Double-Turn Unlocks All*
Unlock all doors and rear hatch by turning the key toward the rear of the
vehicle twice within 3 seconds. Turn toward the front of the vehicle once
to relock all doors.
Key Fob/Remote Keyless Entry*

NOTE: If doors are not opened, they will automatically relock after 30 seconds.

Fuel Cap/Check Engine Light
Tighten cap at least 3 clicks or more, otherwise the ‘Check Engine’
light in the instrument cluster may illuminate, requiring you to securely
tighten the cap.

this button to lock all doors, press the rear portion to unlock all doors.

– Check Fuel Cap: The fuel cap is not fully tightened.
– Low Washer Fluid: The washer fluid tank is nearly empty.
– Door Ajar: One of the doors is not fully closed.
– Safety Belt Warning: Driver’s safety belt is not fastened.
– High Beam Indicator: High beam lights are on.
– Trunk Lid Open: The trunk lid is not fully closed.
– Charging System Warning: The electrical system is
malfunctioning.
– Parking Brake/Fluid Warning: Fluid
level is low. Parking brake is “ON.”
– O/D Off: The Overdrive System is
disabled by pressing button on shifter.
– Oil Pressure Warning: Indicates low oil pressure.
– Air Bag Warning: Air bag system is malfunctioning.
– Check Engine: May indicate a problem with the
emission system or A/T.
– Low Fuel: There are approximately 1.7 gallons of
fuel remaining.
– ABS Warning: Indicates a potential problem with
the Anti-lock Brake System. Brake lining may
occasionally squeak, that is normal.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
Warning Lights:
The warning lights and indicators alert you to situations that may need attention.
Refer to your Owner’s Manual for more information on the function of all the warning lights.

ATachometer: The tachometer indicates number of engine revolutions per minute.
BEngine Temperature Gauge: This gauge shows the temperature of the engine coolant. If the needle
nears the “H” position on the gauge, it indicates
an overheating engine. Do not drive your
vehicle in this condition.
CTurn Signal Indicators: The indicators
will illuminate when the turn signal
control is engaged.
DShift Pattern Indicator:
Indicates shift lever selection.
(Automatic Transaxle only).
EOdometer: The odometer indicates the
total distance the vehicle has been driven.
FSpeedometer: Indicates speed of vehicle.
GFuel Gauge: Displays approximate amount of fuel
remaining in the vehicle.
HTripmeter: The tripmeter can record individual trip
distances for up to two different trips (A or B). The
tripmeter button (located to the left of the steering
wheel column) will reset the meter to “0” if pressed
longer than one second.

Instrument Panel Dimmer
The Instrument Panel Dimmer
A
is located to the left of the steering
column. When the parking lights or headlights are on, rotate the
control knob to adjust the instrument panel display brightness to the
desired level.
Fog Lights*
To turn the fog lights on, press the fog light button

with the
headlights on.
To turn off, press the button again. Use the fog lights
for improved visibility in inclement weather.

Light Control: Turn the knob at the end of the control stalk to the
desired position:
OFF –Exterior lights off
–Parking lights on

High Beams:
Push the control stalk away from you. Pull it back to
revert to low beams.
Turn Signals: Move stalk control up to signal a right turn, or down
to signal a left turn.

the time displayed by one hour.
MINUTE: Press “M” to advance the time displayed by one minute, or
hold to rapidly advance.
RESET: Press “R” to clear away minutes and set to the nearest hour.
Parking Stub Holder
Use to hold parking stubs and toll stubs in an easily accessible spot.
Rear Window Defroster
With the engine running, press to whisk away condensation, snow and
ice from the rear window. The defroster automatically turns off after 20
minutes or at engine shut-off.

Plays 5 seconds of each station in radio mode,
first 10 seconds of each track in CD mode.

Press to turn the system On or Off, rotate the
knob clockwise to increase or counterclockwise
to decrease the volume.

Press / for the next highest/lowest channel
in radio mode or for the next/previous track in CD
mode.

Press once to repeat playback on the current
track or hold to repeat playback in CD mode.

Press for randomized selection of tracks within
the CD in CD mode.

Press and hold the corresponding preset button
(1-6) until you hear an audible beep to store a
station in memory.

through the current track.

or counterclockwise to decrease the frequency. To
adjust the audio controls (BASS, TREBLE, etc.),

CENTER PANEL CONTROLS
Manual system functions to operate defrost:
1. When defrost mode is selected A/C is operational,
fresh air vent is open, although A/C lamp is off.
2. Set fan speed 2
to maximum.
3. Set temperature 1
to hot.
4. Select the Defrost .
NOTE: When defrost is selected, outside fresh air and
air conditioning are activated automatically, this will further
reduce window fogging.

cool A/C operation. To eliminate this effect

Set switch to OFF position to keep map/dome light
off, or set to ON position to keep map/dome light on.
In the DOOR position, dome light will come on when
a door is opened and go off when all doors are shut.

Adjusting the Seat Forward and Backward:
1. Pull up on the seat slide adjustment lever A
under the seat cushion and hold it.
2. Slide the seat until the desired position is
attained.

1. Set the front seatbacks to the
upright position and slide the
front seats forward.
2. Lower the rear seat headrests
to the lowest position.
3. Insert the key into the rear
center seatbelt web release

60/40-Split Folding Rear Seat*
Folding the Rear Seat (5-door):
1. Set the front seatbacks to the
upright position and slide the
front seats forward.
2. Pull up on the cushion retaining
strap Jlocated underneath the
rear seat cushion.
3. Lift the front of the seat cushion.
4. Lift the rear of the seat cushion
and pull it forward firmly into
place.
5. Remove the rear headrests.
6. Pull up on the lock release
lever Klocated at the top of the
rear seatback.
7. Fold the seatback forward and
down firmly.
Unfolding the Rear Seat (5-door):
1. Make sure the rear center
shoulder belt is clear of the
seatback.
2. Lift the seatback up and firmly
lock it into place.
3. Reinsert the headrests into the
rear seatbacks.
4. Push the rear seat cushion
toward the rear of the vehicle
and down firmly
5. Return the rear seat belts to their
proper positions.

Passenger Air Bag Off
If there is no passenger or the adult passenger is small or out of
position, the front PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator may turn ON.
When this indicator is ON, the front passenger’s air bag will not operate.
Please refer to your Owner’s Manual and the separate brochure
entitled “Your Safety is Important to Kia” for more detailed
information regarding your vehicle’s air bags.
WARNING: Always properly restrain children in the rear seat of
your vehicle. Seat covers must NOT be used because they can
affect how the system operates.
Child Safety Locks
Located on the rear edge of the door, push the child safety lock to
the “lock” position to disable the inner door handles from opening
the rear doors. WARNING: To prevent a child from opening rear
doors from the inside, rear door safety locks should be activated
whenever children are in the vehicle.
