Product Overview
Ketra’s N3 satellite provides several vital system functions: control of luminaires,
integration of third party control and lighting products, and on-board memory and
astronomical time clock functionality. The N3’s wireless connectivity enables its
installation in multiple, convenient locations.

Pre-Installation
Turn OFF electrical power to all circuit breakers feeding into the panel before installing
or servicing this product.
Improper use or installation can cause SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH, OR LOSS/DAMAGE
OF PROPERTY.
This device should be protected by a 20 A circuit breaker.
This device includes a two-way radio. For optimal performance and signal integrity:
• Do not install in third-party metal enclosures
• Use non-metal enclosures (e.g. plastic, fiberglass or PVC)
Product is plenum-rated for non-air-handling spaces.
Product is direct-insulation contact rated.
If placed in enclosure alongside other electrical components, take necessary precautions regarding
operating temperatures.
Product is UL surface-mount listed. Does not require a dedicated enclosure.
This product contains both class 1 and class 2 electrical connections. The sections are physically
separated by a barrier. MAINTAIN PHYSICAL SEPARATION BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF DEVICE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ELECTRICAL CODES.
This device must be installed by a licensed electrician in accordance with all national and local codes.

PREINSTALLATION
Pre-Installation Instructions
This product has numerous capabilities and functions. Not all uses will apply to each specific application.
WIRELESS NETWORK
• Product needs to be within range of Ketra’s controls. For more information, please refer to the
installation guides for our controls products.
• Avoid metal obstructions.
• Walls may impact communication depending upon construction method and materials.
• Must be mounted at least 6 ft (1.8 m) away from wireless interference sources like microwaves,
Wireless Access Points (WAPs) etc.
CONTROL CONNECTIONS
Distance limitations for each control topology should be taken into consideration.
• DMX: 1800 ft (548 m) maximum.
• 010: 50 ft (15.2 m) maximum total, depending on wire gauge.
• Contact Closure: 50 ft (15.2 m) maximum total, depending on wire gauge.
• 24 Volt: 50 ft (15.2 m) maximum total, depending on wire gauge.

Installation

Before Physical Mounting
Note the serial number and product location; this information will be useful later in the installation.
(The serial number can be found on the top of the control board cover - see fig. 2.)
Product is UL damp location listed (can be used in outdoor locations provided it is protected from direct
water exposure).
Choose a suitable mounting surface and four fasteners that will fit the 0.2 in (5 mm) mounting holes
(e.g. #8 countersunk head, #9 countersunk head).
This product has a suggested clearance to ensure access to all connections and all analog user interface
switches (see fig. 3).

Physical Mounting
1. Remove the lid. Note that screws are captive and need not be fully removed from lid (see fig. 4).
2. Remove plastic plugs from knock-outs as required (see fig. 5).
3. Mount box to surface with appropriate fasteners. Note: inner diameter of hole is ⁄ in (4.76 mm)
(see fig. 6).

INSTALLATION
Installation
DO NOT CONNECT AC SUPPLY TO TERMINALS MARKED “TRIAC CONTROL.”
Triac Control feature is not supported.
STEP 1
Connect AC supply
Use conduit or NM type cable as appropriate.
Note: Acceptable wire is both solid core and stranded. Gauge range is 2.59 Ø[mm]/5.26 Ø[mm] -
1.29 Ø[mm]/1.31 Ø[mm].
1. Open appropriate terminals by flipping orange levers into UP position (see fig. 7). Make connections to
the “AC Mains In” section connecting to appropriate line, neutral and ground terminals.
Note: Wire strip length is 0.47 in (12 mm).
2. Insert appropriate conductors from Mains Power (see fig. 8).
Black conductor goes to “L” terminal (Black).
White conductor goes to “N” terminal (White).
Green conductor goes to “ ” terminal (Green).
Note: Conductor colors are not always as listed. These colors vary depending on your wiring setup.
To ensure the correct wiring, consult a professional electrician.

