“FREEZE”, “PICTURE MEMORY”and “POINTER”are set to OFF.
*5 When the picture is displayed on the screen, the colors vary conversely to each of the set values of the "NEGA" mode. This
phenomenon occurs because of the characteristics of the RED, BLUE and IRIS.

Notes on using the remote control unit
●Applicable light reception range of the remote control unit
The applicable light reception range is a distance of approx.
7 m from the front axis of the remote control unit light recep-
tion section and approx. 20˚from the axis in the vertical and
horizontal plane. Please use the unit within this range.
●When direct sunlight or powerful illumination (inverter fluorescent light, flash light, etc.) hits the
remote control light reception section, the remote control may not work properly. In this case, change
the direction of this unit or the illumination.
●When there is a person or an object between the remote control and the light reception section,
signal reception may not be possible.
●If the remote control is dropped or a violent shock is applied to it, the internal mechanism and
electronic parts may be damaged. Be careful when handling it.
●When the batteries are close to depletion, the operating range will be reduced. In this case, replace
the batteries with new ones.
●When changing the batteries, always replace both batteries with new ones. Do not use a new
battery together with an old one. Otherwise, a fire or injury may result due to explosion or leakage
of the battery.
●When the remote control is not used for a long period (more than one month), remove the batteries.
Otherwise, a fire or injury may result due to leakage of the battery.
●Do not charge, disassemble or heat a battery nor throw it into a fire. Otherwise, a fire or injury may
result due to explosion or leakage of the battery.

Effective presentations
1. Use the FREEZE function when changing presentation items (p. 11).
1Press the FREEZE button to freeze the current picture.
2Switch the items on the stage and adjust the position as required. During this period, a still image of the previously shown item is
displayed.
3Press the FREEZE button again. The new item is shown on the display.
This method is especially useful when presenting consecutive items that are the same size (zoom or focus function is not used).
2. Use the PICTURE MEMORY buttons 1 to 3 (p. 16).
Example 1 : When comparing and examining three tables, store them in the PICTURE MEMORY (1 to 3). These three tables can be
switched with one button.
Example 2 : Shoot a 3D object at various angles using the 5-position camera arm function (p. 8) and store the different shots in
memory. These stored images can be used to enhance your presentation.
Example 3 : Store frequently used presentation material (documents, objects, etc.) to make your presentation run more smoothly.
To show a picture from the camera, press the same button (PICTURE MEMORY 1 to 3) again or press the "FREEZE" button. To show a still
picture with the "FREEZE" function when in the PICTURE MEMORY mode, press the "FREEZE" button once and press it once more to show a
picture from the camera.
3. Use the VIDEO OUT function when changing items (p. 12).
1Connect the optional LCD monitor (TA-AV-Z7U) etc. to the VIDEO OUT connector on the rear of this unit (p. 6).
2When switching items on the stage, press the VIDEO OUT button. The display screen goes black. However, the picture from the
camera can be checked on a local monitor.
3Change the items and adjust the zoom, iris, etc. by checking the picture on the local monitor.
4When you have completed all necessary adjustments, press the VIDEO OUT button again. The new item is shown on the display.
This method is recommended when showing items of different sizes and when using the zoom and iris, etc.
By taking advantage of this presenter’s many features, you can conduct a more effective presentations.
Notes:
●Depending on the type of projector, RGB output pictures may be distorted or may take time to appear when switching.
●Depending on the type of projector, indications such as “NO SYNC”may appear when signals are switched off.
4. Use the split mode of the FREEZE function (p. 11).
1Set the split mode with the ON-SCREEN ADJUSTMENTS. The screen can be divided horizontally (“Hori.”) or vertically (“Verti.”).
2Place the item on the lower half (“Hori.”is selected) or the right half (“Verti.”is selected) of the stage. Press the FREEZE button to
freeze the picture. (The indicator blinks.) For example, show an object with closed cover.
3The upper or left half of the stage is used to show a real time moving picture. Therefore, move the object to the upper or left half of
the stage and open the cover. Now, the object is shown with the cover opened and closed on the same screen.
This split mode is also useful to switch presentation materials continuously while keeping the contents fixed.
5. Give an explanation using the POINTER when a picture is frozen.
1Press the FREEZE button to freeze the current picture.
2Explain the item being viewed by moving the cursor around with the POINTER buttons to show your audience what you are talking
about. The pointer can be moved in the direction shown by the arrows on the remote control. As the picture is frozen with the
FREEZE function, the pointer does not shift from the item on the screen even if the material has moved.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Problem Points to Check
●Is the power plug removed from the AC outlet?
●Is the power switch turned on?
●Is the cable connected correctly?
●Is the camera head positioned correctly?
●Is the iris set value appropriate (p. 13)?
●Is the RGB OUT or VIDEO OUT connector switched correctly?
●Are the MODE switch and SYNC. switch set appropriately (p. 5)?
●Did you store the picture in PICTURE MEMORY before recalling it? If you did not store it after
the power is turned on, a black screen is shown (p. 16).
●Is the close-up lens set?
●Is the object too close to the lens or is the top of the object at a height of more than 100 mm from
the stage surface?
●Has the film set in the slide film holder been enlarged too much?
●Did you shoot the surrounding objects with a camera on which the close-up lens is set (p. 9)?
●If this unit is connected to a projector, check if the projector is out of focus.
●Is the close-up lens or camera lens dirty? Clean it with a commercially available cleaner.
●Is the side illumination on?
●Is the iris set value appropriate?
●The dots in the printed matter interfere with the pixels in the camera image device and color
stripes may occur. In this case, change the picture size slightly with the ZOOM buttons.
●Did you adjust the tone with the AUTO WHITE SET (p. 11)?
●Is the set value for [RED LEVEL] and [BLUE LEVEL] of the ON-SCREEN ADJUSTMENTS opti-
mum?
●When this unit is used near equipment generating a strong electric wave or a digital device such as
a personal computer, beats may occur in the picture. Keep this unit away from such equipment.
●When two or more buttons are pressed simultaneously or the button is pressed many times
continuously, this unit may not operate correctly. When pressing buttons, leave an interval be-
tween presses.
●With some buttons, an on-screen display is shown and some buttons do not work when another
function is activated. Refer to the description on the buttons.
●As a high-pixel CCD is used in this unit, signal processing takes time. As a result, picture move-
ment is slow (about 4 to 5 frames/second).
●Are there batteries in the remote control unit?
●Are the batteries exhausted?
●Is the remote control unit being operated outside the effective range (p. 16)?
●Black or white spots may appear in rare cases due to the high-pixel CCD characteristics of a
moving picture. If the picture is enlarged with the DIGITAL ZOOM function and spots are particu-
larly noticeable, switch the DIGITAL ZOOM off.
●During the SVGA mode when a moving object is projected onto the screen, yellow or blue colors
may be reflected at its focal point or a grid pattern may appear. In either case use another mode.
If you encounter a problem, first check the following points to see if a solution is provided. If the problem persists, stop using the unit
and consult your JVC dealer.
