Herzlichen Glückwunsch zu ihrem neuen Transverter TR144-PRO!
Danke dass Sie sich für den TR144-PRO von Kuhne electronic entscheiden
haben.
Gut ausgestattete HF-Transceiver sind heute weit verbreitet und bieten
eine Performance die man von VHF/UHF oder SHF Transceivern nur
schlecht oder gar nicht geboten bekommt. Aus diesem Grunde hat sich der
Einsatz von Transverterlösungen im Professionellen und
Semiprofessionellen Gebiet durchgesetzt. So ist es beispielsweise möglich,
eine sehr hohe Empfangsdynamik mit hervorrganden Bedienkomfort zu
kombinieren und so eine Sende- Empfangsanlage zusammenzustellen die
optimal auf vorherrschende Bedürfnisse angepasst werden kann. Die sich
daraus ergebenen Vorteile machen sich viele Konteststationen, EME-
Stationen oder Funkdienste schon lang zu nutze.
Der Lineartransverter TR144-PRO ist der jüngste Transverter aus unserer
TR- Familie und erfüllt nun viele Kriterien für die früher ein Umbau oder
Modifikation beziehungsweise Öffnen des Gerätes notwendig war.
Aufgrund der langjährigen Erfahrungen und vielen Informationen unserer
Kunden haben wir uns entschlossen den bewährten TR144H+40 komplett
zu überarbeiten und einige sehr häufig angefragte Funktionen mit zu
implementieren. Bei der Überarbeitung zum TR144-PRO wurde ein hohes
Augenmerk auf Funktionssicherheit und Zuverlässigkeit gelegt und somit
ein Allrounder mit überdurchschnittlich guter Performance geschaffen. Ein
neu eingesetzter LO mit +/- 0,5ppm, eine 2. RX-IF Buchse und die
Möglichkeit, ein Dual-Antennensystem mit dem TR144-PRO einzusetzen
gehören genau so zum Funktionsumfang wie die bewährte Möglichkeit mit
einer 10 MHz Referenz zu arbeiten.
Das Schaltungsdesign unseres Transverters TR144 -PRO basiert auf der
langen Erfahrungen der Vorgängermodelle TR144H+40 und TR144H.
Das Grundkonzept wurde beibehalten, das Äußere den neuen
Anforderungen angepasst und die Einzelkomponenten neu entwickelt.
Ziel war es den TR144-PRO für die meisten auf dem Markt befindlichen HF-
Tranceiver in wenigen Schritten konfigurierbar zu machen und dadurch den
Einsatz deutlich universeller zu gestalten. So wurde zum Beispiel die sehr
robuste Hi-IP3 Vorstufe mit entsprechendem Mischer beibehalten und
durch einen neuen ZF-Verstärker ergänzt. Der Leistungsverstärker ist eine
Neuentwicklung und bietet einen besseren IM3 bei gleicher
Ausgangsleistung und ähnlichem Wirkungsgrad. Neu ist die Möglichkeit der
Fernsteuerung über eine Serielle Schnittstelle beziehungsweise die
Konfiguration über zwei Tasten und die Ausgabe aller wesentlichen Daten
auf einem gut lesbaren Display. Durch die eingesetzte Prozessortechnik
besteht die Möglichkeit, den Funktionsumfang des TR144-PRO mittels
Firmwareupdate zu erweitern und auf aktuelle Bedürfnisse zu reagieren.

