5. Operating Principle
KOBOLD magnetic filters are used in many applications, including central system
filters, where it is necessary to protect devices from dirt and contamination. They
are used to catch and remove contaminants from industrial cooling and
lubrication circuits, especially where residue and sediment from assembly (such
as chips from thread-cutting) and normal operation (such as scale and residue
from frictional wear) can be carried along in the medium being filtered.
Contaminants of these types can form deposits that can cause pitting and
corrosion in highly sensitive measuring and control devices. Regular maintenance
and cleaning of the magnetic filter inserts will effectively prevent system and
device failure and the resulting downtime.
The MFT adapter magnetic filter has an especially big magnetic bar and a
stainless steel filter cartridge. Therefore, it can be used as a central filter for new
small and medium heating systems. Furthermore, this filter is appropriate for such
systems where an especially high magnetite and dirt contents is to be expected.
The standard execution of the MFT adapter magnetic filters is delivered with a
stainless steel filter cartridge (70/197 mm) with a filtering grade of 600 µ. If
desired it can also be supplied with a filter cartridge with a filtering grade of 400 µ
or 800 µ.
6. Mechanical Connection
Before mounting:
Remove all transport safety devices. Observe that there won’t be any parts of
the package in the armature.
Satisfy yourself that the armatures/vales will only be used within their
admissible limiting value (see technical data).
After the mechanical connection check the tightness of the connection screw
connection/tube, if possible.
Horizontal mounting between two closing devices. We recommend a drain device
in the tube which can be blocked. In any case the flowing direction arrow on the
filter must be observed on installation. The flowing water first circulates around
the magnetic bar and then passes – from the inside to the outside – the stainless
steel filter cartridge.
