1.TRANSPORT
ThecircularknifesharpeningmachineRMSisdeliveredinawoodenboxonpallet.The
grossweight(incl.packing)ofthemachineisaround115Kg.Thetransporttakesplace
withpallettruckorforklift.
1.1ENVIRONMENTALCONDITIONS

PlacethecircularsharpeningmachineRMSonlyindryrooms.
Environmentaltemperature: from+5to+50°C
Humidity: upto90%;notcondensing
1.2SETUP
Movethepalletascloseaspossibletothefinalpositionofthemachine.Thenremovethe
screwjointsbetweenmachineandpallet.Beforeplacingthemachineatitsfinalposition
onthefloor,screwin,themachinefeetfrombelow.Pleasepayattentionthatthemachine
isalignedhorizontalonthefloor.Thealignmentshouldbedonebyuseofabubblelevel
(Standardmodelissufficient).Placethebubblelevelontopofthecabinetandalignin
boothdirectionbyadjustingthemachinefeet.
Pleasepayattention,thattheplaceofthemachinegrantsavibrationfreeoperation.

Fordamagescausedbyignoranceornotfollowingtheoperatingmanual,noliabilityis
assumed!
Whendealingwithcircularandshapeknifegreatestcautionisneeded,becausethiscan
havethesharpnessofarazoranditcanresultinsignificantcutsifhandledcarelessly.
Tolargelyavoidthese,theuseofcutprotectionglovesisstronglyrecommended.

ThecircularknifesharpeningmachineRMSisexclusivelyintendedforsharpening
circularbladeintherangeofØ100mmtoØ350mm.Thedirectedincludesalsoreading
thisoperationmanual,aswellaskeepingallcontainingdirectionsofuseespeciallythe
safetyinformation.
Forallpersonalandmaterialdamages,arisingbynotintendeduse,notthe
manufacturer,buttheuseroftheRMSisresponsible!

Centerthecircularknifebyselectingthecuttablespacerringontheclampingflange.
Nowfixthecircularknifewiththepressurediskandthefixationnutontheclamping
flange(seePicture).
Beforetighteninguporloosingthefixationnut,theshaftfixationpinmustbepressed
down.Turnthemotorshaftwiththecwrenchtillthepinlocksintheshaftfixation.

Afteryouhavefixedthecircularknife,placethelynetteonthebackoftheknife.Alignthe
lynetteinthewaythatthewheelisturningsoftly(e.g.circularknife10°,lynetteapprox.
15°).Dependingonthetypeofcircularknife,youcanadjusttheangleofthelynettehead
correspondingly.Thelynetteistosupportofthecircularknifeandgrantsaburrfree
bevel.

5.BASICREGARDINGGRINDING

Pleasekeepinmind,thatgrindingbasicallyisaformofsofttreatment.Forgetting
optionalresults,pleasepayattentiontosomeelementaryrules.
Physicallygrindingisainteractionbetweenmaterialoftheworkpiece,thesuitable
abrasive,bindingoftheabrasive,gritsize,coolingliquidandfinalythewellmatched
feedingsizeaswellashaltandgrindingcycleswithoutfeeding.
Forachievingperfectprecisionitisbasiclyconsideredusingsmallfeedingsizes(4µ),
haltcyclesofminimum15to30secondsataspeedof10to20rpm,coolingliquid
directedtothecircularknife.
Itisabsolutelyrecommendedtofocusyourattentiontothegrindingcycleswithno
feeding.Thistimespanshouldlastalonguntilyouhearnomorenoisefromthegrinding
wheel.Thatgrantsthatthecompletefeedingsizehasbeenworkedoff.
Surelygrindingalsomeansscrubtreatmentbutthisiswithit'sparametersquitesobering
foranamateuringrinding.Scrubbingmeansverycoarsegrit,openbondingofthe
grindingwheel,feedingofmax.12µ,haltperiodsofmin.1030seconds,atknife
rotationof15to25rpmandalotofcoolingliquid.
Asmentionedabove,theseparametersareonlyaroughguidelinewhichgrantsthat
choosesparameterscanbeprocessedbythemachine.Finally,factorsasgrinding
mediumandmaterialhastobeconsideredandspeciallyselectedforeachapplication.
Material:HSS,highgradesteelhardened,steelhardenedetc.cansuccessfully
sharpenedwithacorundumorCBNgrindingwheel.
Byuseofresinoidbondabrasivematerial,thecoolingliquidshouldhavemin.10%oil
content,asthisabrasivebondproducesaconsiderablerubbingontheworkpiececausing
moreheat.
Material:Carbidesteelglass,ceramicscanbesharpenedsuccessfullybyadiamond
wheel.Aswrittenbefore,anadequateoilcontenthastobeconsidered.