Thank you for purchasing the TR144-PRO of Kuhne electronic.
Well-equipped RF transceivers are now widespread and offer a
performance that can hardly be compared to what VHF / UHF or SHF come
with. For that reason, transverter setups are well established in
professional and semi professional field to achieve a optimal combination
of outstanding parameters, such as very high reception dynamic, and
comfort of use. So it’s possible to set up a high-performance station,
adapted to the individual requirements. These advantages are already used
by many contest and EME stations as well as radio services.
The Linear Transverter TR 144-PRO is the youngest transverter of our TR-
family and satisfies many criteria so that it’s not necessary to open and
reconfigure the interior anymore. Due to the many years of experience and
a lot of information from our customers we have decided to revise the
proven TR144H + 40 completely and implement some very frequently
requested features. The revision of the TR144-PRO was focused on
operational reliability thus creating an all-rounder with above-average
performance. A new inserted LO + / - 0.5 ppm, a 2nd RX IF jack and the
possibility to use a dual antenna system are part of the functionality and to
work with the proven a 10 MHz reference.
The Circuit design of the new transverter TR144 -PRO is based on long-term
experience of its predecessors TR144H + 40 and TR144H. The basic concept
has been retained, the panel adapted to the new requirements and the
individual components redeveloped. Aim was to adapt TR144-PRO for most
popular HF-Transceiver with just a few configuration steps and thereby be
useful and universal.
For example, the very robust input stage with appropriate mixers was kept
but supplemented by a new IF amplifier. The power amplifier is a new
development and provides a better IM3 at the same output power and
almost the same efficiency. More new features are remote controlling via a
serial interface, the configuration using two buttons and the output of all
important data on an easy-to-read display. Due to modern processor
technology it’s possible to expand and add new features of the TR144-PRO
by an easy-to-realize firmware upgrade.

Generelles:
Lesen Sie dieses Handbuch ;-) Die neuste Version des Handbuchs in
Abhängigkeit des Software- bzw. Hardwarestand ihres TR144-PRO steht
auf unserer Website zum Download bereit.
Lesen Sie das Handbuch des Steuertransceivers ;-)
Stellen Sie den TR144-Pro auf einen sicheren Untergrund.
Schützen Sie das Gerät vor Feuchtigkeit und direkter Sonneneinstrahlung.
Auf eine ausreichende Luftzirkulation ist zu achten.
Die eingebauten Schutzmaßnahmen sind als solche zu verstehen, ein
permanentes Auslösen von beispielsweise der ALC ist nicht sinnvoll und
sollte vermieden werden. Gleiches trifft auf die VSWR- und Temperatur-
Warnungen zu.
Nutzen Sie bitte zu Ihrer eigenen Sicherheit ein geprüftes, stabilisiertes
und abgesichertes Netzgerät mit einer entsprechender Leistung. Wir
empfehlen, das mitgelieferte Anschlusskabel zu verwenden. Zum
verbinden der ZF-Anschlüsse nutzten Sie bitte koaxiale Verbindungskabel
mit passenden Steckverbindern, im HF-Zweig verfahren Sie bitte ebenso.
Die Verbindungen sollten so verlustarm wie möglich erfolgen. Achten Sie
auf nicht verwendete Anschlüsse und Kabel um Kurzschlüsse zu
vermeiden.
Kontrollieren Sie die zu erwartenden Pegel der Steuergeräte. Eine
Überschreitung der angegebene Pegel (siehe Abschnitt technische Daten)
führt zu einer Zerstörung des TR144-PRO. Bei Verwendung der Seriellen
Schnittstelle gilt es zu beachten, dass sich nicht um eine RS232-konforme
Schnittstelle handelt. Lediglich Protokoll und Pegel sind identisch.
Kontrollieren Sie ihre Anschlüsse noch einmal bevor Sie Einschalten.
Der Transverter TR144-PRO wurde für das 2m Amateurfunkband
entwickelt und für schmalbandige Betriebsarten optimiert. Es handelt
sich um einen Lineartransverter, welcher primär für lineare Betriebsarten
wie SSB ausgelegt ist. Der Transverter TR144-PRO ist auch für alle
anderen gängigen Betriebsarten (Stand 04/2016) nutzbar. Bei
Bertiebsarten wie bspw. FM, WSJT, SSTV oder RTTY sollte eine
Aussendung bei voller Leistung einer Dauer von 2 min oder eine
Wiederholungsrate von 50 % nicht überschreiten. Kann dies nicht
sichergestellt werden, reduzieren Sie bitte die Ausgangsleistung um
ca. 50% um einer Überhitzung vorzubeugen. Bei extrem langen
Durchgängen, wie dies bspw. bei WSJT der Fall ist, kann eine Reduzierung
auf 30% der Maximalleistung sinnvoll sein. Der Transverter wird bei
Überschreitung der zulässigen Höchsttemperatur aus Sicherheitsgründen
in den Empfangsmode geschaltet und erst nach Abkühlung ist auch
Sendebetrieb wieder möglich.
Full-BK Betrieb in CW sollte vermieden werden, da die Sende-Empfangs-
Umschaltung mittels Relais erfolgt. Die notwendige Schaltzeit hat ein
unregelmäßiges Punkt-Strich-Verhältnis zur Folge.
Wenn es doch einmal zu einem Defekt kommt:
Der TR144-PRO wird mit großer Sorgfalt hergestellt und die technischen
Daten werden genau überprüft und dokumentiert. Eine Kopie des
Messprotokolls wird bei uns archiviert somit sind die Technischen
Eigenschaften immer nachvollziehbar. Sollte ihr TR144-PRO jedoch
einmal eine Unregelmäßigkeit oder einen Defekt aufweisen, können Sie
sich jederzeit an uns wenden. Bitte vergessen Sie nicht, uns die
Seriennummer, ihr Rufzeichen und eine kurze aber aussagekräftige
Fehlerbeschreibung mitzuteilen um unnötige Kosten zu vermeiden.
Generell werden alle eingesendeten Geräte mit der neuesten Firmware in
Abhängigkeit der jeweiligen Hardware ausgestattet.

