5 Functional description
"Heating and cooling" operating mode
Modern heat pump systems often also provide the option of cooling rooms. This func-
tion is supported by the JUNG HOME room thermostat in "heating and cooling" oper-
ating mode. In this operating mode, the temperature is permanently regulated to the
set cooling temperature during active cooling operation. There are no time programs
in cooling mode. The cooling temperature can be changed only with the temperature
parameters on the device (or with the setting in the app), not with the +/- buttons.
In combination with a room thermostat insert, cooling mode is activated by applying
the mains voltage to input terminal "C". With switch inserts, cooling mode is activated
by applying mains power to extension input "1". In general, the heat pump features a
corresponding output or a switch can be used.
Frost protection / temperature drop detection Ʒ
The frost protection temperature is the minimum temperature to which the system
can be regulated in order to avoid frost damage. In the event of a significant temper-
ature drop, e.g. after opening a window, the temperature is set to the frost protection
temperature for a maximum of 30 minutes to prevent unnecessary heating and wast-
ing energy. For this, the temperature drop detection parameter Ʒ must be activated.
Optimised heating up ƹ
Heating is started at most 4 hours before the switching time, so that the desired tem-
perature has been reached at the switching time rather than starting to heat up at
that time. The display icon ƹ flashes during the heat-up phase.
Note: Optimised heating up is designed for panel heating/radiators.
Temperature sensor offset Ƴ
If the system detects that the displayed actual temperature differs from the general
room temperature, this parameter can be used to enter a correction value in 0.5°C in-
crements. The measured actual temperature is then corrected by this offset value.

Controller adaptation Ƽ
The control principle should be set depending on the heating system.
Two-point control: The output remains switched on until the selected setpoint temper-
ature has been exceeded by 0.5 °C. The output will not be switched on again until
the setpoint value is undercut by 0.5 °C. Since most heating systems respond very
slowly, this type of control can entail temperature overshooting.
Pulse width modulation control (Ƽ): Optimised for electrothermal valve drives,
e.g. TVA 230 NC WW: The output is not permanently actuated, but only for a time
period (pulse width) dependent on the difference between the target temperature and
the actual temperature. This method brings the actual temperature gradually closer to
the setpoint temperature. The cycle time is 15 minutes.
Valve adaptation Ƹ
This parameter is used to adapt to the electrothermal valve drives. There are drives
that are either open (deenergised open, setting NO) or closed (deenergised closed,
setting NC) when no supply voltage is applied.
Temperature sensor ƻ ƺ
The JUNG HOME room thermostat display features a built-in temperature sensor,
which is used to detect the room temperature.
In combination with a room thermostat insert, a wired remote sensor can be connec-
ted, either to measure the room temperature or to limit the maximum floor temperat-
ure.
The following settings are possible.
Internal sensor ƻ: The room temperature is measured with the internal temperature
sensor or a JUNG HOME temperature sensor (if linked).
Wired remote sensor ƺ: The room temperature is measured by the remote sensor
that can be connected only to the room thermostat insert. The internal temperature
sensor is deactivated.
Internal sensor and wired remote sensor ƻ and ƺ: The room temperature is meas-
ured with the internal temperature sensor or a JUNG HOME temperature sensor (if
linked). The floor temperature is measured by the remote sensor that can be connec-
ted only to the room thermostat insert to enable monitoring of the maximum floor tem-
perature. If the maximum floor temperature is exceeded, the floor heating is switched
off until the floor temperature has fallen below the maximum value again. This way,
an unpleasantly hot floor is avoided.
Valve protection function
The function prevents the valve from becoming stuck in long periods without heating.
For this purpose, the valve is opened and closed once a week at 11:00 am on Sat-
urdays.
The device interrupts the heating process for five minutes after 60 minutes to
prevent critical continuous operation.