STEP 2
Connect power and signal output to linear luminaires.
Note: Details on G2 linear connections available in G2 Installation Guide.
1. Open appropriate terminals by flipping orange levers into UP position (see fig. 10).
2. Make connections to the “Power and Signal OUT” section connecting to appropriate line, neutral and
ground terminals.
Note: Details on connections with the linear product family available in their respective installation guides.
3. Insert appropriate conductors from leader cable (see fig. 9):
Black conductor goes to “L” terminal (Black).
White conductor goes to “N” terminal (White).
Green conductor goes to “ ” terminal (Green).
Red/Purple conductor goes to the “S” terminal (Purple).

Overview of Third-Party Controls (KetraNet systems only)
The class 2 control input/output compartment enables interface with numerous devices. Choose the
appropriate terminals based upon your application.
Sections include:
Analog I/O
This section contains four ports. Each port can be configured independently to be any of the following
control types. Refer to applicable protocol wiring diagrams.
• Contact closure input
• Contact closure output
• 010 V input
• 010 V output
• 024 V input
DMX
“DMX Out” can be configured to operate as a stand-alone DMX universe of control. Refer to applicable
protocol wiring diagrams.
CONNECT THIRDPARTY CONTROLS
1. Use conduit or NM type cable as appropriate.
Note: Acceptable wire is both solid core and stranded. Gauge range is 1.29 Ø[mm]/1.31 Ø[mm] -
0.511 Ø[mm]/0.205 Ø[mm]).
2. Open appropriate terminals by depressing appropriate terminal buttons.
3. Make connections to the appropriate ports.
Note: Wire strip length is 0.350.39 in (910 mm).
Refer to applicable protocol wiring diagrams.
VERIFY SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION
1. Apply power to circuit.
2. Green “Power” LED will illuminate indicating successful installation and product functionality.
3. Optional: If data is present at any control port, appropriate LED will indicate status.
4. Disconnect power and install cover.
5. Restore power and configure device using Ketra Design Studio Software.
6. For software download and updates, visit www.ketra.com.

Présentation du produit
Le satellite N3 de Ketra fournit plusieurs fonctions système essentielles: contrôle
des luminaires, intégration de produits de contrôle et d’éclairage tiers, ainsi que des
fonctionnalités de mémoire embarquée et d’horloge astronomique. La connectivité
sans fil du N3 permet son installation dans plusieurs endroits pratiques.

Pré-installation
Coupez l’alimentation électrique de tous les disjoncteurs entrant dans le panneau avant d’installer ou
de réparer ce produit.
Une utilisation ou une installation inappropriée peut provoquer des BLESSURES GRAVES, LA MORT
OU DES PERTES OU DES DOMMAGES MATÉRIELS.
Cet appareil doit être protégé par un disjoncteur de 20A.
Cet appareil comprend une radio bidirectionnelle. Pour des performances et une intégrité du
signal optimales:
• Ne pas installer dans des boîtiers métalliques tiers
• Utilisez des boîtiers non métalliques (p. ex., plastique, fibre de verre ou PVC)
Le produit est classé plénum pour les espaces sans traitement d’air.
Le produit est à contact isolant direct.
S’il est placé dans un boîtier à côté d’autres composants électriques, prenez les précautions nécessaires
concernant les températures de fonctionnement.
Le produit est homologué UL pour être monté en surface. Ne nécessite pas de boîtier dédié.
Ce produit contient des connexions électriques de classe1 et de classe2 Les sections sont séparées

• Les murs peuvent avoir un impact sur la communication en fonction de la méthode de construction et
des matériaux.
• Doit être monté à au moins 1,8m (6pi) des sources d’interférences sans fil comme les micro-ondes,
les points d’accès sans fil (WAP), etc.
CONNEXIONS DE COMMANDE
Les limitations de distance pour chaque topologie de commande doivent être prises en compte.
• DMX: 548m (1800pi) maximum.
• 010: Total de 15,2m (50pi) maximum, selon le calibre du fil.
