The computer is built to the highest quality, but it can be damaged. To prevent this occurring,
please follo these suggestions.

kind of heating element. This is an electrical appliance. If ater or any other liquid gets
into it, the computer could be badly damaged.
•Avoid interference. Keep the computer a ay from high capacity transformers, electric
motors and other strong magnetic fields. These can hinder proper performance and
damage your data.
•Follow the proper workin procedures for the computer. Shut the computer do n
properly and don't forget to save your ork. Remember to periodically save your data, as
data may be lost.
Servicin
Do not attempt to service the computer yourself. Doing so may violate your arranty and
expose you and the computer to electric shock. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel via the
Kogan.com customer support team. Unplug the computer from the po er supply, then refer the
customer support team to any of the follo ing conditions:
•When the po er cord or AC/DC adapter is damaged or frayed.
•If the computer has been exposed to any liquids.
•If the computer is not orking normally hen you follo the operating instructions.
•If the computer has been dropped or damaged. (If the LCD panel breaks, DO NOT touch
any liquids that may leak from it)
•If there is an unusual odour, heat or smoke coming from the computer.
Safety Information.
Only use the AC/DC adapter approved for use ith this computer.
Use the po er cord and batteries indicated in this manual. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire
as they may explode. Check ith your local council in regards to battery disposal.
Do not continue to use a battery that has been dropped or that appears damaged (eg bent or
t isted) in any manner. Even if the computer continues to ork ith a damaged battery in
place, it may cause circuit damage hich may result in a fire.
Make sure that your computer is completely po ered off before putting it into a travel bag,
dra er or any other similar container.
Before cleaning the computer, make sure it is disconnected from any external po er supplies,
peripherals and cables (including telephone lines). It is advisable to also remove the battery in
order to avoid accidentally turning the computer on.
Use a soft clean cloth to clean the computer, but do not apply cleaner directly to the computer.
Do not use volatile or abrasive cleaners on any part of the computer.
Do not try to repair the battery pack. Refer any battery pack repair or replacement needs to the
Kogan.com customer support team.
Note that in computer's featuring a raised LCD electro-plated logo, the logo is covered by a
protective adhesive. Due to general ear and tear, this adhesive may deteriorate over time and

the exposed logo may develop sharp edges. Be careful hen handling the computer in this case
and avoid touching the raised LCD electro-plated logo. Avoid placing any items in the carrying
bag hich may rub against the top of the computer during transport.
Polymer Battery Precautions
Note the follo ing information hich is specific to polymer batteries only, and here applicable,
this overrides the general battery precaution information.
•Polymer batteries may experience a slight expansion or s elling. This is part of the
battery's safety mechanism and is not a cause for concern.
•Use proper handling techniques hen using polymer batteries. Do not use polymer
batteries in high ambient temperate environments and do not store unused batteries for
extended periods of time.
Battery Disposal & Caution
This product contains a rechargeable battery. This battery is recyclable. At the end of its useful
life, under various state and local la s, it may be illegal to dispose of the battery using the
general household aste collection system. Check ith your local solid aste officials for details
in your area for recycling options or proper disposal.
There is danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only ith the same or
equivalent type recommended by Kogan.com.
Product Usa e
System Startup
1. Remove all packaging materials.
2. Place the computer on a stable surface.
3. Securely attach any peripherals you ant to use ith the computer (e.g.
keyboard and mouse) to their ports.
4. Attach the AC/DC adapter to DC-In jack on the left of the computer,
then plug the AC po er cord into an outlet. Then connect the AC
po er cord to the AC/DC adapter. (Make sure you use the adapter
hen first setting up the computer, as to safeguard the computer
during shipping, the battery ill be locked to not po er the system
until first connected to the AC/DC adapter).
5. Use one hand to raise the lid/LCD to a comfortable vie ing angle
(do not exceed 130 degrees); use the other hand (as sho n) to
support the base of the computer.
(Note: NEVER lift the computer up by the lid/LCD).
6. Press the po er button to turn the computer on.
System Software
Your computer may already come ith the system soft are pre-installed. Where this is not the
case, or here you are re-configuring your computer for a different system, you ill find that
this manual refers to Microsoft Windows 8.1
Shut Down
You should al ays shut your computer do n by choosing the Shut Do n command to help
prevent hard disk or system problems.
Click Settin s in the Charms Bar (use the Windows Lo o Key + C to access the Charms Bar),
then choose Shut Down from the Power menu.
or
Choose Shut Down or Si n Out > Shut Down from the context menu (use the Windows Lo o
Key + X to access the context menu.

