LocationRequirements
IMPORTANT:Donotinstalltheappliancenearanoven,radiator,orotherheatsource,
norinalocationwherethetemperaturewillfallbelow45°F(7°C).Donotplaceindirect
sunlight.
Checkthestrengthofthefloorbeforeinstallingyourappliance.Itshouldholdtheweight
ofafullyloadedappliance.Allowatleast1”(2.5cm)ofairspaceatthetopandonboth
sidesoftheapplianceand1”(2.5cm)betweenthebackoftheapplianceandthewall.If
theapplianceisgoingtobeplacedagainstawall,ifpossible,leaveextraspaceonthe
hingesidesothedoorcanopenwiderthanitswidth(tomakeiteasiertoremoveshelves
orstoragebins).
NOTE:Thisappliancemaybeinstalledsidebysidewithanotherappliance.Allowfora3’’

ChoosingtheRightPlace
Placetheapplianceinadryandregularlyventilatedplace.Itisrecommendedthat
thisappliancealwaysbeoperatedinanambienttemperatureofatleast60°Fand
under85°F.Theappliancemaybeexposedtolowerorhighertemperaturesbutonly
forashortperiodoftimeandthetemperatureshouldneverbelowerthan45°F.
Neverplacetheappliancenearheatemittingdevices(e.g.cooker,radiator,water
heaterorsimilardevices)anddonotexposeittodirectsunlight.
RecommendedGroundingMethod
A115Volt,60Hz.AConly15‐or20‐ampfusedorcircuitbreaker,grounded
electricalsupplyisrequired.Itisrecommendedthataseparatecircuitservingonly

LevelingYourAppliance
1. Locatethetwofrontlevelinglegstapedamongthepackingmaterials.Inmostmodels
theselegsarealreadymountedintotheundersideoftheappliance.
2. Screwtheselegsintothefrontholesonthebottomoftheappliance.Thebackofthe
appliancerestsontwofixedsupports.(Built‐inmodelsalsohaverearlevellegsthatcan
providemorepreciseleveling).
3. Adjustthefrontlegsjustenoughtoliftthecabinetupoffofthefloor.
4. Placealevelingtoolontopoftheappliance:firstsidetoside,thenfronttoback.Turnleg
counterclockwisetoraiseacorner.Turnlegclockwisetoloweracorner.
5. RepeatStep4untilapplianceislevel.
6. Afterapplianceisfullyloaded,recheckwithlevelasinStep4.
7. Ifyourapplianceisequippedwithcasters,thetwofrontcastershavebrakestoprevent
rolling.Keepbrakeslocked,andunlockformovingonly.
ApplianceUse
Inordertoensurepropertemperature,youneedtopermitproperairflowintheappliance.Do
notblockanyairvents.Iftheventsareblocked,airflowwillbeprevented,andtemperature
andmoistureproblemsmayoccur.Alwayspositioncontentstoallowsomeairflowbetween
shelvesorbaskets.
Allowtheappliancetocoolatleast6to8hoursbeforeaddingcontents.Allow24hoursfor
temperaturetostabilize.
NOTE:Whentheapplianceisfirststarted,thecompressorwillrunconstantlyuntilthe
applianceiscold,Itmaytakeupto6or8hours(orlonger),dependingonroomtemperature
andthenumberoftimestheappliancedoorisopened.Aftertheapplianceiscooled,the
compressorwillturnonandoffasneededtokeeptheapplianceatthepropertemperature.
Theoutsideofyourappliancemayfeelwarm.Thisisnormal.Theappliance’sdesignandmain
functionistoremoveheatfromitemsandairspaceinsidetheappliance.Theheatis

transferredtotheroomair,makingtheoutsideoftheappliancefeelwarm.Insomemodelsthe
condenserthatgetswarmisinsidethesidewalls,makingthesewallswarmtothetouch.
ReversingtheDoorSwing(Selectedmodels)
Ifyoufindthedirectionofopeningthedooronyourapplianceinconvenient,onsome
modelsyoucanchangeit.Holesontheoppositesidehavealreadybeenpreparedinthe
factory.
ToReverseYourDoor
Takeofftheupperhingecoverfromthedoorandremovethescrewsthatholdthe
tophinge.
Liftthehingestraightuptofreethehingepinfromthesocketinthetopofthedoor.
Liftthedoorupawaytofreeitsbottomsocketfromthehingepin.
Removethescrewstothebottomhinge.
Removethedecorativecapsfromoppositesideandplugtheholesfromoriginalside
withthedecorativecaps.
Movethebottomhingetotheoppositesideandtightenthescrews.Useanylock
washersornutsiftheywereinstalledintheoriginalinstallation.
Replacedoorontothehingepinonthebottomhinge.Placetophingepinintodoor.
Insertscrewsintothetophingeandtighten.
Ifyounoticethedoornothangingstraight—loosenthetophinges,adjustthedoor
untilitislevelandtightenthescrews.
ApplianceOperation
BaseGrill(somemodelsonly)
ToRemoveandReplacetheBaseGrill:
1. Opentheappliancedoorandremovethebasegrillbypullingdownandoutfrom
thetop.
2. Replacethebasegrillbyputtingtheclipsintheopeningsintheappliancepanel.
Pushinuntilthebasegrillsnapsintoplace.
Anoptionalstainlesssteelgrillisavailable.ContactyourLABREPCOrepresentative

Changingthelightbulb(somemodelsonly)
NOTE:Notallappliancebulbswillfityourappliance.Besuretoreplacethebulbwithone
ofthesamesize,shape,basesizeandwattage.

