Congratulations on purchasing the KIRK DELTA S1/TRIO
Please study the user guide carefully to gain familiarity with you new telephone.
The latest advanced technology has been utilized in DELTA’s design so that it’s
performance exceeds all norms for a standard telephone. For this reason, you will
need to become familiar with it’s features and operation to make the best use of the
instrument.
Practice using the different functions while reading the guide and you will soon
realize that the DELTA is an efficient and friendly creation, allowing both easier and
quicker use of the telephone.
Note! Some of the functions marked with * require to be supported by the network
on a subscription base.

KIRK DELTA S1 / TRIO is approved according to according to EU directive 1999/5/EC on radio
equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment and the mutual recognition of their
conformity. The CE-labelling only states conformity with directive 73/23/EEC relating to electrical
equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits and directive 89/336/EEC relating to
electromagnetic compatibility.

1.1 Batteries
To use all the functions in the DELTA telephone you have to insert the enclosed
batteries of the type LR06 (AA).
When it is time to change the batteries, the - symbol in the display is turned on.
During normal use the last for about 1 år.
To ensure that the settings will remain in the subset during change of battery it is
necessary to put the subset into a stop mode.
1. Remove the telephone from the line.
2. Press the - key.
3. Press the *- key. The - symbol in the display is turned on.
4. Press the - key, the display show -------- and the subset enter
stop mode.
5. Now you have approximately 30 seconds to change the batteries.
6. Press and hold the - key for 3 seconds until the display shows
the clock.
7. Reprogram the clock, see chapter 1.4.
Warning! The telephone has to be disconnected from the telephone line before the
battery cover is removed.
Note! Do not dispose of batteries with normal household trash. They must be
disposed of in accordance with applicable waste disposal regulations.
1.2 Installation
1. Insert the batteries as showed on the figure.
2. Connect the coiled cord from the handset to the lower connector on
the left side of the telephone. When the connector is properly fixed
you will hear a click sound.
3. Connect the line cord to the upper connector on the left side of the
telephone. When the connector is properly fixed you will hear a
click sound.
4. Inset the other end of the line cord into the wall plug.
5. Remove the handset from the cradle. If you can hear the dial tone
the subset is ready for use else please look into chapter 8;
Troubleshooting.

1.3 Programming of tone ringer
In the box beside the handset there is a switch where it is possible to set the tone
ringer to two different melodies, two different levels or to turn the tone ringer off.
Switch no. 3:

1.4 Date and time
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on.
3. Use the - key and the - key to set the hour.
4. Press the - key to confirm the selection and change to set
minute.
5. Use the - key and the - key to set the minutes.
6. Press the - key to confirm the selection and change to set date.
7. Use the - key and the - key to set the date.
8. Press the - key to confirm the selection and change to set
month.
9. Use the - key and the - key to set the month.
10. Press the - key to store the time. The - symbol in the display
is turned off.

2 User guide
2.1 Call from the subset
2.1.1 Ordinary dialled call
1. Remove the handset from the cradle and wait for dial tone.
2. Dial the number. The number will be showed in the display.
Or
1. Press and release the - key and wait for dial tone. The -
symbol in the display will turn on.
2. Dial the number. The number will be showed in the display.
3. Remove the handset from the cradle to have the conversation. The
- symbol in the display is turned off.
2.1.2 On-hook dialling
1. Type the number that has to be dialled. It is possible to delete digits
with the - key.
2. Remove the handset from the cradle and the number will be dialled
after a pause.
2.1.3 Last number redial
The subset automaticaly store the last dialled number.
1. Remove the handset from the cradle or press and release the -
key. Wait for the dial tone.
2. Press the - key and the last dialled number is showed in the
display and dialled immediately.
Or
1. Press the - key and the last dialled number is showed in the
display.
2. Remove the handset from the cradle or press and release the -
key. The number will be dialled after a pause.

2.1.4 Call from direct memory
See also chapter 6.1; Quick dial.
1. Remove the handset from the cradle or press and release the -
key. Wait for dial tone.
2. Press the memory key M0 - M9 or VIP, the number is showed in
the display and dialled immediately.
Or if quick dial is disabled
1. Press the memory key M0 - M9 or VIP, the number is showed in
the display.
2. Remove the handset from the cradle or press and release the -
key. The number will be dialled after a pause.
Or if quick dial is enabled
1. Press the memory key M0 - M9 or VIP, the number is showed in
the display. The subset goes off hook in hands free mode and the
number is dialled after a pause. The - symbol in the display will
turn on.
2. Remove the handset from the cradle to have the conversation. The
- symbol in the display is turned off.
2.1.5 Call from Caller ID list
See also chapter 4; Caller ID.
1. Press the
LIST
- key and the last received number is showed in the
display.
2. Use the - key and the - key to find the number in the list
which has to be dialled.
3. Remove the handset from the cradle or press and release the -
key. The number will be dialled after a pause.
2.2 Receiving a call
See also chapter 4; Caller ID.
Remove the handset from the cradle to answer the call.
2.3 During conversation
2.3.1 Listening in
It is possible to follow the conversation on the loudspeaker. Pres son the - key
during conversation and the loudspeaker is active. The - symbol in the display is
turned on.