LED Indicators
The LED indicators on the computer display helpful information about the computer status.

Keyboard
The keyboard has a numeric keypad for easy numeric data input. Pressing Fn + Num Lk turns the
numeric keypad on/off.

The function keys (F1 – F11 etc..) ill act as hot keys hen pressed hile the Fn key is held do n.
In addition to the basic function key combinations, some visual indicators are available hen the
hot key driver is installed.

Control Center
The Control Center in
Windows 8.1
orks under the Desktop app and not under the Start
screen. Press the Fn + Esc key combination, or double-click the “ ” icon in the notification area
of the taskbar to toggle the Control Center on/off. The Control Center gives quick access to
frequently used controls and enables you to quickly turn the camera/Touchpad on/off.
Click the Control Center icons to toggle the appropriate function, or hold the mouse button
do n and move the dial control here applicable. Certain functions ill automatically be
adjusted hen a po er mode is selected.
Power Modes
You can set a Po er Mode by clicking the appropriate icon at the top of the Control Center.
Each po er mode ill affect the Po er Conservation Mode, Airplane Mode, Po er Plan and PC
camera po er etc...
You can click a Control Center icon to set an overall po er mode and then click individual icons
in the Control Center to po er on/off the Touchpad and PC camera.

Power Status
The Power Status icon ill sho hether you are currently po ered by the battery, or by the
AC/DC adapter plugged into a orking po er outlet. The po er status bar ill sho the current
battery charge state.
Bri htness
The Bri htness icon ill sho the current screen brightness level. You can use the slider to
adjust the screen brightness or the Fn + F8/F9 key combinations, or the the Fn + F2 key
combination to turn the LED backlight off (and you can press any key to turn it back on again).
Note that screen brightness is also affected by the Power Mode selected.
Volume
The Volume icon ill sho the current volume level. You can use the slider to adjust the volume
or the Fn + F5/F6 key combinations, or use the Fn + F3 key combination to mute the volume.
Power Conservation
This system supports Ener y Star po er management features that place computers (CPU, hard
drive etc..) into a lo -po er sleep mode after a designated period of inactivity. Click either the
Performance, Balanced or Ener y Star button.
Sleep Button
Click either the Hibernate or Sleep button to have the computer enter the selected po er-
saving mode.
Display Switch
Click the Display Switch to access the menu (or use the “ ” + P key combination) and select the
appropriate display mode.
Zone Mode
Clicking the Time Zone button ill access the Date and Time
Windows
control panel.
Desktop Back round
Clicking the Desktop Back round button ill allo you to change the desktop background
picture.
TouchPad/PC Camera
Click either of these buttons to toggle the TouchPad or camera module's po er status. Note
that the po er status of the camera module is also affected by the Power Mode selected.
Windows 8.1
Control Panel
Throughout this manual you ill see an instruction to open the Control Panel. Ri ht-click the
Start Button in the Desktop App or Start screen (or use the Windows Lo o Key + X key
combination) to bring up an advanced context menu of useful features such as the Control
Panel, Programs and Features, Po er Options, Task Manager, Search, File Explorer, Command
Prompt, Device Manager and Net ork Connections, then select Control Panel.

