VM-ELEC Chassis Electronics
Assembly Installation Sheet
Description
The VM-ELEC Chassis Electronics Assembly provides the mounting,
internal power, and audio and data distribution for the VM-CPU main
board, user interface, and supporting cards.
Installation
WARNING: Electrocution hazard. To avoid personal injury or death
from electrocution, remove all sources of power and allow stored
energy to discharge before installing or removing equipment.
Caution: Circuit boards are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD).
To avoid damage, follow ESD handling procedures.
Note: Install the PS10-4B power supply board and any cabinet
backbox-mounted options before installing the VM-ELEC.
To install the VM-ELEC:
1. Connect one end of the data ribbon cable to J17 on the VM-CPU.
Refer to Figure 2 for the VM-CPU location on the assembly.
Refer to the VM-CPU Main Board Installation Sheet (P/N 3101798-
EN) received in the instruction sheet bag with the VM-ELEC for
additional information.
2. Connect one end of the power supply cable to J15 on the
VM-CPU.
3. Connect the other end of the data ribbon cable to J1 on the
PS10-4B. See Figure 1.
Refer to the PS10-4B Power Supply Board Installation Sheet
(P/N 3101774-EN) received with the board for additional
information.
4. Connect the other end of the power supply cable to J2 on the
PS10-4B.
5. Attach the VM-ELEC to the four screws on the backbox using the
hardware provided. See Figure 1.
Wiring
Connect VM-CPU field wiring as described on the VM-CPU Main
Board Installation Sheet (P/N 3101798-EN).
Maintain 0.25 in. (6 mm) separation between power-limited and
nonpower-limited wiring at all times. Keep nonpower-limited wiring in
the shaded area shown in Figure 3. Secure the wiring to the cabinet
using nylon cable ties.