Place your TR144-Pro on a safe and dry place, protected from direct sun,
moisture and humidity.
Ensure a sufficient air circulation.
The built-in safety precautions has to be taken seriously and frequently
triggering of ALC, SWR and/or over-temperature-protection must be
avoided.
For your own safety a certified and stabilized power supply with sufficient
power should be used.
We recommend to use the provided power cord. The interconnection of
the IF-Ports requires appropriate coaxial cable with suitable connectors. For
the RF-connection a low-loss coaxial cable with suitable connectors has to
be used. Attention has to be paid to cables and connectors which are not in
use, to avoid any form of short circuit.
Carefully check the expected power levels of your transceiver. Exceeding
the stated input levels (see chapter Specification) will destroy the TR144-
PRO!
The serial interface is not a common RS232-interface, though level and
protocol are identical. More information is stated in the instruction manual.
Carefully check all connections before starting up the TR144-PRO.
The Transverter TR144-PRO was developed for the 2m amateur radio band
and optimized for narrowband-modes. The TR144-PRO is a linear
transverter, that implies it should be used preferably for linear modes such
as SSB, although all other well-established modulations (state: 04/2016) can
be handled. The transmitting period of continuous-power-signals such as
FM, WSJT, SSTV, RTTY should not exceed 2min at full power or a duty cycle
of 50%. If this can not be ensured the output power has to be reduced by
half to avoid overheating. For extremely long transmitting periods like WSJT
transmissions a out-power reduction by 70% is recommended.
Due to safety reasons transmitting will be disabled if the maximum
temperature exceeded. During that time the transverter will work in
receiving-mode only. The unit has to cool down first, transmitting is
possible again.
Avoid full BK in CW since the transmit-receive-path is switched with relay.
The necessary response time may causes an uneven dit-dot-ratio.
In case of an technical defect:
The TR144-PRO is produced with greatest possible care and individual
technical data is checked and documented. A copy of each measurement
protocol is kept in our archives to provide better technical support and
simplify troubleshooting.
In case of a technical defect of your TR144-PRO you can contact us at any
time. To provide best-possible support our service team has to know the
serial number of your TR144-PRO, your call sign and a short but significant
error-description to avoid unnecessary charges.
In general all devices which are sent back to us for service / repair will be
supplied with the newest firmware, depending on the hardware.

Sicherung / Fuse
Sollte es zum Auslösen der Sicherung oder anderer Störungen
kommen, kann nach Öffnen des Gerätedeckels die interne Sicherung
problemlos ersetzt werden. Hierzu müssen die 4 (2x2 pro Seite)
angebrachten Schrauben gelöst und der Deckel vorsichtig abgehoben
werden.
Die Abbildung zeigt die Innenansicht der Frontplatte mit den
Bezeichnungen der für den Kunden wichtigen Elementen. Bitte sehen
Sie davon ab mit ungeeigneten oder groben Werkzeugen Änderungen
vornehmen zu wollen. Auf dieser Platine verursachte Schäden sind
nicht reparabel und nicht im Rahmen der Garantie abgedeckt.

