(1) May I use this same TV tuner card worldwide?
This TV tuner stick supports worldwide analog TV system, which means
you can carry this TV tuner stick anywhere to watch the local Analog TV.
As for Digital TV, this tuner only supports the DVB-T system, therefore, it
will only work in countries that uses Digital DVB-T system.
(2) If I want to use Windows Vista Media Center to watch TV with the
remote control, what should I do?
Before you begin, please confirm the Windows Vista you are currently
using is Vista Home Premium and Ultimate.
i. Please install the MCE Encoder provided in the KWorld PlusTV
Installation CD (as shown below). After you have completed the
installation, please restart the computer.
ii. Please right-click on the Remote Control icon on Windows task bar, and
select Setting. (shown below)
iii. As shown below, please change the remote-control setting to Media
Center Edition. If your setting is not shown as below (HyperMedia
Center only), please download the latest driver and remote utility from
KWorld’s Support website.

(3) After plugging the TV tuner into the USB port, my computer detects
the device, but I cannot install the driver. (Doesn’t appear in Device
Manager!) What should I do?
Device Manager can be opened via the steps given in Question Number 5.
iv. Please check the hardware connection first: is it connected properly on to
your USB stick?
v. If you have connected more than 1 device to the USB port on your
computer, please remove them since they may cause power shortage
and therefore cannot properly detect setting.
This should solve the problem, and please proceed with installation using
the instructions given in the Quick Installation Guide.
(4) If my remote control cannot work or is not working properly, what
should I do?
Before you begin, please make sure you have installed the Remote Control
Utility via the Quick Installation CD provided along with the device. If not,
please do so to continue to step 1.
vi. Please right-click on the Remote Control icon on Windows task bar, and
select Setting. (shown below)
If the print screen from step 1 is different with the picture shown above,
please select Exit to close the Remote Control icon. Afterward, please
go to Windows Start Menu, Programs, KWorld Multimedia, EM_USB
Device Utilities, and Remote Control to restart the Remote Control utility.
Then, repeat step 1.

(5) How do I make sure the driver is installed correctly?
vii. Please go to Windows Start Menu, right-click on My Computer, and select
“Manage”. The Computer Management screen will be as shown below:
If the device is installed properly on your computer, in the middle panel
above, there shouldn’t be any “?” or “!” beside the『USB DVB-T Hybrid
Device』.
(6) How do I know which driver version I am currently using?
viii. Please go to Windows Start Menu, right-click on My Computer, and select
“Manage”. The Computer Management screen will be as shown below:

ix. In the left panel, please select “Device Manager”; in the middle panel,
please expand the “Sound, Video, Game Controllers”, right-click on “USB
PVR-TV Device” and select “Properties”. As shown below, you will find
the driver version under Driver, and Driver Version.
(7) What can I do to make sure my TV tuner and software was installed
correctly?
x. Please check the hardware connection first: is it connected properly on to
your USB stick?
xi. Please download the diagnostic tool AMCAP from the link below to help
to check the problem.

xii. Please close all other applications, including HyperMedia Center. After
downloading, please extract the file and launch AMCAP. (The window will
be shown as below.)

If the AMCAP window is not shown as above, rather than below, please
confirm setting in a few places.
xiii. If your USB Stick is installed correctly, you will see “USB 2883 Device”
under the Devices menu.
xiv. Please click on Options and select Preview if it hasn’t been selected
already.

xv. Please click on Options and select TV Tuner, than you will see the main
window as shown below:
If you can’t see the window as shown in the above, it means the USB
stick is malfunctioning. Or, if you can see this window but in the boxed
area, status is shown as “unlocked”, please click-on AutoTune on the left
side of the TVTuner Property Page to scan the channels. Afterward, if
the status is still shown as unlocked, it means the USB stick is
malfunctioning and hasn’t been installed properly.
xvi. Please restart the system and replug the USB stick into the same slot
again. Please repeat from Step iii, if problem persist, please proceed to
the next step.
xvii. Please unplug the USB stick, remove the driver and reboot the PC. Try
to install everything using a different USB slot.

