= Infor ation for onitor operation =
This onitor uses a high precision CRT (cathode ray tube). Please follow the procedures below. *For stable operation of the CRT, approxi ately 30 inutes running ti e is required fro the ti e the power is turned on. *When the onitor is installed, it can be easily affected by surrounding agnetic fields, which can generate irregular color on
the screen. When it is difficult to eradicate, degauss fro outside using a degausser, etc.

POWER CONNECTION The power supply voltage rating of this product is AC 120 V (For U.S.A. and Canada only) and AC 230 V (For European countries or United Kingdo ), the power cord attached confor s to the following power supply voltage and countries. Use only the power cord designated to ensure Safety and EMC regulations of each countries. P wer c rd Power supply voltage : AC 120 V AC 230 V AC 230 V Countries : U.S.A. and Canada European countries United Kingdo Warning: ●
Do not use the sa e Power Cord for AC 120 V as for AC 230 V. Doing so ay cause alfunction, electric shock or fire.
N te f r the United Kingd m p wer c rd nly The plug on the United Kingdo power cord has a built-in fuse. When replacing the fuse, be sure to use only a correctly rated approved type, re-fit the fuse cover. (Consult your dealer or qualified service personnel.)
H w t replace the fuse Open the fuse co part ent with the blade screw driver, and replace the fuse. (* An exa ple is shown in the illustration.)
PRECAUTIONS ● Use only the power source specified on the unit.
(120 V AC/230 V AC, 50 Hz/60Hz)
● When not using this unit for a long period of ti e, or when
cleaning it, be sure to disconnect the power plug fro the AC outlet.
● Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. And do not
place this unit where people will tread on the cord. Do not overload wall outlets or power cords as this can result in a fire or electric shock.
● Avoid using this unit under the following conditions:
– in extre ely hot, cold or hu id places, – in dusty places, – near appliances generating strong agnetic fields, – in places subject to direct sunlight, – in badly ventilated places, – in auto obiles with doors closed.
● Do not cover the ventilation slots while in operation as this
could obstruct the required ventilation flow.
● When dust accu ulates on the screen surface, clean it with
a soft cloth.
● Unplug this unit fro the AC outlet and refer servicing to
qualified service personnel under the following conditions: –when the power cord is frayed or the plug is da aged, –if liquid has been spilled into the unit, –if the unit has been dropped or the cabinet has been
da aged,
–when the unit exhibits a distinct change in perfor ance.
● Do not atte pt to service this unit yourself as opening or
re oving covers ay expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Always refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
● When replace ent parts are required, have the service
personnel verify in writing that the replace ent parts he/she uses have the sa e safety characteristics as the original parts. Use of anufacturer’s specified replace ent parts can prevent fire, shock, or other hazards.
● Upon co pletion of any servicing or repair work to this unit,
please ask the service personnel to perfor the safety check described in the anufacturer’s service literature.
● When this unit reaches the end of its useful life, i proper
disposal could result in a picture tube i plosion. Ask qualified service personnel to dispose of this unit.

In order to prevent any fatal accidents caused by isoperation or ishandling the onitor, be fully aware of all the following precautions.
WARNINGS To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this onitor to rain or oisture. Dangerous high voltages are present inside the unit. Do not re ove the back cover of the cabinet. When servicing the onitor, consult qualified service personnel. Never try to service it yourself. WARNING : THIS APPARATUS MUST
BE EARTHED.
This onitor is equipped with a 3-blade grounding-type plug to satisfy FCC rule. If you are unable to insert the plug into the outlet, contact your electrician.

I proper operations, in particular alternation of high voltage or changing the type of tube ay result in x-ray e ission of considerable dose. P wer indicat r Unlit : The ain power is OFF. Orange : The ain power is ON, but the onitor’s power
is OFF (in the stand-by ode).
Green : The ain power is ON, and the onitor’s power
is ON (in the nor al operation ode).
P wer switch [POWER ] Press the power switch to turn the onitor’s power ON or OFF when the ain power is ON. Speaker A built-in speaker is located inside the right side panel when the onitor is viewed fro the front.