2.3.2 Volume regulation
The received signal in the handset and the loudspeaker can be regulated by means
of the wheel in front of the subset. The level of the received signal will remain until
next time the wheel is moved.
2.3.3 Microphone mute
1. Press the - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on and
the microphone is disabled.
2. Press the - key again, the - symbol in the display is turned off
and the microphone is enabled.
2.3.4 Flash
If the telephone is located behind a PABX, the R- key is used to forward a call to
another number behind the PABX, see the user guide for the exchange. If the
telephone is located on a normal public line, the R- key is used for different
services.
2.3.5 Call Waiting*
Note! This function will only be available if you have a subscription for it.
During conversation you will receive a Call Waiting tone.
See the number who is calling
1. Press the LIST - key.
The conversation is interrupted shortly and the number is showed in the display.
You can now decide what to do with the new call:
Reject the new call
1. Press the R- key and wait for dialtone.
2. Press the 0- key and the waiting call will receive a busy tone.
Finish the existing call and answer the new call
1. Press the R- key and wait for dialtone.
2. Press the 1- key to get the new call.
Put the existing call on hold and answer the new call
1. Press the R- key and wait for dialtone.
2. Press the 2- key to get the new call.
3. It is possible to change between the two conversations by pressing
the R- key, wait for the dialtone and then press the 2- key.

2.4 To end a conversation
Replace the handset on the cradle to end the conversation.
2.4.1 Length of the conversation
During the conversation the length is showed in the display as minutes-seconds. If
the R- key is used the conversation length will be reset.
After end of the conversation the length of the call is showed in 10 seconds.

3 Direct memory
The subset has 11 direct memories. Each memory has max. 21 digits. The
corresponding names can be written on the index card located under the front
cover.
3.1 Programming the direct memory
By pressing the - key it is possible to store a 2 second pause. The pause is
showed as P in the display.
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the memory key M0 - M9 or VIP. The - symbol in the
display is turned on.
3. Type the number that has to be stored. Press the - key to
delete digits.
4. Press the - key to store the number. The - symbol in the
display is turned off.
3.2 Erasing a number in the direct memory
1. Press the memory key M0 - M9 or VIP that has to be erased. The
number is showed in the display.
2. Press the - key and the memory is erased.

4 Caller ID*
Note! This function will only be available if you have a subscription for it.
When the subset receives a call, the calling number will be showed in the display.
If the caller’s number is not transmitted, the display can show:
-InFo is showed if the number is restricted
-nr is showed if the number was unknown
UdLand is showed if the number is an international call
Error is showed if the data from the exchange is corrupted for any reason
The showed number / code is immediately stored in the Caller ID memory.
4.1 Caller ID memory
The subset can store the last 30 received calls. When the Caller ID memory is full,
the new data will replace the oldest record. If the same Caller ID number is received
again, the old record will be removed and the total call counter is unchanged. The
call counter is incremented. The call is stored with the newest date and time. When
new calls are stored, the LED is flashing until the Caller ID stack have been viewed.
1. Press the LIST - key and the last received number is showed in the
display.
2. Use the - key and the - key to look through the list.
3. Use the - key to change between showing number and showing
date, time and number of repeated call.
4. Press the LIST - key to return to idle state.

4.2 Erase a number in the Caller ID memory
1. Press the LIST - key and the last received number is showed in the
display.
2. Use the - key and the - key to find the number in the list
which has to be deleted.
3. Press the - key two times to delete the entry. The subset goes
to idle state.
4.3 Erase all memory locations
1. Press the LIST - key and the last received number is showed in the
display.
2. Press and hold the - key until the display shows “C-A”.
3. Press the - key to delete all numbers in the list. The subset
goes to idle state.

5 Message waiting*
Note! This function will only be available if you have a subscription for it.
If the message waiting signal is received from the local exchange, the - symbol
in the display is turned on. When you have heard the message on the local
exchange and the subset has received the message waiting disable signal, the -
symbol in the display is turned off. When the - symbol is turn on the LED is
flashing.
The - symbol is controlled by the local exchange. If the status do not match it is
possible to change it.
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the 3 - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on and
the - symbol change status.
3. Press the - key to store the new status of the - symbol. The
- symbol in the display is turned off.

