CE EN 207:2017, CE EN 208:2010, ANSI Z136, CE EN 166:2001 User Instructions for Laser Protective Eyewear
WARNINGS
USE THIS GOGGLE/SPECTACLE FOR DIFFUSE REFLECTION VIEWING ONLY
Failure to follow these safety precautions may result in serious eye injury, blindness or even death.
This laser protective eyewear is intended to offer protection against accidental exposure to certain lasers and must be marked with the requirements outlined in ANSI Z136
and/or CE EN 207 and/or CE EN 208 for the laser in use. Do not use this eyewear for any application other than stated. Do not make alterations to this eyewear. Do not operate
laser unless all users are wearing appropriate eye protection. Consult your Laser Safety Officer or Kentek's Laser Safety Officer if you have any concerns prior to use. This
product allows compliance with ANSI Z136. Familiarity with ANSI Z136 is necessary to ascertain compliance.
If the eyewear has a luminous transmittance of less than 20%, it is recommended to increase the intensity of illumination in the workplace; colored filters may reduce user
recognition of warning lights or warning signs. This eyewear may affect color recognition. Laser protective eyewear is only intended to give protection against accidental
radiation; both the limit values and the resistance tests are based on ANSI Z136 requirements and CE EN 207:2017 which requires a maximum period of 5 seconds. Avoid risk
of exposure to laser radiation due to reflection from reflective parts (including eyewear), tilting or misalignment of optical components. Inspect eyewear for discoloring, fading,
scratches or other damage. If laser protective eyewear is determined to be damaged replace prior to use. Reminder, eyewear that is optical class 3 is not intended for long term
use. The material which may come in contact with the wearer’s skin could cause allergic reactions to susceptible individuals. Laser protective eyewear against high speed
particles worn over standard ophthalmic spectacle may transmit impact, thus creating a hazard to the wearer. Laser protective eyewear which is damaged, has scratched
oculars or has undergone a color change shall not be used anymore. In case of filters with angle dependent transmittance any information shall be given that the protection is
only provided for angles of incidence up to 30°. When protection against high-speed particles at extremes of temperature is required the selected eye-protector should be
marked with the letter T immediately after the impact letter, i.e. FT, BT or AT, where impact letters are F for Low energy impact, B for Medium energy impact and A for High
energy impact. If the impact letter is not followed by the letter T then the eye protector shall only be used against high speed particles at room temperature. Regarding
compatibility of markings, if the impact symbols F, B or A on the ocular and the frame are not common to both, the lower level will be assigned to complete the eye protector.
EXPLANATION OF CE EN 207:2017 MARKINGS

EXPLANATION OF ANSI Z136 MARKINGS
ABC
OD 7 @ 532nm VLT 30
A. Optical Density (OD): minimum absorption value afforded by the frame and lens. (Logarithm to the base ten of the reciprocal of the transmittance.)
B. Wavelength (nm) for which the eyewear protection is afforded.
C. Visible Luminance Transmission (VLT %): The amount of visible light passing through a filter, weighted for the response of the human eye,
expressed as a percentage.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SPARE PARTS: Included with your laser protective eyewear are these User Instructions and a storage case or eyewear protective bag. User Instructions are required to
be in both English and translated to the language predominantly spoken in the country the eyewear is shipped to. The storage case or eyewear protective bag is to be used when the laser
protective eyewear is not in use.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FITTING: When the eyewear is worn the eye should not be able to see outside of the protected lens or frame. The user should not be able to see the laser without
protection from the laser filter or frame. A user should not have more than 8mm or less between the user’s temple and frame. If the user is complaining about discomfort or eyewear is slipping,
fogging or constantly needs to be readjusted this is a sure sign the eyewear does not fit properly. We suggest adding comfort or no slip pads or having a variety of frame styles available to
achieve proper fit. Testing a secure fit by motioning the head up, down, side to side and simulation of the eyewear in use prior to the laser being on is important to ensure a proper fit. No one
frame fits all facial types. Frame features like adjustable, bendable temples and tilting eyewear fronts may help with fit. Proper fit is key, always confirm your eyewear and the eyewear of others
is warn properly prior to use.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS: Use only mild soap, warm water and soft cloth to clean Kentek laser protective eyewear.
DO NOT USE CLEANING SOLVENTS
STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS: When not in use eyewear should be stored in supplied protective case. Avoid extreme temperatures
of >105 degrees F (40.55 C) or <32 degrees F (0 C).
