1 Ethernet-Gateway <<N-Port Express DE-311>>
1.1 Introduction
This description refers to the <<N-Port Express DE-311>> Ethernet gateway from <<Moxa Technologies
Ltd>>. Install the program <<dssetup.exe>> from the product CD on your PC to configure the gateway.
You will find this set-up program on the product CD under <<DE-311\software\driver\windows\>>.
The software needs Windows 2000 or Windows XP as an operating system.
1.2 Configuring the Ethernet Gateway
You can choose two ways to configure it:
direct Ethernet connection between the gateway and
PC via CROSS OVER cable GatewayLaptop
CROSS OVER - cable
RS232
Ethernet-

interfacing via the standard (in-house) network Laptop

The descriptions below refer to the direct Ethernet connection that we recommend and they require
the standard factory setting for the configuration.
If you would like to reconfigure a machine already that has already configured, reset all values to the
standard factory setting. Then, to load the factory settings, press the reset button for at least 10 sec.
You can find the reset button on the machine next to the Ethernet interface.
Read the instructions in the machine description!
Please attend to the DIP switches of the ethernet-gateway.

Here’s how to do it:
1. select the <<Configurator>> input under <<Start/Program/Nport Management Suite/>>.
2. start a network scan under <<Locate Server>> <<Broadcast Search>>
3. the gateway appears in the display
4. select the gateway input and press the right-hand mouse button for the context menu
5. select the <<Modify Configuration>> input

key in the name for identifying the gateways. Please remember that this input is optional and
is not a network name
<<IP Address>>*
key in the IP address here where the gateway can be reached
<<network mask>>*
key in the network mask here for determining the targeted network
<<gateway>>*
key in the IP address of the gateway here for a connection to another network
<<IP Configuration>>
retain the <<Static IP>> setting
* you can get this information from the network administrator

2 Ethernet-Gateway <<NPort 5110>>
2.1 Introduction
The discription refers to the Ethernet-Gateway<<NPort 5110>>of <<Moxa Technologies Ltd>> using
Windows XP.
For configuration of the Ethernet-Gateway please install the programm
<<Npadm_Setup_Ver1.12_Build_09041012.exe>> of the product-CD on your PC.
The mentioned Setup-programm can be find on your product-CD. Just look for:
<<Software\Windows\Npadm_Setup_Ver1.12_Build_09041012\>>. .
Make sure that your operating system meets the minimum requirements for installation.
For further information please check your product-CD: <<Software\Windows\version>>.
You can find the complete manual on the product-CD <<Document\Nport 5100 Series\>>.
2.2 Configuring the Ethernet Gateway
You can choose two ways to configure it:

If you would like to reconfigure a machine already that has

To load the factory settings, please push the reset-button for
approximately 5 seconds. The “Ready”-LED starts to flash.
You can let go as soon as the LED stops.
You can find the reset button on the machine next to the
Ethernet interface.