Start Screen & Desktop
The Apps, control panels, utilities and programs ithin
Windows
are accessed from the Start Screen and/or
Windows Desktop app. The Desktop ( hich runs as an
app ithin the Start screen) can be accessed by clicking
the Desktop item in the Start screen (or by using the
Windows Lo o Key + D key combination). The taskbar
is displayed at the bottom of the desktop screen, and you
can see the notification area of the taskbar in the bottom
right of the screen. Click the arro at the bottom of the
Start screen to access the Apps.
Apps & Tiles
The start screen ill contain a number of apps, and many
more ill be installed as you add more applications. Not
all of these apps can fit on one screen so you ill often
need to use the slider at the bottom of the screen in order
to vie all of the necessary apps.
Charms Bar
The right side of the screen displays the Charms Bar.
The Charms Bar contains the Search, Share, Start,
Devices and Settin s menus. To access the Charms
Up, move the cursor to the upper right or lo er right
corners of the screen, then hover the mouse over one
of the items in the Charms Bar to activate it (the bar
ill be black hen active), or use the Windows Lo o
Key + C key combination.

Other Functions
Video Features
The system uses an Intel integrated GPU. You can s itch display devices and configure display
options from the Display control panel in Windo s, as long as the video driver is installed.
To access the Display control panel in Windows
1. Go to the Control Panel.
2. Click Display (icon) – in the Appearances and
Personalisation category.
3. Click Adjust Screen Resolution/Adjust Resolution.
OR
1. Right-click the desktop (use the Windows Lo o Key
+ D key combination to access the desktop), then select
Screen Resolution.
2. Use the dropbox to select the screen resolution (1).
3. Click Advanced Settin s (2).
To access the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel
Click the icon (Intel HD Graphics Control Panel) in the Apps screen.
OR
Right-click the desktop (use the Windows Lo o Key + D key combination to access the
desktop), then select Graphics Properties from the menu.
OR
Click the icon in the notification area of the Desktop taskbar, then select Graphics Properties
from the menu.
Display Devices
Besides the built-in LCD, you can also use an external VGA monitor (CRT)/external Flat Panel
Display or TV (connected to the external monitor port or the HDMI-Out port) as your display
device.
Screen Resolution for Apps (Windows 8.1)
The minimum resolution in hich apps ill run is 1024x768.
The minimum resolution required to support all of the
features of Windo s 8.1 (including multitasking) is 1366x768.
Usin the Windows Lo o Key + P to Switch Displays
You can use the Windows Lo o Key + P Key combination (or Fn + F7) to quickly
change display configuration and modes (this is particularly useful hen attaching
a projector) in
Windows
.
1. Attach your external display to the external monitor/HDMI-Out port and
turn it on.
2. Press Windows Lo o Key + P (or Fn + F7) combination.
3. An on-screen menu ill pop up.
4. Use the cursor keys to select the appropriate configuration from the menu,
then press Enter to confirm the selection.

Power Options
The Power Options (Hardware and Sound menu) control
panel icon in Windo s allo s you to configure po er
management features of your computer. You can conserve
po er by means of power plans and configure the options
for the power button, sleep button, computer lid ( hen
closed), display and sleep modes (the default po er
saving state) from the left menu. Note that the Power
Saver plan may have an effect on computer performance.
Click to select one of the existing plans, or click Create a
Power Plan in the left menu, and select the options to
create a ne plan. Click Chan e Plan Settin s and click
Chan e Advanced Power Settin s to access further
configuration options.
Troubleshootin
Problem Possible Cause - Solution
The Wireless LAN/Bluetooth
modules cannot be detected.
The modules are off as the computer is in
Airplane Mode
.
Check the LED indicator and/or function key indicator to see
if the unit is in Airplane Mode.
Use the Fn + F11 key combination to toggle Airplane Mode
on/off.
The PC Camera module cannot
be detected.
The module is off. Press the Fn + F10 key combination in
order to enable the module. Run the camera application to
vie the camera picture.
The captured video files from the
PC Camera are taking up too
much disk space.
Note that capturing high resolution video files requires a
substantial amount of disk space for each file.
Note that the
Windows
system requires a minimum of 16GB
(32bit) or 20GB (64bit) of free space on the C: drive system
partition. It is recommended that you save the captured files
to a location other than the C:drive, limit the file size of the
captured video or reduce video resolution.
