3 Function
System information
This device is a product of the KNX system and complies with the KNX directives. Detailed
technical knowledge obtained in KNX training courses is a prerequisite to proper understanding.
The function of this device depends upon the software. Detailed information on loadable soft
ware and attainable functionality as well as the software itself can be obtained from the
manufacturer´s product database. Planning, installation and commissioning of the device are
carried out with the aid of KNXcertified software. The latest versions of product database and
the technical descriptions are available on our website.
Intended use
 Coupling of a PC to the KNX bus for addressing, programming and diagnosing KNX
devices.
 UP device: Mounting in appliance box according to DIN 49073
 REG device: Installation in small distributors on DIN rail according to IEC 60715
iPower is supplied to the devices via the USB connection of the PC.

4 Information for electrically skilled persons
4.1 Mounting and electrical connection
Mounting and connecting the REG device
oMount device on DIN rail with the device connection terminals facing downwards.
iUse only cables which are approved for KNX.
oConnect bus line with device connection terminal (1).
Optionally connect USB line permanently
oUnlock the slide (3) by pulling the end of the bow forwards. Pull out slide.
oInsert the USB cable into the socket (2).
oReinsert slide (3) until it engages noticeably.

iThe slide fixes the USB cable in place and ensures that the maximum installation height in
the distributor is maintained.
Mounting and connecting UP device
This device may only be installed in special electrical appliance boxes, flushmounted.

iWall boxes must be ordered separately.
oWall boxes for solid walls have to be placed flush to the wall plaster.
oHollow wall boxes were placed by circular cutter. A hole of dia. 2.67 in (68 mm) must be
made.
The wall box will be plugged into and screwed by integrated clamps.
iUse only cables which are approved for KNX.
oConnect bus line with device connection terminal (1).
oMount the device in the appliance box (4).
oPerform commissioning.
iUse the cover for TAE telephone sockets as the design cover (6).
oMount frame (5) and design cover (6).
oInsert the USB cable into the socket (2).
4.2 Commissioning
Load the address and the application software
The devices are exclusively programmed locally with the physical address via a connected PC
and therefore do not have a programming key or programming LED.
oConnect PC with the device.
oAssign physical address.
oWrite the physical address on the device label.
iThe firmware of the USB data interfaces can be updated via a PC.