xviii. If this still does not work, please download the GETSYSINFO tool from
the link below:

xix. After download is completed, please extract and run the program to
generate the file “systeminfo.ini” under the root folder in C Drive (as
shown below). This file tells us the exact built of your computer.
xx. Along with your personal information and product purchased, please
attach the file generated from Step x to [email protected]. We will
resolve your problem using the information you have provided and
provide you with the proper solution.
(8) When I switch over to the Digital network, why can’t I get any
channel reception? What can I do?
DVB-T is a terrestrial signal system, if it’s wave frequency has been
blocked buildings or jammed by other signals, the reception for your TV
shows will be almost none existent. Depending on the different locations
of your antenna, the reception will be different. Therefore, relocate your
antenna will help to improve your signal reception. If this situation does
not improve significantly, we would advice you to install a rooftop antenna,
instead of the bundled antenna if you want to use the product in UK (when
installing rooftop antenna, please note your antenna should point to the
direction of the transmitter.) Another option is to purchase an indoor
signal amplifier to improve reception quality.

(9) I would receive an Error Message “Cannot set capture device (1000)”
whenever I execute HyperMedia Center. What should I do?
xxi. Please check the hardware connection first: is it connected properly on to
your USB stick? (Please make sure you are using the same USB slot that
you had used during installation.)
xxii. Please make sure you have updated the drivers for your Graphic Card,
Sound Card, and the TV tuner.
xxiii. If you have already completed the first 2 steps, you please try to reinstall
the software application HyperMedia Center. Before doing so, please
make sure you have completely uninstalled the program and restarted the
computer.
(10) When I execute HyperMedia Center, I would receive an Error
Message “Cannot render MPEG2 Demix filter…” What should I do?
xxiv. Please check if the mother board on your computer supports USB 2.0.
(This device only supports USB 2.0.) softwares. Please go to
Windows Start Menu, right-click on My Computer, and select “Manage”.
The Computer Management screen will be as shown below:

xxv. Please select Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and check if your device
manager shows your USB Controllers as enhanced or not, as shown in
the red box in the picture above. If not, your motherboard only supports
USB 1.1.
xxvi. If you have gone through the first 2 steps, please check if you had
installed two or more than two video devices? If so, please uninstall
their drivers and applications.
xxvii. If you have Windows XP operating system, please check if you have
already updated Windows XP Service Pack 2.
xxviii. Please uninstall all driver and application related to this device completely
and restart your computer.
xxix. Please follow the steps on the Quick Installation Guide to reinstall your
device.

(11) I got the “Invalid Class Strings” error message when I first launched
HyperMedia Center, what should I do?
What happens is that a number of third party Codec packs such as K-Lite
Codec Pack, ACE Mega Codec Pack Professional, or Nimo Codec Pack
5.0 Build 8…etc contains direct show filter, therefore, would cause conflicts
between applications, which is the root cause of this error message. To
avoid this problem, we would like to ask you to please reinstall the Codec
pack. Taking K-Lite Codec Pack as an example, please follow the
instructions below:
xxx. Please completely uninstall this software and restart the computer before
reinstalling the codec pack again.
xxxi. Please make sure the components in the red boxed areas shown in the
following two pictures are not included in the installation.
For other similar softwares please make sure the same components are
not installed into your computer to avoid the error message.
(12) When I execute HyperMedia Center program, I would receive Error
Messages “Error on Event 900” and “Cannot pin,…(#80040209)”.
What should I do?
To solve this problem, you need to adjust the setting for Hardware
Acceleration on your computer.
xxxii. Please right-click anywhere on your desktop, and select property.
xxxiii. Please select the Settings tab and click on the Advanced button.

xxxiv. Please select the Troubleshoot Tab and adjust the Hardware Acceleration
to None.
(13) I cannot scan or preview any channels?
There are two reason why this might happen: weak signal, and improper
installation of device.
xxxv. Please change the setting of your antenna, moving to a different direction
might improve the reception.
xxxvi. If you cannot solve the problem in step I, please go to Windows Start