In case of a triggered fuse it can be replaced by opening the device
cover. To do so, 4 screws (2x2 each side) must be loosened and the
cover needs to be lifted carefully.
Figure above shows the front panel PCB. The for the customer most
important components are named.
Please do not make any changes / adjustments using inappropriate or
coarse tools. Damages caused on this PCB are not repairable and not
covered by warranty.

Einschalten:
Mit dem (ON) Schalter auf der Frontplatte wird der TR144-PRO
eingeschaltet. Zunächst werden Testroutinen gestartet um die
Peripherie zu aktivieren, die abgefragten Adressen oder Module
können am Display verfolgt werden. Sollte es zu Abweichungen
kommen wird auf dem Display ein entsprechender Fehler
ausgegeben. Alle LEDs auf der Frontplatte leuchten für die Dauer des
reset-Vorgangs weiß und für die Dauer des Startvorgangs Rot.

Switch On:
Activate the transverter by pressing the (ON-Switch) on the front panel.
Immediately a initiation routine starts to check the state of the internal
blocks and address of built-in sensors. That is shown on the LC-Display.
In case of a detected fault a error-message will be displayed.
All LEDs on the front panel light up white during the reset period, and
red during the starting sequence.

Betrieb:
Sind keine Fehler aufgetreten, wechselt die Anzeige zur Ausgabe der
grundlegenden Informationen über den Betriebszustand des
TR144-PRO und startet die abgelegte Konfiguration. Abhängig von der
Konfiguration und Verwendung werden die LEDs aktiviert.
Durch einen Druck auf >Taste2< kann zwischen der Mainanzeige und
der Statusübersicht gewechselt werden. Nach ca. 2 Sekunden wird
automatisch in die Mainanzeige gewechselt. Wird diese Ansicht im
Sendebetrieb gewählt erfolgt keine automatische Rückstellung.
Operation:
If no error was detected the LC-Display switches over to the main
screen to displays basic information and starts the preconfigured
configuration. Depending on the configuration and usage the LEDs
will be activated.
By pressing >Button2< it is possible to switch between the main
display and the status overview. After about 2 seconds it
automatically switches to the main display. If this view is selected
during transmitting it won’t switch back to the main display
automatically.

Menü:
Der Transverter TR144-PRO kann über ein Konfigurationsmenü ohne
großen Aufwand und in nur wenigen Schritten an die gängigsten HF-
Transceiver angepasst werden. Die Konfiguration wird in einem
gepufferten RTC (Real Time Clock) mit EEProm abgelegt und ist auch nach
dem entfernen der Betriebsspannung gesichert. Die verwendete
Speicherbatterie hat eine Lebenszeit von bis zu sieben Jahren. Das
Konfigurationsmenü, im folgenden nur noch Menü genannt, wird mit zwei
Tasten bedient. Die Steuerung des TR144-PRO ist mit einem modernen
Prozessor gelöst, dessen Software ständig weiterentwickelt und erweitert
wird. In Verbindung mit einer Updatemöglichkeit ergibt sich ein sehr
flexibles und zukunftssicheres System.
Bedienung:
Das Menü ist ein Rotationsmenü. Durch jeden Druck auf die >Taste 1<
wird das Menü weiter gestellt.

Menu Mode:
The TR144-PRO comes with an easy-to-use Menu system which allows
the adaption of all common HF-Transceiver with a few steps only. The
individual configuration is stored in a RTC (real time clock) buffered
EEProm and will be kept even without operation voltage.
The built-in storage battery has a lifetime of up to 7 years. The
Configuration Menu, from now on referred as Menu, is controlled by
two push-buttons. The TR144-PRO is controlled with a modern
processor, its software will be developed continuously and extended by
new functions. Combining that fact with a possibility to easily update
the transverter makes it a flexible and future-proof system.
Using the Menu:
The Menu is a continuous menu. Pressing >Button 1< scrolls the menu
pages.

