IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: When using electrical products, basic precautions should always be followed, including the
following:
DANGER: Risk of electric shock. Connect only to a circuit protected by a Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupter
(GFCI)*.

NOTICE: Follow all plumbing, building, and electrical codes. In Canada, install this unit in accordance with the
Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1.
NOTICE: Grounding is required. The unit should be installed and grounded by a qualified service representative.
NOTICE: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified
agent in order to avoid a hazard.
NOTICE: Provide a minimum 6" (152 mm) of air space around the control amplifier to ensure adequate air flow.
Install to permit access for servicing.
*Outside North America, this may be known as a Residual Current Device (RCD).

Before You Begin
IMPORTANT! Due to BLUETOOTH® signal overlap, installations of multiple baths within 50 ft (15.2 m) of each other
will require special order product. Contact your dealer, showroom, or sales representative for ordering assistance.
NOTICE: Provide adequate oor support. Note the model number on the back of the bath, then visit the product page at
kohler.com for more information.
NOTICE: Do not support the load weight of the bath by the rim. Plan to shim under the bath as needed when leveling the
bath.
NOTICE: Verify adequate support if installing a rim- or deck-mount faucet. Large faucets that may be inadvertently used
as a means of support are not safe for this installation.
IMPORTANT! To ensure a successful installation, install the bath on a level oor.
Follow all state and local plumbing, building, and electrical codes.
Unpack and inspect the product for damage. Return the product to the carton until installation.
Read these instructions and determine the locations for all required components before beginning installation.
This bath is designed for drop-in, alcove, under-mount, or island installation.
Determine the location of the control amplier if it will be installed remotely. The control amplier includes a power
supply with a 36" (914 mm) cord and a 25' (7.6 m) cable.
A qualied electrician should install a 120 V, 15 A GFCI or RCD electrical outlet within the stud framing, and within 24"
(610 mm) of the control amplier. The user interface, transducers, and (if equipped) chromatherapy are powered through
connections with the control amplier.
Use conduit to route electrical power wires from the circuit breaker.
This bath will not easily t through doorways. Carefully plan how to move the bath into the installation area.
Install the bath to an adequately supported, level nished oor.
Provide properly dimensioned framing.
The bath basin requires no additional support when the suboor is level and square with the stud framing.
Plan for adequate mounting and connection space for the faucet.
This bath conforms to CSA B45.5/IAPMO Z124.

IMPORTANT! Several included bath components will be powered by the control amplier with 25' (7.6 m) cables. Plan
the location of the control amplier so the cables will reach without being under tension.
For best results, follow the installation sequence below. Detailed instructions are found on the following pages of this
guide.
The illustration above shows a typical installation with the preferred user interface and control amplier locations.
Depending upon your bath, the installation will be similar.
Recommended Installation Sequence
Determine the locations for the bath components. Refer to the illustration for preferred locations.
Determine the location for the access panel required for servicing the control amplier.
NOTICE: Use wood studs to construct the bath frame. Metal framing may adversely aect vibracoustic quality.
Construct the framing for your bath.
Install the rough deck material.
Route the plumbing supply and drain lines for the bath.
Install the bath and drain.
Route the transducer wires to the control amplier location.
Install an electrical outlet within 24" (610 mm) of the control amplier location.
If equipped with chromatherapy, route the chromatherapy cable from the bath to the control amplier location.
Route the user interface cable from the control amplier area to the user interface location.
Install the control amplier.
Connect the transducer, user interface, optional auxiliary device (if used), and chromatherapy cable (if equipped) to
the control amplier.

Finish the walls and deck, and install the required access panel for the control amplier.
Connect the user interface cable to the user interface, and install the user interface.
Plug the control amplier into the electrical outlet.
Test the functionality of all bath components. Refer to the “Homeowners Guide” for operation.

Flooring
Provide adequate support for the bath. Install additional support as needed.
Verify that the suboor is level. Adjust for level as needed.
Framing
CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Do not support the bath by the rim. The bath must be supported by the feet
or base. Plan to shim under the bath as needed when leveling the bath.
IMPORTANT! Several included bath components will be powered by the control amplier with 25' (7.6 m) cables. Plan
the location of the control amplier so the cables will reach without being under tension.
NOTICE: Use wood studs to construct the bath frame. Metal framing may adversely aect vibracoustic quality.
NOTICE: If installing the control amplier between studs, the stud spacing should be 16" (406 mm).
NOTE: The framing illustrated is less the nished wall and deck materials. Allow for the nished wall and deck material
thicknesses when constructing the framing.
Construct the framing, taking into account the thickness of the nished wall and deck materials.
For drop-in installations, provide a 1/16" (2 mm) to 1/8" (3 mm) gap between the framing and the underside of the
bath rim to ensure that the bath is not supported by the rim.
For under-mount installations, provide a 1/16" (2 mm) to 1/8" (3 mm) gap between the framing and the top surface of
the bath rim to ensure that the weight of the framing does not rest on the bath rim.
Construct stud framing or a pocket for the control amplier.
Provide a means to route the user interface cable through the wall to the control amplier.

Plumbing
NOTE: For through-the-oor drain installation, cut a drain hole in the oor to accommodate the drain connections.
Install the rough drain and water supply piping.
Cap the water supplies and check for leaks.
Install the drain to the bath following the drain manufacturer’s instructions. Do not connect the trapway at this time.

2. Install the Bath

IMPORTANT! Fit maximum 1/8" (3 mm) thick spacers under the bath rim to ensure that the rim does not contact the
deck.
Verify that the suboor is level before proceeding. Use shims as needed.
Install the bath using one of the following two methods.

If desired, lay a plastic lm on wood suboors to prevent water absorption.
Spread a 1" (25 mm) to 2" (51 mm) layer of cement or mortar on the suboor.
With help, lift the bath into position. Use caution to avoid damaging components mounted to the bath.
Fit maximum 1/8" (3 mm) thick spacers under the bath rim.
Verify that the bath is level. Reposition or shim as needed.
Place a clean drop cloth in the bath basin to protect the surface.
Apply weight to the bath basin until the mortar sets.
Construction Adhesive Method
Apply a generous amount of construction adhesive to the boom of the support blocks or molded supports.
With help, lift the bath into position. Use caution to avoid damaging components mounted to the bath.
Fit maximum 1/8" (3 mm) thick spacers under the bath rim.
Verify that the bath is level and resting on all supports. Reposition or shim as needed.
Place a clean drop cloth in the bath basin to protect the surface.
Apply weight to the bath basin until the adhesive sets.
Cement or Mortar Bed Method
NOTICE: Do not use gypsum cement or drywall compound, as these materials will not provide a durable bond.

3. Install the Plumbing
CAUTION: Risk of property damage. Leaky drain connections will damage property. Make sure that a watertight
seal exists on all drain connections.
Make the nal drain connections.
Install the faucet valving following the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not install the faucet trim at this time.
Open the hot and cold water supplies.
Check all connections for leaks.
Fill the bath to the overow and check the drain connections for leaks.