5.1 Speciel services (only for DELTA TRIO)
KIRK DELTA TRIO can be programmed for easy use of Tele Danmark
SpecielServices. The subset can be programmed to be three different kinds of
telephones.
Telephone for SpecielService
Four memory keys are pre-programmed:
M0: Call Forwarding ON / OFF
M1: Call Waiting ON / OFF
M2: Call Barring ON / OFF
M3: Message listen in
M4-M9: Used as normal memory keys
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the 7 - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on.
3. Press the - key to program M0 - M3. The - symbol in the
display is turned off.
Locate the correct numberlabel marked with EkstraServices over the memory keys.
Telephone for Duét service
Four memory keys are pre-programmed:
M0: DuétService
M1: Call Waiting ON / OFF
M2: Call Barring ON / OFF
M3: Message listen in
M4-M9: Used as normal memory keys
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the 8 - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on.
3. Press the - key to program M0 - M3. The - symbol in the
display is turned off.
Locate the correct numberlabel marked with Duét over the memory keys.
Telephone for Normal use
There is no speciel programming. Default setting is telephone for normal
use.

5.1.1 Message waiting (only for DELTA TRIO)
See also chapter 5 Message Waiting.
If the telephone is pre-programmed for EkstraServices or DuétServices you just
have to press the “Aflyt besked” key to listen to the message. It is not possible to
use this function if the telephone is located behind an ISDN a/b adapter or NTab.
5.1.2 Call waiting (only for DELTA TRIO)
See also chapter 2.3.5 Call Waiting
To use the easy way of Call Waiting the memory keys has to be programmed for
EkstraService or Duet services.
Enable Call Waiting:
1. Press the Banke-På - key. The - symbol in the display is turned
on. The display show *43# and the number is dialled after a pause.
2. Wait until a voice say “the order is registered”.
3. Press and release the - key to go on-hook.
Disable Call Waiting:
1. Press the Banke-På - key. The - symbol in the display is turned
off. The display show #43# and the number is dialled after a pause.
2. Wait until a voice say “the order is registered”.
3. Press and release the - key to go on-hook.
If the status of the - symbol in the display do not match the actual status on the
local exchange, it is possible to change the status of the symbol.
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the 5 - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on and
the - symbol change status.
3. Press the - key to store the new status of the - symbol. The
- symbol in the display is turned off.

5.1.3 Call forwarding (only for DELTA TRIO)
To use the easy way of Call Forwarding the memory keys has to be programmed
for EkstraService or DuetServices.
Enable Call Forwarding when TsS services are programmed:
1. Press the Viderestilling - key. The display show *21* and the
number is dialled after a pause.
2. Type the number which has to be forwarded to and type the # -
key. The number can be a memory key. The - symbol in the
display is turned on.
3. Wait until a voice say “the order is registered”.
4. Press and release the - key to go on-hook.
Enable Call Forwarding when Duet services are programmed:
1. Press the Viderestilling - key. The display show #21#. The -
symbol in the display is turned off and the number is dialled after a
pause.
2. Wait until a voice say “the order is registered”.
4. Press and release the - key to go on-hook.
If the status of the - symbol in the display do not match the actual status on the
local exchange, it is possible to change the status of the symbol.

5.1.4 Call barring
To use the easy way of Call Barring the memory keys has to be programmed for
EkstraServices or DuetServices.
Enable Call Barring:
1. Press the Spærring - key. The display show *33* and the number
is dialled after a pause.
2. Type you PIN code and type the # - key. The - symbol in the
display is turned on.
3. Wait until a voice say “the order is registered”.
4. Press and release the - key to go on-hook.
Disable Call Barring:
1. Press the Spærring - key. The display show #33* and the number
is dialled after a pause.
2. Type you PIN code and type the # - key. The - symbol in the
display is turned off.
3. Wait until a voice say “the order is registered”.
4. Press and release the - key to go on-hook.
If the status of the - symbol in the display do not match the actual status on the
local exchange, it is possible to change the status of the symbol.
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the 6 - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on and
the - symbol change status.
3. Press the - key to store the new status of the - symbol. The
- symbol in the display is turned off.

6 Settings of the subset
6.1 Quick dial
Quick dial is an automatical call function. When quick dial is enabled and you press
on a memory key, the subset goes offhook and the number is dialled. When quick
dial is disabled, the number is showed in the display when you press on a memory
key.
Enabling and disabling of quick dial:
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the 2 - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on.
3. Press the - key to store the new entry. The - symbol in the
display is turned off.
6.2 PABX side tone
By means of the switch in the box beside the handset, it is possible to change
between two different side tone networks. Normally the switch no. 1 has to be in
position ON and switch no. 2 has to be in position OFF, but if you can hear you own
voice very loud in the handset we recommend you to change the position of switch
no. 1 to OFF and the position of switch no. 2 to ON.
6.3 Display contrast
It is possible to change the contrast of the display to optimize it according to
location where the telephone is placed.
1. Press the - key.
2. Press the 0 - key. The - symbol in the display is turned on.
3. Use the - key and the - key to set the display contrast.
4. Press the - key to store the new entry. The - symbol in the
display is turned off.