Sequenzerzeiten:
Die Einstellungen der Sequenzer1 … Sequenzer4 (SEQ_n) geben die
Verzögerungen in der Schaltreihenfolge von Empfang auf Sendung bzw.
von Senden zurück auf Empfang an. Diese können in Schritten von 10ms
im Bereich 10...200 ms für jeden einzelnen Übergang konfiguriert werden.
Beachten Sie dabei bitte die Handbücher ihrer zu steuernden Hardware
um ein optimales Ergebnis zu erhalten.

Sequencer times:
Settings of sequencer1 … sequencer4 (SEQ_n) indicate the time delay
of the switching sequence from receiving to transmitting and back.
Values range from 10 to 200ms, configurable in steps of 10ms for
each single transition.

obtain an optimum result.

Einstellung Sequenzerzeiten:
Die eingebaute Ablaufsteuerung ist mit zwei aufeinanderfolgenden, vom
Benutzer frei verwendbaren Ausgängen ausgestattet. Die zeitliche Abfolge
kann vom Benutzer festgelegt werden. Mit jedem Drücken der >Taste 2<
im aktuell angezeigten Fenster wird die zu ändernde Einstellung um eine
Einheit erhöht. Ist das Maximum erreicht, wird wieder vom Minimum
gestartet, das ist fortführbar.

The information which configuration is suitable for the used HF
transceiver can be found in the HF transceivers manual.

Einstellung TRV TX AMP SET:
Diese Einstellung aktiviert oder deaktiviert den Sende-ZF Verstärker. Dies
ermöglicht es, einen großen TX-ZF-Eingangsbereich zu überstreichen.
Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten:
1. Aktivierter Sende-ZF-Verstärker (TX IF AMP : ON):
Der Sende-ZF-Pegel muss zwischen -12...0 dBm liegen
(entsprechend 60...1000 uW).
2. Deaktivierter Sende-ZF-Verstärker (TX IF AMP : OFF):
Der Sende-ZF-Pegel muss zwischen 0...17 dBm liegen
(entsprechend 1...50 mW).
Welche der Konfigurationen für den eingesetzten HF-Transceiver
notwendig ist entnehmen Sie bitte dem Transceiverhandbuch des
Herstellers. Im Anhang befindet sie eine unverbindliche Liste mit
bekannten Konfigurationen. Mit jedem Betätigen der >Taste 2< im
aktuell angezeigten Fenster wird die zu ändernde Einstellung
umgeschaltet.
Setting TRV TX AMP SET:
This enables or disables the transmit IF amplifier. Through that the
coverage of a large TX IF input power range is possible.
There are two options:
1. Activated transmit IF amplifier (TX IF AMP: ON).
The transmit IF power level has to be between -12 dBm til 0 dBm
(accordingly 60 uW til 1000 uW).
2. Deactivated transmit IF amplifier (TX IF AMP: OFF).
The transmit IF power level has to be between 0 dBm til 17 dBm
(accordingly 1 mW til 50 mW)
Which configuration the used HF tranceiver are needed please refer
the HF transceivers manual. In the notes it is a list with some
configuration examples without claim to correctness. The setting can
be changed with each press of the > Key2 <i n the window currently
displayed .

Einstellung TRV ANTENNA SETTING:
Der TR144-PRO verfügt über zwei gleichwertige Antennenanschlüsse. Dies
ermöglicht eine frei konfigurierbare Konstellation welcher Anschluss für
Empfang und Senden genutzt werden soll. Grundsätzlich sind zwei
Betriebsarten verfügbar:
1. Zweikabellösung bedeutet, dass Empfangs- und Sendesignale auf
jeweils separatem Koaxialkabel geführt werden. Das ist bspw. beim
Einsatz von Mastvorverstärkern, externen Leistungsverstärkern,
einer weiteren Frequenzumsetzung oder ähnlichen Einsatzzwecken
von Vorteil.
2. Einkabellösung bedeutet, dass sowohl Empfangs- als auch
Sendesignal auf einem gemeinsamen Koaxialkabel übertragen wird.
Diese Konstellation ist die klassische Version wie beispielsweise
bei direktem Antennenanschluss.
Durch Drücken der >Taste 2< im aktuell angezeigten Fenster wird die
Einstellung geändert.

