital dosing pump system.
Perform regular visual inspection of the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system according to the
conditions of use and the hazard potential to prevent leaks and damage and also check for correct
functioning of the system.
2.2 Transport, storage, disposal
Attention
Transport the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system with care in an upright
position, do not knock over, do not transport when there is a risk of frost, also protect
against dust and dirt effects!
Attention
Dry, frost-proof storage location with aggressive atmosphere!
Protect the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system against the effects of coarse dust
or dirt, also avoid UV radiation and direct sunshine!
Permissible storage temperature(without dosing medium): +4°C to +40°C (-20°C to
+40°C)!

3.4 Application
The JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system is used for the treatment of drinking and process water, for
the preparation of boiler feedwater and system water for cooling and air conditioning systems, in cases which
require the dosing of JUDO conditioning agents, and also for swimming pool applications. The properties of
the water can be influenced by the feeding of certain JUDO dosing media. For example, it is possible to
stabilise hardness components, bind carbonic acid, create protective layers, kill bacteria, prevent algae
formation and bind oxygen in boiler water.
Attention
The operator is responsible for ensuring that the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump
system and dosing medium are only used for the purposes described in the usage
guidelines!
Under no circumstances may dosing media be used in systems whose requirements in
respect of the water properties differ from the usage guidelines above!
JUDO Wasseraufbereitung GmbH will not be responsible for the resulting damage.
All risks are borne solely by the operator!
3.4.1 Intended use
The JUDO JUDOMAT digital dosing pump system is used for the dosing of liquid, non-abrasive, non-
flammable and combustible dosing media in rooms not at risk of explosion with non-condensing and non-
aggressive atmospheres within the framework of the usage options cited in these installation and operating
instructions.
Intended use also includes the reading of these installation and operating instructions, adherence to all the
safety conditions and instructions contained within them and the performance of inspection and maintenance
work at the prescribed time intervals.
Attention
Other uses are not compliant with the intended use and not permitted!
JUDO Wasseraufbereitung GmbH will not be responsible for the resulting damage.
All risks are borne solely by the operator!
When dosing chlorine, it must only be used in the form of sodium hypochlorite solution
(NaClO, chlorine bleaching lye) (observe Chap. 1.2.3)!

3.5 Function description
The JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system is supplied with constant voltage and can be operated in
manual or contact mode. The control signal transfer cable JAK-S is necessary for both operating modes (see
Chap. 3.2.3).
Manual operating mode: The operation of the dosing pump can be switched to standby from an external
potential-free contact via the Ext. stop signal input, e.g. in a time controlled manner by the JUDO dosing
pump control Digital JDPS-D (see Chap. 3.2.3), with parallel switching of feed pumps or feed mechanisms or
from a building control system.
Contact operating mode: The dosing pump can be operated via the contact signal input using the JUDO
control signal transfer cable JAK-S, for example via a JUDO contact water meter.
Attention
During simultaneous actuation by a contact water meter and switching of the Ext. stop
signal input, the dosing pump is locked!
Incoming pules from the contact water meter are ignored during this period and are not
subsequently processed!
The suction kit with low-level and empty status signalling is used for fill level monitoring of the dosing tank
and protects the dosing pump against dry running. The conditions fault or empty status signal can be
switched via relay 1, the low-level status signal can be switched via relay 2 using the JUDO fault-/empty
status signal transfer cable JAK-L (see Chap. 3.2.3), e.g. to a building control system.