ScrewintheliftingscrewM8forliftingthegrindingwheelsupportwiththegrindingwheel.
Placethenewgrindingwheelonthemotorshaftandpayattentionthatthedrivingpinof
thegrindingwheelsupportisplacedinthegrooveofthemotorshaft.
Nowtightenthegrindingwheelsupportwithanallenwrench.

12.MAINTENANCE
ThecircularknifesharpeningmachineRMSmanualshouldbecleanedoccasionallyfrom
grindingdustwithasoftbrush.Persistantdirt,pleasecleanwithausualintrademachine
cleaner.Occasionallychecktheelectriccableandplugfordamage.
13.CLEANINGANDGREASING
ForgrantingfullfunctionalityofthecircularknifesharpeningmachineRMSmanual
shouldbecleanedperiodicallyfromgrindingdustwithasoftbrush.Alsoregularlyclean
thecoolingribsandtheventilation(fanpropeller/ventilationgrille)ofthegrindingmotor.
Persisantdirt,pleasecleanwithausualintrademachinecleaner.Occasionallycheckthe
electriccableandplugfordamage.Forpreventingcorrosion,provideblankandblue
steelpartswithaslightfilmofoil.
!Important!Theprotectivecoverplatesofthemachineprotecttheguidances,spindles
andswitchesbelowfromdirtandcoolingliquid.Sowhencleaningthemachinewiththe
coolingliquidgun,donotunderminetheseprotectivecoverplates.
14.REPAIRS
RepairsonthemachinecanonlybecarriedoutinourcompanyKaindlorbypersons
authorizedbyus.Thechangeofwearparts,asthediamondwheel,canbereplacedby
theuser.
Theexchangeofelectronicpartsmayonlybedonebyanelectroengineer!
15.DISPOSALOFTHEMACHINE
INSIDEEU
Whensendingbackthemachinetous(transportcharfesprepaid),thecompanyKaindl
SchleiftechnikReilingGmbHgrantsforthecompetentdisposalasperthecurrentlyin
forceoftheEuropeenwasteelectricalregulations.

16.WARRANTY
Thewarrantyis12monthsfromdateofshipmentandreferstoaoneshiftwork.For
multishiftwork,thewarrantyis6monthsfromdateofshipmentunderconditionofa
appropriateuseofthemachine.
Theguaranteeincludesthecostsforreplacingofdefectpartsandassemblygroups,
includingtherequiredworkingtime.Replacementcanalsoincludedrepaired,usedparts
andassemblies.
Excludedfromanyguaranteeare:
• Wearparts
• Transportdamage
• Damagebyimproperuseofthemachine
• Damagebyprogramparameterassignment
• Damagebyuseofforce
• Damagesandconsequentialdamagescausedbybreachofthedutyoftaking
careoftheuser
• damagescausedbyaggressivedetergentsascorrosiveorcausticcleaning
materials,solvents,etc.oraggressivecoolinglubricants
Incaseofawarrantyclaim,weaskyoutoinformusaboutthetype,serialNo.andyearof
constructionofthemachine.
Withoutinformationofyearandnumberofmachines,theprocessingofyourwarranty
claimisnotpossible!Returnshavetobeauthorizedbyus,beforeshipment.
Wereservetherighttochargeyouwiththetransportationcostifthereturnwasnot
authorized.
Sparepartsorreplacementpartsaretransferredabsolutelyinourownership.