The TR144-PRO comes with two equivalent antenna connectors. This
offers a freely configurable constellation which connector is used for
receiving and transmitting. Basically, two modes are available:
1. Two cable solution means that receiving and transmitting signal
use two separate coaxial cables. This feature is beneficial when
using a preamplifier, external power amplifier, an additional
frequency conversion or similar.
2. Single cable solution means that receiving and transmitting signal
use a common coaxial cable. That constellation describes the
typical setup like a direct connected antenna.

Ist der gewünschte Wert erreicht, wird mit einem Druck auf >Taste 1< das
Speichermenü aufgerufen. Im nächten Schritt ist mit >Taste 2< zwischen
abbrechen >CANCEL< oder speichern >SAVE< zu wählen. Durch einen
Druck auf die >Taste 1< wird die ausgewählte Funktion ausgeführt und das
Menü verlassen. Das zuletzt aktive Menüfenster wird angezeigt.
If the chosen value is set, pressing >Button 1< navigates up to the
memory menu. Next step is to choose between >CANCEL< or >SAVE<
by pressing >Button 2<. >Button 1< confirms the selected action and
closes the menu.
At the next menu start the last active menu page is shown.

Anschlüsse IF A / IF B und IF C:
Die Anschlüsse IF A...IF C bilden die Gruppe Zwischenfrequenzanschlüsse
(kurz: ZF-Anschlüsse). Die Buchsen sind in BNC-Norm ausgeführt und
verfügen über eine Impedanz von 50Ω. Gleichspannung darf an keine der
ZF-Buchsen angelegt werden. Bei der Beschaltung ist auf korrekten Sitz
und Ausführung der verwendetet Stecker zu achten. Die
Montageanleitung der verwendeten Stecker entnehmen Sie dem
Datenblatt des Steckerherstellers.
IF A / IF B:
Der ZF Anschluss IF A / IF B fungiert, abhängig von der gewählten
Einstellungen, als ZF-Eingang oder ZF-Ausgang.
Wichtiger Hinweis:
Wurde der Anschluss als ZF-Eingang konfiguriert, darf die angelegte
ZF-Eingangsleistung einen Pegel von 17 dBm (entspricht 50 mW)
nicht überschreiten. Höhere ZF-Eingangpegel führen zur
Zerstörung des Gerätes.
Wurde der Anschluss als ZF Ausgang konfiguriert, darf die angelegte
ZF-Eingangsleistung einen Pegel von 10 dBm (entspricht 10mW) nicht
überschreiten. Bitte beachten Sie, dass der ZF-Ausgang aufgrund
der sehr hohen Linearität eine Leistung von bis zu 30 dBm
(entsprechend 1W) abgeben kann.
IF C:
Der ZF Anschluss IF C Ist ein Sekundärer ZF Ausgang.
Dieser Ausgang stellt ein Monitorsignal für bspw. ein SDR,
Zweitempfänger, Moon Noise Meter u.ä. dar. Dem Einsatz sind keine
Grenzen gesetzt. Die Ausgangsbandbreite ist identisch mit der
Ausgangsbandbreite der Anschlüsse IFA und IFB.
Dieser Anschluss ist kein ZF-Eingang!
Dieser Anschluss muss immer mit 50Ω abgeschlossen sein. Falls kein
Empfänger angeschlossen ist, empfiehlt sich der Einsatz des
beigelegten 50Ω-Abschlusses.
Jacks IF A / IF B and IF C:
The BNC jacks IF A...IF C form the group of intermediate frequency
connectors (IF-connectors). The connectors are standard BNC with an
impedance of 50Ω. Do not apply any form of DC to the IF-connectors.
It is important to assure a correct mounting and assembling of the BNC
connectors. The assembling-instructions can be found in the datasheet
of the connector-manufacturer.
IF A / IF B:
The IF Connector IF A / IF B acts, depending on its configuration, as IF
input or IF output.
Important Note:
In case it is configured as IF input, applied IF input level must not
exceed 17dBm (equal to 50mW) under any circumstances.
Higher IF input level might destroy the device.
In case it is configured as IF output, applied IF input level must not
exceed 10dBm (equal to 10mW) under any circumstances.
Due to high linearity of the IF amplifier the IF output level can go
up to 30dBm (equal to 1W)!
IF C:
The BNC output jack IF C provides a secondary IF output.
This jack may be used to feed an software defined receiver, a
moon-noise-meter or similar with a monitor signal. There are no
limits to the variety of applications. The output bandwidth is
identical to the IFA and IFB outputs.
This BNC jack is not a IF input port!
This BNC jack must be terminated with 50Ω. If there is no receiver
connected it is recommended to use the enclosed 50Ω load.

