Safety Warnings
Ventilation
• To prevent the risk of electric shock or
re hazard due to overheating, ensure
that curtains and other materials do not
obstruct the ventilation vents.
• A minimum distance of 5 cm around the
unit should be maintained to allow for
sucient ventilation.
• Do not install or place this unit in a
bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another
conned space. Ensure the unit is well
ventilated.
Safety
• Always disconnect the unit from the mains
supply before connecting / disconnecting
other devices or moving the unit.
• Unplug the unit from the mains socket
during a lightning storm.
• In the interests of safety and to avoid
unnecessary energy consumption,
never leave the unit switched on while
unattended for long periods of time, e.g.
overnight, while on holiday or while out of
the house. Switch it o and disconnect the
mains plug from the mains socket.
Mains Adapter Cable
• Make sure the unit or unit stand is not
resting on top of the mains adapter cable,
as the weight of the unit may damage the
cable and create a safety hazard.
Mains Adapter
• The mains adapter will continue to
draw electricity from the mains supply
when plugged in the mains socket.
In the interests of safety and to avoid
unnecessary energy consumption, never
leave the adapter plugged in the mains
socket while unattended for long periods
of time. Disconnect the adapter from the
power supply.
Use only power supplies listed in the
user instructions.
The mains plug is used as disconnect
device, the disconnect device shall
remain readily operable.
Interference
• Do not place the unit on or near appliances
which may cause electromagnetic
interference. If you do, it may adversely
aect the operating performance of the
unit, and cause a distorted picture or
sound.
• Read all the instructions carefully before
using the unit and keep them for future
reference.
• Retain the manual. If you pass the unit
onto a third party make sure to include this
manual.
• Check that the voltage marked on the
rating label matches your mains voltage.
Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after
unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you
are in any doubt about it working normally,
or if it is damaged in any way - switch o,
withdraw the mains plug and consult your
dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable
surface and should not be subjected to
vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable
surfaces as the unit may fall o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the
unit and should be easily accessible.
• This unit is designed for indoor, domestic
use only.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature,
either hot or cold. Place the unit well away
from heat sources such as radiators or gas /
electric res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other
sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked
ame on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or
product damage, do not expose this unit
to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing.
No objects lled with liquids, such as
vases, should be placed on the unit. Do
not operate the unit with wet hands, near
water or other liquid.
• If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can
cause serious damage. Switch it o at the
mains immediately. Withdraw the mains
plug and consult your dealer.

Supervision
• Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the unit.
• Never let anyone especially children push
anything into the holes, slots or any other
openings in the case - this could result in a
fatal electric shock.

Service

Connections
Using the AUX Connection
Connect the AUX IN socket at the rear of the unit to the line output sockets on the auxiliary
equipment using a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm stereo audio cable (not included), as illustrated.
Using Earphones
Turn down the volume before connecting the earphones. Slowly raise the volume with the
earphones on until you reach your desired volume. When earphones are connected, the
speaker is automatically muted.

Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is best to avoid extreme volume when
using earphones, especially for extended periods.

Charging from the USB Charging Port
The USB 5V 1A socket is designed only for charging mobile devices (e.g. MP3 player,
mobile phone, etc.). It supplies 5V DC at a charging current of up to 1000 mA (1 A).
Use a USB cable (not included) to connect mobile device to the USB 5V 1A socket of the
unit and the mobile device will start charging.

Connecting to Internet
This radio can be connected to a local area network (LAN) via the network port at the rear
of the unit.
Wired network
Connect the NETWORK socket on the unit to the corresponding port on your Router using
a commercially available LAN or Ethernet cable (CAT5 or better with RJ45 connector).
Using a wired network provides a better performance than a wireless connection because
the attached devices connect directly to the network and are not subject to radio frequency
interference.

• This unit cannot be connected to a standalone modem directly. A router or a modem incorporated
with a router has to be used.
• When plugging or unplugging the LAN cable, hold the plug portion of the cable. When unplugging,
do not pull on the LAN cable but unplug while pressing down on the lock.
• Do not connect a modular phone cable to the network socket.
• Since there are various connection congurations, please follow the specications and instructions of
your telecommunication carrier, Internet service provider, and router setting guidebook.