The input signal (the INPUT function) or the aspect ratio (the ASPECT RATIO function) can be selected by external control using a switch cable. Setting of the INPUT REMOTE or ASPECT REMOTE ite in the <SET- UP MENU> screen is required before using external control. Refer to the HOW TO USE EXTERNAL CONTROL on page 14 for ore details. HOW TO HANDLE BASIC OPERATIONS
BASIC OPERATION PICTURE ADJUSTMENT 2. Press the POWER switch t turn n the p wer.
ON :Power turns ON. (Power indicator: lit)
Green: The ain power is ON, and the onitor’s
power is ON (in the nor al operation ode).
OFF :Power turns OFF. (Power indicator: unlit)
Orange :The ain power is ON, but the onitor’s
power is OFF (in the standby ode)
Unlit :The ain power is OFF.
3. Press the INPUT SELECT butt ns t ch se input.
Select video/audio signals input to ter inals on the rear panel. The selected button lights in green.
4. Press the VOLUME/SELECT butt ns t adjust the
speaker v lume.
Press this button to display the speaker volu e level on the screen. + : The Built-in speaker volu e is increased. (00 = 50) – : The Built-in speaker volu e is decreased. (50 = 00) * Screen indication will disappear about 10 seconds after operating. * The on-screen display goes off when you press MENU button.

*Pressing the CHROMA/PHASE button and CONTRAST/BRIGHT button
alternately while the ite is shown on screen restores the previous status. When no ite is shown on screen, CHROMA and CONTRAST have priority.
*Screen indication will disappear about 10 seconds after operating. *The on-screen display goes off when you press MENU button.
About the STATUS indication ● With the COLOR SYSTEM setting set
to AUTO ode, when you turn on the power or select inputs, the color syste indication appears for about 3 seconds on the screen while PAL or NTSC signals are being detected.
It does not appear when receiving a
B/W signal or when no signal is input.
Refer to page 8 for ore infor ation
about COLOR SYSTEM setting and page 9 for ore infor ation about STATUS indication setting. N tes:
● Phase control is effective only in the
NTSC color syste ode.
● Chro a control is not effective when
receiving B/W or when no signal is input.
● When CHROMA is adjusted to “–40,”
the picture beco es less colorful.
● “NO EFFECT” is displayed (for about
3 seconds) when your selected function has no effect.

The <MENU> screen is displayed. * The on-screen display goes off auto atically after about five

ASPECT RATIO setting and the aspect ratio cannot be changed fro the <MENU> screen.

the signal (Input A (VIDEO), Input B (VIDEO) or Input B (Y/C)) selected with the input select buttons on the front panel. Select the required video input with the input select buttons on the front panel in advance.
●WHITE BALANCE can be set independently at 6500 or 9300 for the color te perature
value. Set COLOR TEMP. to 6500 or 9300 on the <MENU> screen beforehand.

HOW TO INITIALIZE THE SETTING
SCREEN DISPLAY AND SELECTIONS IN THE <SET-UP MENU RESET MODE
You can set <MENU> and <SET-UP MENU> screen ite s, picture adjust ent ite s and the volu e level to their factory-set (initial) values.
1. Press the P wer ( ) switch t turn the p wer
OFF (activate the standby m de).
The <SET-UP MENU> RESET screen is displayed.

PHASE butt n, press the P wer ( ) switch t turn
the p wer ON.
3. Setting
 Initialization is required.  Initialization is not required.
Press the VOLUME/SELECT [+] button. * Initialization is co pleted, and the <SET-UP MENU>
RESET screen disappears.
Press the MENU button. * Initialization is aborted, and the <SET-UP MENU>
RESET screen disappears.
●The <SET-UP MENU> RESET screen will not be
displayed if the MENU or CHROMA/PHASE buttons are pressed for a very short ti e. Keep pressing the until the display screen appears.

WHITE BALANCE Adjusts the white balance. Selects the drive (DRV) or cut off (CUTO) adjust ent. The selected
setting screen is shown. Select the function display for adjust ent.
DRIVE R. DRIVE Adjusts red level.
B. DRIVE Adjusts blue level.
CUT OFF R. CUT OFF Adjusts red cut off.
G. CUT OFF Adjusts green cut off. B. CUT OFF Adjusts blue cut off.
CONTROL LOCK Sets the operation buttons on the front
panel to control lock ode.
STATUS DISPLAY Sets the status display of the color syste . INPUT REMOTE Sets external control of input selection *1
(INPUT A/B).
ASPECT REMOTE Sets external control of the aspect ratio. *1
4. T set the ther set-up menu items, repeat the
pr cedures 2 and 3.
5. Press the MENU butt n t quit.
N tes:
●When the CONTROL LOCK function
is set to ON, pressing operation buttons on the front panel will display the essage “CONTROL LOCK ON!” on the screen for about 3 seconds.
●The CONTROL LOCK function is
aintained even when the power is turned off.
●To turn off the CONTROL LOCK
function, while holding the MENU button press the CHROMA/PHASE button. Then set the CONTROL LOCK function to OFF.
●Even when the CONTROL LOCK
function is set to ON, the following operations are available: – Power Switch operation – Volu e control with the VOLUME/
SELECT buttons
– Display or disappear of the <SET-
UP MENU> screen.
●The STATUS DISPLAY function can
be set to display (ON) or not display (OFF) the present color syste when the power is turned on or the input signal is changed. Refer to page 7 for ore infor ation.
●When INPUT REMOTE is activated
(ON), and any one of the INPUT A and B buttons is pressed, “REMOTE ON!” appears on screen for about 3 seconds.
●To enable external control (the INPUT
or ASPECT RATIO function), set INPUT REMOTE or ASPECT REMOTE to ON.

