Preparation
ü Insert three three 3V batteries (CR 2032) and close battery
compartment. Check for orientation! Replace batteries
when the battery symbol starts to blink.
ü Alternatively use the optional USB cable and a wall socket
power adapter as alternative power source.
ü Make sure the provided RFID card for the LOT corresponding to your test is at hand.
ü Run the LFA test according to the IFU
ü If the Battery Warning Symbol shows up and you are running in Timer Mode, change batteries as soon as
possible or use the optional USB cable as power source.
Measurement
ü Switch on VCH-Reader by pressing the button shortly (< 1s).
ü VCH-Reader shows ON.
ü For Direct Read press button once shortly (< 1s).
ü For Timer Read press and hold button until the display shows
RFID (> 1s).
ü VHC-Reader shows RFID.
ü Put LOT specific RFID card on top of VHC-Reader and wait for audi-
ble signal as acknowledgement for the transmission. You might
need to move the RFID card a little bit to start data transmission.
ü VHC-Reader shows TEST.
ü Insert test into adapter and put VHC-Reader on top of the
adapter.
ü Start measurement by pressing the button shortly (< 1s).
ü In Timer Mode, the remaining time until automatic measurement
is shown as a countdown on the display.
ü Hint: In order to check the corresponding test LOT, press the but-
ton for more than 1s after the display shows TEST.
ü VCH-Reader shows RUN and after a few seconds the result.
ü Results can be saved by pressing and holding the button
(> 1s => SAVE).
ü VHC-Reader turns off by itself after 50s of inactivity and stores the
last measurement
Data Management
Data saved on the VHC-Reader may be accessed from a PC by the optional DataReader software in connection
with the optional USB/Data cable.

Error Codes
INVALID Check if the test cassette is placed correctly below the cube and in the cassette adaptor.
ERR The device could not read the information from the RFID card.
Press button briefly (<1 sec.), display will show 'ON' and try again.
ERR XX Battery error. Replace batteries.
FAIL The device could not find a C-line. Check if the test cassette is placed correctly be-
low the cube and in the cassette adaptor. Check if C-line is clearly visible. If not,
repeat the test.
DATE The expiry date of the test LOT seems to be exceeded. The device checks the inter-
nally set time with the expiration date of the test LOT.´ Check the expiration date
of the test.
No Function Despite pressing the button no information is visible on the screen.
The batteries may be discharged.
Setting Date and Time
Bring the device to position ‘ON’.
Then, press the button shortly twice (<1 sec.). Year, date and time will appear on the display.
Press the button for about 1 sec., a flashing display appears with the first-time specification,
year. By repeated short (<1 sec.) pressing of the button, the displayed value can be changed.
When reached the wanted value (e.g. year) press the button longer (>1 sec), the appointed
value will be stored and the next time information will be presented.
Repeat these steps to successively move to year, month, day, hour and minute.
After setting the date and time information accordingly the device will display ‘OK’.
Press the button one more time, the reader will show ‘ON’ and is now ready for use. Repeat
this process after every battery change
Attention: When turning on the VHC-Reader for the first time or after changing the batteries, date
and time may need to be set.