4 Installation
Attention
If due to a leak at the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system severe damage could
result, a suitable JUDO bund (see Chap. 3.2.3) should be used as a safety installation!
4.1 Requirements for the place of installation
The JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system must be installed in a dry, frost-proof location with a
condensation-free and non-aggressive atmosphere.
A site ½“ i.d. connecting sleeve must be provided for the cold or hot water injection point.
An electrical connection (constant voltage, site provided socket) must be provided in the immediate
vicinity of the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system.
If the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system is equipped with an electrical stirrer, a further
electrical connection (constant voltage, site provided socket for the JUDO timer clock JZS U/E) must
be provided in the immediate vicinity.
A clearance of 50 cm for maintenance and repair work must be available above the JUDO UNIDOS
digital dosing pump system.
4.2 Installation notes
If there is an clear outlet for the dosing medium or if the system-induced back pressure
< 1 bar, a JUDO pressure holding valve JDHV-DOS (see Chap. 3.2.3) should be fitted
immediately before the outlet point or injection unit (not necessary under normal
circumstances when using original JUDO cold or hot water injection points, in case of
doubt, obtain technical advice)!
To protect against overpressure, a JUDO overflow valve JÜV-DOS (see Chap. 3.2.3)
should be fitted in the dosing line, the return line must be fed back to the dosing tank
with a clear outlet!
If necessary a JUDO multifunction valve JMFV-DOS (see Chap. 3.2.3), which combines
the functions of a pressure holding valve and an overflow valve, should be fitted directly
at the high pressure-side connection of the dosing pump; the return line must be fed
back to the dosing tank with an clear outlet!
Preliminary remark about chlorine dosing:
For reliable sterilisation a reaction time of approximately 30 minutes between the chlorine and the
water to be sterilised is necessary. To ensure that the water remains in the water pipe sufficiently long before
drawing, the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system is optimally to be installed upstream of an
adequately sized compressed air chamber.

No more than 0.3 mg/l of free chlorine may be detectable in treated well water, however it
should be noted this concentration is not sufficient to remove biofilms and bacterial
breeding grounds located in the pipe!
Therefore, prior to commissioning the dosing pump system, a disinfection of the entire
piping system should be performed in accordance with DVGW (German Technical and
Scientific Association for Gas and Water) working sheet W 291!
Upon request, we will be happy to supply the components necessary for constant
disinfection!
Install the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system vertically on a level surface.
The cold or hot water injection point of the JUDO UNIDOS digital dosing pump system should be
installed in a horizontal pipe, but not in a suction pipe.
A site-provided shut-off valve should be installed upstream of the connecting sleeve.
Ideally a site supplied pressure gauge should be installed directly upstream of the cold or hot water
injection point for determination of the system-induced back pressure.
Route the suction, dosing and bleed pipes so that they are free from mechanical stresses, kinks or
loops and then connect so they are leak-tight.
For simple operation and maintenance ensure the specified space requirement is available.
The system-specific operating data must be complied with.
Prior to filling, check the dosing tank for dirt; clean if necessary.
If a contact water meter is used, it must be installed correctly (horizontal, contact mechanism
pointing upwards) and free from any mechanical stresses in the direction of flow (cast-on arrow).
Do not install the contact water meter in a circulation system.
A smooth, obstruction free straight pipe section of the same nominal diameter as the contact water
meter must be positioned upstream of the contact water meter; its length must be equal to at least 3
times the nominal diameter.
There must be no abrupt constrictions directly downstream of the contact water meter.
Observe the separate installation and operating instructions of other devices and systems.
Comply with DIN EN 806, DIN 1988-200 and DIN 19635.
Observe technical information, local installation regulations and general guidelines (e.g. EVU, VDE,
WVU, DIN, DVGW, ÖVGW, SVGW).
Problem solutions and other installation options can be clarified by a JUDO technical consultation.

4.3 Installation and connection of the dosing pump
To avoid damage to the dosing pump and mounting plate during transport, the dosing
pump is not attached to the dosing tank as delivered!
Before connection of the dosing pump, it must be attached to the dosing tank mounting
plate!

Place the dosing pump on the mounting plate and push to just before the mounting plate retainers.
Press the latching lug of the mounting plate downwards [1] and simultaneously push the dosing
pump down with a light pressure into the retainers [2].
Release the latching lug. The dosing pump is secured on the mounting plate.
Check whether the dosing pump is firmly connected to the mounting plate.
Attention
Use only JUDO dosing hose JDS-T 6/4 for the bleed, suction and dosing pipes!
Ensure that the O-rings on the suction and pressure valves and also on the suction kit
are present and properly inserted. Also ensure that the suction and pressure valves are
fitted with the arrow in the direction of flow!
Always tighten union nuts by hand; do not use any tools!
The bleed and suction pipes are pre-fitted in the factory on the dosing head and the
suction kit!
Keep the pipes as short as possible, always shorten by cutting at a right-angle and route
so they are free from kinks and chafing points.