In the example conguration for a wireless connection below, the unit would be able to
access content from your computer connected to the same wireless network.
The network conguration and connection method may vary depending on the equipment
in use and the network environment.

Initial Setup
Turning the Radio On for the First Time
Connecting to the Mains Supply
• Connecting the unit to any other power source may damage the unit. Unwind the
mains adapter cable to its full length. Connect the end of the unit and then connect the
mains adapter to the mains socket. Make sure the mains adapter is rmly inserted into
the mains socket. The unit is now connected and ready to use.
• To switch the unit o completely, remove the mains plug from the mains socket.
• Always unclip and extend the aerial
when listening to DAB or FM radio.
The aerial has a swivel base so can
be set to dierent angles for best
reception.
• Extend the aerial before switching
to DAB mode for the rst time.
This will ensure that the initial scan
captures all stations in your area.

Connecting To The Internet For The First Time
1. When your radio is connected to power the splash
screen (welcome message and then the unset time
clock) will appear.
2. Press the On/Standby button to switch on the unit, and
the display will show the“Privacy policy” page.
3. Please visit the website mentioned in the page
for the details of the privacy policy. Press /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to accept.
4. The Setup wizard menu will now appear on the screen. The
word ‘YES’ will be highlighted, press the / SCROLL/
SELECT dial to conrm.
You now have to decide if you want to connect your radio to
the internet now or later. If you want to connect now, then
select YES in the ‘Setup wizard’ or if later then select NO. To
get the most out of your radio we recommend you select YES
and connect it to the internet now.

The Date/Time screen will now appear you can choose to
display the time using a 12 hour clock or 24 hour clock.
5. Turn / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select 12 or 24, and
then press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
The Auto update screen will now appear, here you can choose
where you would like the time and date to be updated from.
6. Turn / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Update from
DAB, Update from FM or Update from network (the
internet). Then press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to
conrm.
If you chose to ‘Update from network’, the Set timezone
screen will now appear, here you can choose your time zone.
If you chose ‘Update from DAB‘ or ‘Update from FM‘, go to
step 7.
7. Turn / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select your desired
time zone. Then press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to
conrm.

The Daylight saving screen will now appear, here you can
choose if the set daylight saving ON or OFF.
8. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select ON or OFF.
Then press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
9. Select YES and then press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial
to keep network connected.
The display will show“Please select Wlan region?” and
then the Wlan region menu. Turn the / SCROLL/
SELECT dial to select the region, and then press the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
Your radio will now scan for your wireless network, this may
take a few seconds then a list of all the wireless networks will
appear on the screen.
10. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select your
wireless network. Then press the / SCROLL/SELECT
dial to conrm.
To connect your radio to your router using the WPS button follow the instructions
below (Connecting Using the WPS button on your Router).
OR
To connect your radio to your router using your password follow the instructions
on the next page (Connecting Using Your Wireless Network Password).
Connecting using the WPS button on your router
Connecting using the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button on your router is a quick and easy
way to connect your radio without having to type in a password.
If your router has a WPS button you will notice [WPS] at the front of your network name.
If you don’t see your wireless network scroll down to rescan and try
again or you may need to move your radio closer to your wireless
router, the closer the better.
9. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select ‘Push
button’ then press OK.
You will now see a message on the screen telling
you to press the WPS button on your router.

Connection using your wireless network password
If your router hasn’t got a WPS button you will now be asked to
enter your wireless network password, or you can select SKIP
WPS which will also take you to the password screen.
12. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select each letter/
number of your password. Then press the / SCROLL/
SELECT dial to enter the selected letter/number.

10. Press the WPS button on your router. Check your routers
instruction manual if you are unsure which button is the
WPS button.
11. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm. Your
radio will now connect to your router, this may take a few
seconds. The message ‘Setup wizard completed’ will be
displayed when your radio has connected, press the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to exit the menu.

13. When you have entered your password, the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to select OK on the right of the
screen. Then press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to
conrm. The screen will show the words ‘Please wait
connecting’ for a few seconds. Then you will see the
message ‘Setup wizard completed’. Press the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to exit.
Your radio is now connected to the internet.

