BATTERYSAFETYINSTRUCTIONS

1.Use only thefollowing type and sizeof batteries: 4size “AA”alkaline batteries (not
included).
2.Do not dispose of the batteries into afire. The cells may explode. Checkwith local
codesforpossiblespecial disposal instructions.
3.Do not openor mutilatethebatteries. Releasedelectrolyteis corrosiveandmaycause
damageto the eyesor skin.Itmaybe toxic ifswallowed.
4.Exercise care in handling batteries inordernotto shortthebattery with conducting
materialssuchas rings,braceletsand keys.The battery orconductor may over heat
and cause burns.
5.Do not attempt to recharge the batteriesthat areused with thisproduct.Thebatteries
mayleakcorrosive electrolyte or explode.
6.Do not attempt to rejuvenatethebatteries identified for use with thisproductby heating
them. Sudden release ofthebatteryelectrolytemaycause burnsorirritation to eyes or
skin.
7.Allbatteries should bereplaced atthesame time.Mixing freshanddischargedbatteries
couldincreaseinternal cellpressureandrupture thebatteries.
8.When insertingbatteriesinto this product,the properpolarity or directionmust be
observed. Reverse insertionofbatteries may result inleakageor explosion.
9.Removethebatteries from thisproductif the product willnotbe usedforalong period
of time(severalmonthsor more)since during this timethebatteries couldleak, damaging
the product.
10.Discardweak ordead batteriesas soonas possiblesince they are morelikely to leakin
theproduct.Batteriesshould bereplaced when thedisplaygetsdim orif theLow
Battery Indicatorappearsin thedisplay.
11.Do notstore thisproductin hightemperature areas.Batteriesthatarestoredin a
freezerorrefrigeratorforthepurposeofextending shelflifeshouldbe protectedfrom
condensationduring storage and defrosting. Batteries should bestabilized at room
temperaturepriorto use after cold storage.
12.If thisproductdoesnotoperatenormally,see TROUBLE SHOOTING on pages15 and
16. If youcannot resolvethe problem, orif the product is damaged, referto the
LENOXXWARRANTYINFORMATION on the last page. Opening or removing covers
mayexposeyoutodangerousvoltagesor otherrisks.Incorrect reassemblycan

INSTALLINGTHE BATTERIES (IfnoACadaptorisused)
Beforeyouconnectthephone cords,youmust install the batteriesby followingthesteps below:
1.Insert aflat blade screwdriveror coin likeaquarterinto the slot andpryout (lift) the
batterydoor(FIG. 1).
2.Insert 4size “AA”alkalinebatteries asshown insidethebatterycompartment, the “–” side
of the battery touches the spring(FIG. 2).
CAUTION
Replacethebatteries whenthelowbatteryicon
LOW
flashesinthedisplay.Becausewhen
thebatteries are dead and the AC adaptor isnotconnected, the phonewill not work
properlyandyour dataand settingscould beerased.

1. Touse the two lineand conference callfunctions,you needto use the suppliedAC
adaptor(9VACoutput).Inserttheadaptor ssmallconnector plug intotheAC 9V jack on
therearofthephone, and plugtheadaptorintoanywall outletthat isnotshut off bya
light switch.
2.Connectthehandsetcoiled cordto the handset and the handset jack on the left sideof
the phone.
CAUTION:
•Topreventelectricshock,donotusetheACAdaptor with anextension cordoroutlet,
unlessit can be fullyinsertedwithout exposing any part of the blades.
•Onlyuse the supplied ACadaptor.
•Duringapowerfailure,theunit will workas astandard telephoneon the line1, but the
callerID,speakerphone, line indicator,hold,LCD displayfeatureswill not work,unless the
batteries are installed. Line 2isnotavailable.
•If youdid not install thebatteries, the lowbattery icon
LOW
will flash in the display,to
preventthedata and settings missing during the powerfailure,werecommend you also
install thebatteries when you use the AC adaptor.

USINGTHE OTHER LINEDURINGACONVERSATION
During aconversation, if another line indicatorflashesandyouhearaclick, anincoming call
is beingreceived ontheline, you can answer the secondcallwhile holding the firstcall. You
canalsomake acall without terminalingthefirst call. Ifyousubscribe acaller ID service, the
second caller sinformationwillbedisplayed when acall isbeing receivedon the otherline.
1.Press the HOLDbutton toputthefirst call(LINE1)on hold,theLINE 1indicator flashes.
2.Presstheanotherline button(LINE 2)toanswer or makeasecondcall, the LINE 2
indicatorlightsup.
3.Toreturn to the firstcall(LINE 1), presstheline button(LINE 1) for the firstcall.
NOTE: Ifyouwanttohold thesecondcall, pleasepress the HOLDbutton before pressing
theLINE buttonof the firstcall.
CONFERENCE CALL
During aconversation, you can answer or make asecond call onthe otherline andthen
combinebothcalls togetherto makeaconferencecall.
1.Press the HOLDbutton toputthefirst call(LINE1)on hold,theLINE 1indicator flashes.
2.Presstheanotherline button(LINE 2)toanswer or makeasecondcall, the LINE 2
indicatorlightsup.
3.Whenthesecondcallisconnected, presstheCONFERENCEbutton to starttheconference
call, both indicatorslight up.
NOTE:

hearaclick, presstheFLASH buttononyourtelephone,youwillputonhold theparty you

MUTEFUNCTION
During conversation,ifyoupress and hold the MUTE button, you can hearthesound from the

Thistelephone has aCallerID feature and if you subscribeto CallerIDservice, the Caller s
telephone number(if available),Name (if your callerID serviceincludes), Time,Date, and
calledline will bedisplayed betweenthefirstandsecondring ofthephone.Thephone
stores the dataof the last80 callsreceived including “UNAVAILABLECALL”and “PRIVATE
CALL”.It keepstrack of all callsreceived, even if they werenotanswered.
VIEWING THE CALLERIDLIST
Youcanlookthroughthedata (calls) in theCallerID listto checkthenumbersandnames
of the callsreceived.
1.Press the DOWN button toviewyour callsfrom the newestcall.
2.Press the UPbuttonto viewcalls from the oldercalls to newerones.

- Thecallis “blocked”.For privacy reasons,manystates allowcallerstheoptionto prevent
hisor her telephonedata from beingdisplayed in the otherparty sCaller ID display.
Thedisplaywill show “PRIVATECALL”.
- You have picked up the phone before the secondring.
- If thecall isfrom an office which uses multiple lines, thedisplayedphone number
maynotmatch the number you use tocall that extension.
DELETINGDATAFROMTHECALLERIDLIST
Todelete the Caller IDmemoryonebyone
1.DisplaytheCaller sID youwanttodelete (by pressing UP orDOWN button).
2.Press the DELETEbutton,thedisplaywill show “DELETE CALL?”,presstheDELETEbutton
oncemore, the display changes to show the nextor previouscall, and the data is deleted.
Todelete ALL theCaller IDmemories
1.When the phoneis not in use (the phoneisin normal standby mode),press the DELETE
button and hold for 3seconds, the display shows “DELETE ALL?”
2.Press theDELETEbutton once more, thedisplay changesto “NO CALLS”and all the
Caller ID memories are deleted.
USING MESSAGE WAITING/MAILBOX
Touse the Message Waiting indication feature, you must subscribetothis serviceifavail-
able fromyourlocal telephonecompany.