Anschlüsse LO und REF:
Die Buchsen sind in BNC-Norm ausgeführt und verfügen über eine

LO:
Über den Anschluss LO wird die Frequenz des internen Lokaloszillators
(kurz LO) mit geringem Pegel gepuffert nach außen gereicht. Die LO-
Frequenz ist abhängig vom gewählten ZF Frequenzbereich und kohärent
mit dem internen Lokaloszillator.
Dieser Anschluss ist kein Eingang für ein externes Oszillatorsignal!
REF:
Der Anschluss REF ist der Referenzfrequenz-Eingang. Um eine höhere
Frequenzgenauigkeit zu erhalten besteht die Möglichkeit, den
Lokaloszillator mit einem externen Referenzsignal zu synchronisieren. Das
10MHz-Referenzsignal muss sinus- oder rechteckförmig sein. Nach dem
Anlegen eines entsprechenden Referenzsignals mit ausreichend Pegel
wird die Interne PLL (Phase Locked Loop) aktiv und korrigiert den LO. Es
erfolgt eine Anzeige auf dem Display und die Lock-LED leuchtet grün auf.
Das Phasenrauschen des Internen LO in Trägernähe ist direkt abhängig
von der Signalqualität des Referenzsignals. Hierfür sollte ein qualitativ
hochwertiges Signal eingesetzt werden, idealerweise ein GPS- gestütztes
Frequenznormal.
LO and REF Jack:
The connectors are standard BNC with an impedance of 50Ω. Do not apply
any form of DC to the connectors.
It is important to assure a correct mounting and assembling of the BNC
connectors. The assembling-instructions can be found in the datasheet of
the connector-manufacturer.
LO:
The BNC jack LO provides a buffered low level output of the internal local
oscillator (abbrevation: LO). The LO frequency depends from the chosen IF
range and is coherent to the internal LO.
This jack is NOT an input for an external oscillator signal!
REF:
The BNC input jack REF may be used to provide a reference frequency.
There is a possibility to obtain a higher frequency precision by
synchronizing the LO to an external reference signal.
The 10MHz-reference-signal must be a sine or square wave signal. If the
applied signal comes with sufficient level the internal phase locked loop
(abbrevation: PLL) locks and tunes the LO. The state will be displayed on
the LCD and by switching the Lock-LED green.
Phase noise of the internal LO near carrier is directly dependent on the
quality of the reference signal. Therefore a high-quality signal should be
provided, preferably a GPS-locked frequency standard.

