Transport and storage
▶ If possible, transport and store the feed arm heater in the
original packaging.
▶ Store the feed arm heater in a dry location and protect it
against mechanical damage.
The heaters each consist of a self-limiting heater strip, which
is U-shaped and attached to a support hose. The heater strip is
provided with a light current cable length 3.3 m for connection
to the controllers ESO 96 S, ESO 97 S, ESO 97 SL or ESO 99 S.
The heaters are intended for the feed arms ZAS 124C and ZAS
181C of the parabolic antennas CAS 124 and CAS 180 and fit
within the 42 x 42 mm clear internal dimension of the support
tube.
ESO 129
•1 x PA corrugated hose, 1.38 m
•1 x heater strip, 2.76 m
•1 x rubber hose conductor 1 mm2, 3.3 m
•1 x self-adhesive aluminium film, 5 m
•English instructions for use

Safety and installation instructions
WARNING!
When carrying out installation work in locations where there is a risk of falling, take appropriate safety
precautions, e.g. use of a working platform. Make sure that the roof is suciently strong and stable to carry
out the installation work (risk of damage or collapse). There is also a risk of serious injuries due to falling
parts.
Make sure that:
▶ The connected devices are disconnected from the power supply.
▶ The person carrying out the installation or repair does not suer from vertigo and can move around safely on the
roof.
▶ The person carrying out the installation or repair is wearing sturdy and non-slip footwear.
▶ The person carrying out the installation or repair has a secure position to stand and hold on while working.
▶ The roof and the climbing equipment used (e.g. ladder) are dry and non-slip.
▶ The roof can withstand the weight of the person carrying out the repairs.
▶ Nobody is below the antenna during installation/removal.
Installation and connection may only be performed by qualified specialist personnel.
To prevent hazards during installation and operation, the instructions and information provided must be strictly adhered to.
Proper installation and connection are prerequisites for compliance with the corresponding standards.
DANGER!
Risk of death due to electric shock in the event of contact with electrical equipment!
Correct performance of the installation and electrical connection is a crucial safety factor.
Observe the installation conditions and steps described as precisely as possible.
Modifications to the electrical installation may only be carried out by a specialist electrician. Do not make any modifica-
tions yourself.
Intended use
Do not use the ESO 126 or ESO 129 for any purposes other than those specified in these instructions. Any use other than that speci-
fied above will invalidate the warranty or guarantee.
In particular, never:
•Modify any of the components.
•Use any components other than those explicitly specified by the manufacture for use with the ESO 126 and ESO 129.
The purpose of the ESO 126/ESO 129 is to heat the feed arms ZAS 124C/ZAS 181C and prevent the build-up of snow, ice and rime on
the feed arm. Any use other than that specified above will invalidate the warranty or guarantee.
The following circumstances result in the loss of all warranty and liability claims towards the manufacturer:
•Improper installation
•Use of non-specified fixing materials, which cannot guarantee mechanical stability
•Non-permitted use
•Structural changes or interference with the components and fixing accessories in the kit, which could jeopardise both the mechan-
ical stability and functional reliability
•Use of cleaners containing solvents, such as acetone, nitro-cellulose combination thinner, petrol etc.
•Failure to observe the installation and safety instructions in this manual

Installing the heater
CAUTION!
Before installation, check the support tube of the feed arm for sharp edges on the end face of the support tube. If sharp edges
are present on the end face of the support tube, smooth the edges so that the heater strip will not be damaged by them.
Installing a new feed arm heater
Before the heater is slid into the support tube it can be wetted with a lubricant such as a silicone spray or liquid soap. This will make
insertion easier.
Slide the heater into the support tube so that the heater strip on the support hose is at the top.
Working from the rear (reflector end) of the feed arm, slide the heater into the support tube, starting with the U-bend of the heater
strip. When doing this, slightly compress the support hose.
There is no need to provide additional fastening of the heater within the support tube.
Electrical connection
1. Feed the connection cable of the feed arm heater into the terminal box of the controller and secure it with cable ties. The cable is
then threaded through the cable gland (M16) provided.
2. Before connecting the cable to the controller, check the insulation resistance Riof the heater:
Heater no. Target value Actual value
Insulation resistance Ri > 999 MΩ
3. The supply to the heater must include an earth leakage circuit-breaker.
CAUTION!
The heater for the feed arm is operated at 230 V.