Commissioning via app
Prerequisite: the JUNG HOME device has not yet been made a participant in a
Bluetooth Mesh network; otherwise reset the device to factory defaults.
Before commissioning with the JUNG HOME app, please run through the steps from
"Commissioning without the app" on the device to complete the input prompt. The
settings can then be corrected at any time with the app. Furthermore, the time and
date are automatically corrected with the app.
If a Bluetooth Mesh network (project) does not yet exist, start by creating a new pro-
ject for the first JUNG HOME device in the JUNG HOME app.
If a Bluetooth Mesh network already exists, the project file for this network must be
opened in order to pair the new device.
After switching on the mains voltage, the device is automatically in pairing
mode for two minutes.
■ Activate pairing mode manually:
Press the ƣ button for more than 4 seconds until the icon Ʃ flashes on the
display.
Pairing mode is active for two minutes.
■ Start the JUNG HOME app and add the device to a new or an existing project.
If several JUNG HOME devices are simultaneously in pairing mode, several
devices can be found in the app. By selecting a room thermostat in the app, its
display lighting begins to flash to allow the desired device to be identified be-
fore it is added to the project.
The symbol Ʃ on the display lights up permanently to confirm the successful
pairing.
If the symbol Ʃ flashes fast on the display, this means pairing has failed and
must be repeated.
The JUNG HOME app can then be used to link devices wirelessly and config-
ure the parameters and operation (see list of functions and parameters).
Once the commissioning of the JUNG HOME project has been completed,
hand over the project file to the owner.
Besides basic commissioning, the JUNG HOME app enables device updates and
convenient operation of further individual configuration options:
– Link: A button, binary input or motion sensor can be controlled by linking it to a
load (e.g. dimmer, socket, relay, shutter etc.). Several loads can be controlled
together by linking them to an area or scene.

9 / 24
32405613 24.02.2023
J0082405613

– Area: Different loads (e.g. dimmer, socket, relay, shutter etc.) can be grouped
in an area to allow them to be controlled together.
– Scene: Different loads (e.g. dimmer, socket, relay, shutter etc.) can be
grouped in a scene so that, by calling up a scene, each load assumes the load
status stored in the scene.
– Automatic function: An automatic function can be used to control the locally
connected load (no wireless link) by means of time programs. Depending on
the device type, there are further automatic functions in JUNG HOME, such as
hotel function, night light function, holiday program or switching thresholds.
7 Wireless operation
Wireless operation is done with linked JUNG HOME devices or via the JUNG HOME
App, which is also used to link the JUNG HOME devices (see 'Commissioning via
App').
8 Operation on the device
Increasing or reducing the room temperature
■ Press the – or + button for less than 1 second.
With every brief press of a button the setpoint temperature changes by 0.5 °C.
The set value is retained in manual mode; in automatic mode it is retained until
the next switching time is reached.
In cooling mode, the – or + buttons cannot be used to change the setpoint
temperature. The cooling temperature can be changed only with the temperat-
ure parameters on the device (or with the setting in the app).
If the display is switched off or has been set to indicate the actual temperature or
time, the – or + button will have to be pressed a second time or even more before a
change in the setpoint value takes place.
■ Press the – or + button for more than 1 second.
In heating mode, the stored setpoint temperature is retrieved:
– = ECO temperature
+ = Comfort temperature
During a detected temperature drop, it is not possible to change the setpoint
temperature for max. 30 minutes.
Automatic operation/manual operation
Pressing the Ƙ button toggles between automatic mode and manual mode.
In automatic mode, the time programs specify the next setpoint temperature in each
case. Furthermore, in automatic mode the - or + button on the device or the app can
be used to specify a new setpoint temperature, but this temperature can be set only

9 Mounting and electrical connection
Communication between the JUNG HOME devices and linked mobile end devices is
performed wirelessly within the range of the Bluetooth Mesh network.
The range of wireless signals can be affected by:
– Number, thickness, position of ceilings, walls and other objects
– Material type of these objects
– High-frequency interfering signals
Observe the following fitting instructions to maximise the range:
JUNG HOME room thermostat display
14 / 24
32405613 24.02.2023
J0082405613

– Plan the number of JUNG HOME devices and their positions to keep the num-
ber of ceilings and walls between two devices as low as possible
– If JUNG HOME devices are installed on both sides of a solid wall, they should
be positioned as close as possible to each other on the opposite sides of the
wall. This keeps the attenuation of the wireless signal through the wall as low
as possible.
– When planning, make sure that there are as few building materials and objects
as possible that strongly attenuate the wireless signal (e.g. concrete, glass,
metal, insulated walls, water tanks, pipes, mirrors, book cabinets, storage
rooms and refrigerators) on the connection line between JUNG HOME devices
– Keep a distance of at least 1 m from devices that emit high-frequency signals
(e.g. microwave, motors) or use wireless signals at 2.4 GHz (e.g. WLAN
router, baby monitor, IP cameras, wireless loudspeakers etc.)
DANGER!
Electric shock when live parts are touched.
Electric shocks can be fatal.
Always disconnect before carrying out work on the device or load. For this, switch off
all corresponding circuit breakers, secure against being switched on again and check
that there is no voltage. Cover up adjacent live parts.