Anschlüsse ANT 1 und ANT 2:
Die Antennenanschlüsse sind N-Norm mit einer Impedanz von 50Ω
ausgeführt. Gleichspannung darf an keine der ANT-Buchsen angelegt
werden. Bei der Beschaltung ist auf korrekten Sitz und Ausführung der
verwendetet Stecker zu achten. Die Montageanleitung der verwendeten
Stecker entnehmen Sie dem Datenblatt des Steckerherstellers.
Die beiden Buchsen ANT 1 und ANT 2 sind die VHF-Anschlüsse und können
frei verwendet bzw. konfiguriert werden. Es gibt keine interne Rangfolge
der Anschlüsse, beide Buchsen sind gleichgestellt. Bei der Konfiguration
gilt es, der Einstellung der Sequenzer Zeiten hohe Aufmerksamkeit zu
widmen. Die Umschaltzeiten steuern in erster Linie diese Anschlüsse. Wird
diese zu kurz gewählt kann sich dies negativ auf die Performance
auswirken und unter Umständen zu einem undefinierbaren Fehlerbild
oder gar Defekt des Transverters selbst oder der angeschlossenen
Peripherie führen.
Konfiguration als Senderausgang:
Bei Konfiguration als Senderausgang gilt es generell zu beachten,
dass die Last über ein VSWR von 1:1.8 oder besser verfügt.
Wird eine Last mit einem VSWR von 1:2 oder schlechter
angeschlossen, werden interne Schutzschaltungen aktiviert und
sowohl im Display als auch durch eine rot aufleuchtende SWR-LED
angezeigt.
Bei Konfiguration als Empfängereingang:
Bei Konfiguration als Empfängereingang darf die angelegte HF
Eingangsleistung 10 dBm (entspricht 10 mW) nicht überschreiten.
Dies gilt auch für Signale außerhalb des eigentlichen Bandes.
Jack ANT 1 and ANT 2:
The antenna ports are realized with 50Ω N-Type connectors. Do not apply
any form of DC to the ANT-jacks.
It is important to assure a correct mounting and assembling of the N-Type
connectors. The assembling-instructions can be found in the datasheet of
the connector-manufacturer.
The two jacks ANT 1 and ANT 2 are VHF-connectors and can be freely
configured. There is no internal priority, both connectors are equal. While
configuring the ports it is important to pay attention to the sequencer
settings. These switch-over-times directly control the antenna ports. If the
switch-over-time was chosen too short, it effects the performance
negatively and may causes undefined error-pattern or even destroys the
transverter itself or the attached peripheral devices.
Configured as transmitter output:
If configured as transmitter output the attached load has to provide
a VSWR of 1:1.8 or any better. If the attached load comes with an
VSWR of 1:2 or worse, the internal protection circuit is triggered.
The error will be displayed on the LCD and the SWR-LED will light up
red.
Configured as receiver input:
If configured as receiver input the input level must not exceed
10dBm (equal to 10mW) under any circumstances.
Note that out of band signals also come into account.

Serial Interface :
Das serielle Interface ermöglicht eine Steuerung des TR144-PRO und eine
Ausgabe der internen Funktionen. Aktiver Datenaustausch wird mit einem
Symbol im Display angezeigt. Die Peripherieanbindung erfolgt über einen
Mikrocontroller mit einem klassischen MAX232-Pegelwandler.
Diese Schnittstelle ist keine RS232 Schnittstelle!
Folgende Anschlüsse werden nicht behandelt und sind nicht beschaltet:

7 RTS Request to Send
8 CTS Clear to Send
9 RI Ring Indicator
Verwendung finden nur RX Data, TX Data und GND. Die Pegel sind COM
konform und eignen sich somit für eine Direkte Verbindung mit dem PC ,
Laptop oder USB-Seriell-Wandler. Es gilt zu beachten dass nicht alle COM
Schnittstellen über einen ausreichenden Pegel verfügen. Dies ist häufig bei
Laptops oder emulierten Schnittstellen über USB der Fall. Die
Schnittstellenparamter auf dem Steuerrechner lauten wie folgt:
Geschwindigkeit: 115200
Datenbits: 8
Parität: keine
Stoppbits: 1
Flusssteuerung: keine
Wie Sie die Einstellungen an Ihrem PC, Laptop oder Steuerungsgerät
vornehmen, entnehmen Sie bitte der Hilfe oder den jeweils mitgelieferten
Handbüchen der Hersteller des verwendeten Systems. Bitte beachten Sie
dass aufgrund der Vielfalt an Betriebssystemen und Hardware kein
individueller Support gewährleistet werden kann.

!Achtung!
Bei der Nutzung des seriellen Interfaces gilt es unbedingt, Masseschleifen
zu vermeiden. Diese können irreparable Schäden in allen angeschlossenen
Geräten verursachen.
Serial Interface :
A possibility to control the TR144-PRO and receive information about
internal functions is given by the serial interface. Active data exchange will
be symbolized on the LCD screen. The peripheral connection works with
the help of a microcontroller and a classic MAX232 level shifter.
This interface is not an RS232 interface!
Following signals are not in use and not connected

The only signals in use are RX Data, TX Data and GND. The level are COM
compliant to be directly used with a PC, Notebook or a USB-converter.
Caution, not all COM Interfaces come with sufficient level. This often
comes into account when using note- and netbooks or emulated COM
ports with USB backend.
Following port parameter settings are necessary:

Flow control: none
