OVERVIEW
Below are the steps you need to follow to begin using your Kensington KS-EC-10L-E pocket conductivity tester. This
manual will cover how insert the batteries, using the function keys, making measurements, calibration and sensor
replacement.
INSERTING THE BATTERIES
1. Your KS-EC-10L-E pocket pH tester comes with one G13a button battery. Remove it from the package.
2. Remove the button cap found on the bottom of the tester as shown in the above image.
3. Place the battery into its designated slot. Take note of the proper position of the battery to ensure the polarities
placed correctly.
4. Replace the battery cap.

CONDUCTIVITY CALIBRATION
It is recommended that the KS-EC-10L-E should be calibrated regularly to ensure accurate measurements. The KS-
EC-10L-E allows 1 point calibration and the instrument’s acceptable calibration ranges from 100 to 180 µS/cm. These
solutions are sold separately. Ensure that you will not reuse spent calibration solutions.
1. Rinse the conductivity electrode with distilled water then rinse with a small amount of calibration solution.
2. Dip the electrode in your chosen calibration solution (146.5 µS/cm is required), stir the electrode gently.
3. Make sure there are no air bubbles trapped in the slot of the sensor.
4. Press and hold the CAL key. The tester will now enter into calibration mode.
5. Press or to set the calibration value
6. Ensure the displayed value matches your calibration standard. Press MEAS to confirm.
7. The calibration value will then automatically flash three (3) times and then go back to measurement mode to
complete the calibration.
USING THE TESTER
CONDUCTIVITY MEASUREMENT
1. Press the MEAS button to initiate measurement mode.
2. Rinse the conductivity electrode with distilled water.
3. Dip the conductivity electrode into the sample solution. Gently stir the tester.
4. Wait for the reading to stabilize and record the measurement.
TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT
To measure the temperature, press the while in measurement mode. Pressing it again returns to conductivity
mode.

HOLD FUNCTION
1. Pressing the HOLD key while in measurement mode will activate the hold function. The HOLD indicator will appear
on the display and further measurement readings will not be possible.
2. Press the HOLD key again to disable the hold function.
ELECTRODE SENSOR MAINTENANCE
1. It is recommended to keep the sensitive membrane of the sensor wet. This is accomplished by periodically dipping
the sensor in distilled water or by using an electrode storage solution when the tester is not in use.
2. If the instrument will be kept in storage for a long time, place the sensor in an electrode storage solution.
3. Make sure to wash the sensor with distilled water before and after use.
4. Do not reuse prepared buffer solutions.
ELECTRODE REPLACEMENT
One of the advantages of using the Kensington KS-EC-10L-E is that the sensor can be replaced instead of buying a
new tester when the sensor fails during calibration. Removing and installing the sensor is easy and convenient and
also increases the utility of the instrument as additional sensors can be purchased for different applications. To replace
the sensor:
1. Twist the electrode collar counter-clockwise and pull the electrode away from the instrument
2. Align the new electrode into the same spot, push, and turn clockwise to keep it secure.