Basic Operation
Switching ON/OFF
Press button on the unit to switch the unit between the On and Standby mode.
Remove the mains plug from the mains socket if you want to switch the unit o completely.
Selecting Modes
Press MODE button on the unit, and then turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to switch
between Internet radio, Music player, DAB radio, FM radio, Bluetooth Audio and AUX
in mode. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
In Internet radio, Music player, DAB radio, Bluetooth Audio and AUX in mode, the unit will
automatically go to Standby mode after 15 minutes if it has no audio playback. Press Standby button to
resume.
Adjusting the Volume
Turn –VOLUME+ dial to adjust the volume.
Automatically Setting the Clock
The clock can be set and updated automatically if the unit receives Internet / DAB / FM
signals in your location. In order for the clock to synchronise to the current local time you
must leave it on Internet / DAB / FM station for a short period of time. You can also choose
how you would like to keep the clock up to date from Internet, DAB or FM radio signals. Go
to Menu - System Settings - Time/Date - Auto Update.

System Settings
Equaliser
The unit support a variety of equalizers and sound eects.
1. Press MENU button, and then turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select System
settings. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
2. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Equaliser. Press the / SCROLL/
SELECT to conrm.
3. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select a prole through Flat, Classic, Rock,
Pop and Jazz, and then press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
Network Settings
The Network settings menu has all the setting for connecting your radio to your Wi-Fi. So if
you have to re-connect your radio at any time go into the Network settings menu.
Network wizard SSID – select the desire wireless network.
Rescan – Scan for available networks.
Wired – select wired network.
Manual cong – select wired/wireless network with DHCP enable/
disable.
PBC Wlan setup Press the WPS button on the modem device that you wish to
connect with. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to continue.
View settings Display the setting on the unit.
Wlan region Select a region of your choice.
Manual settings Select wired/wireless network with DHCP enable/disable.
Network prole View the connected network.
Clear network
settings
To delete the connected network memory in Network prole.

Setting the Time and Date
1. Press MENU button, and then turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select System
settings. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
2. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Time/Date. Press the / SCROLL/
SELECT dial to conrm.
3. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select options, and then press the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm the setting.
Set Time/Date Here you can manually set the time and date.
Auto Update Choose how you want the time to be automatically updated.
Update from DAB / Update from FM / Update from Network / No
Update
Set format Set 12 Hour or 24 Hour display
Set timezone Select a time zone. (Only available when Auto update from Network
is on.)
Daylight savings Select daylight savings. (Only available when Auto update from
Network is on.)
Inactive Standby
Use the Inactive Standby to turn o the unit after a certain time in play mode.
1. Press MENU button, and then turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select System
settings. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT to conrm.
2. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Inactive Standby. Press the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
3. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select between O, 2 hours, 4 hours, 5
hours and 6 hours. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT to conrm.
Language
This feature enables you to change menu language.
1. Press MENU button, and then turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select System
settings. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
2. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Language. Press the / SCROLL/
SELECT dial to conrm.
3. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT to select a language, and then press the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.

Factory Reset
If you want to delete all your stations and settings, you can return your radio back to the
default setting by running a Factory Reset.
1. Press MENU button, and then turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select System
settings. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
2. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Factory reset. Press the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
3. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Ye s . Press the / SCROLL/SELECT
dial to conrm.
4. The display will show the“JVC” logo, and then the unit will switch into Standby mode
after factory reset is done.
After the system reset, all the tuned stations, preset stations will be erased.
Software update
1. Press MENU button, and then turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select System
settings. Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
2. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Software update. Press the /
SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
3. Turn the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to select Auto-check setting or Check now.
Press the / SCROLL/SELECT dial to conrm.
Before downloading software, ensure that the radio is plugged into a stable mains power connection.
Interrupting the mains supply during software download can lead to functional disturbances and/or
damage to the unit!
Setup wizard
The setup wizard is available in the system settings section; you
can run through this to congure settings for date/time and
network. Once this has nished, your radio is ready to use.
It is not necessary to run through the setup wizard if a wired network
is being used.