Menu, right-click on My Computer, and select “Manage”. The Computer
Management screen will be as shown below:
xxxvii. If the device is installed properly on your computer, in the middle panel
above, there shouldn’t be any “?” or “!” beside the 『USB DVB-T Hybrid
Device』. However if there’s a “?” or “!” beside the device name. You
should reinstall the driver and HyperMedia Center. Afterward, you
should be able to scan channels properly.
(14) I have black and white on the TV display, what should I do?
Please check if you had proceeded with Auto Scan before viewing your TV,
if you had not, please follow the instructions below:
xxxviii. Please select Analog or Digital TV, click on the Settings Choice, select the
TV Setting Choice, and execute Setup Wizard to perform Auto Scan.

(15) The TV display is fuzzy and unclear, how can I change this?
xxxix. First of all, there are 2 types of coaxial cable for TV: 50Ωand 75Ω.
Please make sure the cable you are using is 75Ω.
xl. Whether your cable is connected to a splitter or not, usually tightening the
connecting cable would solve this problem.
(16) There are green blocks and distorted images on my TV display, what
should I do?
Due to the limitation on some of the VGA cards in the market, the VMR
feature in DirectX 9.0C cannot be supported. Therefore, if your TV display
appears to be distorted or have green blocks in it, you probably have to
disable this function in the application.
xli. Turn on your PVR Plus media player and right-click on the TV display and
select Setup.

xlii. Make sure the “Enable VMR” box is unchecked.

(17) I have coax cable TV and have 100 channels on my TV, but I can only
get 12 channels on my TV stick, what happened?
Please check the “Source Input” option of HyperMedia Center to be Cable
instead of Antenna. If you have selected differently, please repeat the
channel scan process to solve this problem.
(18) I can’t see the close captions and teletext, what should I do?
Unfortunately, this card does not support close caption function, so you
won’t be able to use this function. In terms of teletext, which is only
available in PAL-based TV system, if you use the card in European country,
then this function would be available.
(19) How do I record files in MPEG4 format?
Before you begin, please download MPEG4 Codec from the internet.
There are two MPEG4 formats supported: Microsoft (www.microsoft.com)
and DIVX (www.divx.com). Please make sure the version that you are
downloading and installing is DIVX v5.XX.
xliii. After you have completed the installation for MPEG4 Codec, please turn
on the HyperMedia Center program and select TV, Setting, and
Recording Setting. Shown as below, please select MPEG4 format and
click on Return to complete this setting.

(20) I have lost my installation CD, what should I do?
xliv. Please visit our website at www.kworld.com.tw, and select “Download”.
xlv. On the top of the page, you will see scroll down menus, please select
Digital TV Series for Product Series, PlusTV Hybrid USB Stick for Product
Name, and click-on “Go”.
xlvi. You will find the latest version of the necessary softwares for your
products to be in this page.

(21) Why can I not record files that are over 4GB?
Normally when we use the default resolution of 640 x 480 for Mpeg2 format,
after 2 hours of recording, the file will exceed 4GB.
xlvii. Please check if the destination drive for your recorded files is using the
FAT32 file system by going to “My Computer”.
xlviii. Please right-click on the hard drive in which you wish to store the
recorded files and select Properties.
xlix. Under the first sub-menu, you will see the heading File System, it should
display either NTFS or FAT32. If the File System of the Hard Drive is
FAT32, please change the destination folder to a hard drive with the file
system of NTFS.

(22) After executing HyperMedia Center, the error message “Cannot set
capture device (1000)”, what should I do?
l. Please make sure your TV stick has been attached to the computer
securely.
li. Please go to Windows Start Menu, right-click on My Computer, and select
“Manage”. The Computer Management screen will be as shown below.
Using Device Manager from the middle panel, please make sure all
drivers for your graphic card, sound card, and TV stick had been installed
successfully.