BASIC CONNECTION EXAMPLE
N tes:
• Before connecting your syste , ake sure that all units are turned off. • The illustration below shows so e exa ples of different connections. Ter inal connections ay differ depending on the
co ponent connected. Be sure to refer to the instructions provided with the unit(s) you are connecting.
• Each pair of input (IN) and output (OUT) ter inals are bridge-connected. • If you’re not connecting any equip ent to a bridged output (OUT) ter inal, be sure not to connect any other cables to the
bridged output (OUT) ter inal as this will cause the ter inating resistance switch to open (auto ter inate function).
• When aking a bridge connection, connect the input (IN) and output (OUT) ter inals on the onitor to separate video
co ponents. (For exa ple, if both ter inals are connected to the sa e VCR, resonance ay occur except during playback. This is caused by the sa e video signal “looping” between the VCRs, and is not a alfunction.)
• Select the video input signal (INPUT A(VIDEO) or INPUT B (VIDEO/Y/C)) with the INPUT SELECT buttons on the front panel.
When both VIDEO B ter inals are connected (input) at the sa e ti e, the Y/C ter inal has priority.

Is the power plug loosened or disconnected? Is the ain power turned OFF? Is the video signal output fro the connected co ponent? Is the input signal selected properly? Is the video cable disconnected? Is the audio signal output fro the connected co ponent? Is the volu e output set to ini u ? Is the audio cable disconnected? Is the onitor close to a device generating a strong agnetic field? Is the color syste selected properly? Has the picture control setting (CONTRAST, BRIGHT, CHROMA or PHASE) been changed? Is the onitor close to a speaker, agnet or any other device generating a strong agnetic field? Is the aspect ratio set to 16:9? Has control of the buttons been locked? (Has the CONTROL LOCK function been set to ON?) Is input selection under external control? (Has the INPUT REMOTE function been activated (ON)?)
Measures (Remedy)
Fir ly insert the power plug. Turn the ain power ON. (See page 6.) Set the connected co ponent correctly. Select the required video signal input with the Input select button. (See page 7.) Connect the video signal cable fir ly. (See pages 12 and 13.) Set the connected co ponent correctly. Adjust the speaker volu e with the VOLUME/ SELECT button. (See page 7.) Connect the audio signal cable fir ly. (See pags 12 and 13.) Move the device away fro the onitor until the picture stabilizes. Set COLOR SYSTEM in the <MENU> screen to AUTO. (See page 8.) Set each picture control to the standard setting. (See page 7.) Move the device away fro the onitor and turn the onitor’s power off. Wait at least 30 inutes, then turn the power on again. Set ASPECT RATIO in the <MENU> screen to [4 : 3 (4 – 3)]. (See page 8.) When controlling externally, ASPECT RATIO should be set to [4 : 3 (4 – 3)]. (See page 14.) Set CONTROL LOCK in the <SET-UP MENU> screen to OFF. (See pages 9 and 10.) Set INPUT REMOTE in the <SET-UP MENU> screen to OFF. (See pages 9 and 10.)
TROUBLESHOOTING

If n ne f the s luti ns presented here s lves the pr blem, unplug the m nit r and c nsult a JVC-auth rized dealer r service center f r assistance. The f ll wing are n t malfuncti ns: ●When a bright still i age (such as a white cloth) is displayed for a long period, it ay appear to be colored. This is due to the
structure of the cathode ray tube and will be deleted when another i age is displayed.
●You experience a ild electric shock when you touch the picture tube. This pheno enon is due to a nor al buildup of static
electricity on the CRT and is not har ful.
●The onitor e its a strange sound when the roo te perature changes suddenly. This is only a proble if an abnor ality
appears on the screen as well.
●If two or ore onitors are operated next to each other, their i ages ay shake or be distorted. This pheno enon is due to
utual interference; it is not a alfunction. Move the onitors away fro each other until the interference disappears or turn the power off on any onitor that is not being used.

ABOUT EXTERNAL CONTROL This onitor is provided with an external control ter inal. The function is controlled with H and L (short-circuit/open with the 15th pin GND) N te: ●The ASPECT RATIO or INPUT function can be controlled via the REMOTE ter inal by setting ASPECT REMOTE or INPUT
REMOTE to ON in the <SET-UP MENU> screen. (Refer to pages 9 and 10.)