1. Unplugapplianceordisconnectpower.
2. Removethelightshield.Mostmodelsdonotrequiretools.
3. Replacethelightbulbwithanappliancebulbofthesamewattage.

LossofPower
Afterthepowerisrestored,unplugtheappliancefor30minutes,toallowthe
refrigerationsystemtoequalize.Duringthistimekeepthedoorclosedwhenever
possible.
REMEMBER:Afullappliancestayscoldlongerthanapartiallyfilledone.
MovingCare
1. Removeallcontainers.
2. Unplugtheappliance.
3. Cleanitthoroughly.(seeappliancecareforcleaninginstructions)
4. Tapetheapplianceshutandtapetheelectricalcordtothecabinet.
Whenyougettoyournewlocation,refertothe“InstallationInstructions”and
“ApplianceUse”sectionsforinformationoninstallationandsettingthecontrols.
Whentransportingappliances,itisrecommendedthatyoutransportitupright.Ifitis
necessarytolayitdown,layonitsside—neverthefrontorback—andbesuretocheckfor
waterinthepanontopofthecompressorbeforemoving.
DefrostSystem,OperationandShelfAdjustment
Thisrefrigeratorunitcomeswithnofreezercompartmentandanauto‐defrostsystem.
Duringthecompressoroperation,icewillbuildalongtherearcoldwall(theevaporator
plateisbehindthewall).Duringthecompressor’soff‐cycle,icewillmelt,dripdown,
collectinthetroughatthebottomanddrainthroughthesmallholeintoatrayabovethe
compressor;wherethecompressor’sheatwillevaporatethewater.Ifyounotice
excessiveicebuild‐upontherearwall,trysettingthethermostattoaslightlywarmer
setting;besurethatthegasketissealingwell–thatthereisnoobstructionofthedrain
holeinthebottomrearoftheseunits.
Allmodelshaveremovableeasilyadjustableshelves.Toremoveashelf,simplyliftthe
rearoftheshelfoutofitslockingpositionandslidetheshelvesforward.Replaceshelves
thesameway,beingsuretheylockintoplace.
Thethermostatoftheseunitsislocatedontherighthandsidetop,asyoufacethe
refrigerator.Turnclockwiseforcolderoperation,andcounterclockwisetosaveenergy
andincreasethetemperature.
Modelswithglassdoorsandflatdoorlinershavearockerswitchtomanuallyturnthe
lightonoroff.Thelightshouldbekeptoffwhenthedoorisclosedtosaveenergyand
helpkeepinteriortemperatureslower.

CleaningYourFrost‐FreeRefrigerator;Usenonflammablecleaners.
Frost‐freemeansthatyoudonothavetodefrostyourappliance.Frostisremovedbyair
movingandcollectinganymoistureanddepositingitonthecoolingcoil.Thecoolingcoil
periodicallywarmsupenoughtomeltthefrost,andthewaterthenflowsdowntothe
drainpan(locatedbehindthebasegrill)whereitisevaporated.
Completecleaningshouldbedoneatleastonceayear.

3. Washtheinsidewallswithasolutionofmilddetergentinwarmwateror2tbs.(26
mg)bakingsodato1qt(0.95L)warmwater.
Donotuseabrasiveorharshcleanerssuchaswindowsprays,scouring
cleansers,flammablefluids,cleaningwaxes,concentrateddetergents,bleaches
orcleanserscontainingpetroleumproductsonplasticparts,interioranddoor
linersorgaskets.Donotusepapertowels,scouringpads,orotherharsh
cleaningtools.Thesecanscratchordamagematerials.
4. Rinsewellandwipedrywithacleansoftcloth.
5. Usetheappropriatecleaningmethodforyourexteriorfinish.
Paintedmetal:Washexteriorswithacleanspongeorsoftclothandamild
detergentinwarmwater.Donotuseabrasiveorharshcleaners,orcleaners
designedforstainlesssteel.Drythoroughlywithasoftcloth.Foradditional
protectionagainstdamagetopaintedmetalexteriors,applyappliancewax(or
autopastewax)withaclean,softcloth.Donotwaxplasticparts.
6. Pluginapplianceorreconnectpower.

Highersettingsontheknob(highernumbers)meanlower
temperatures(colder)inallcompartmentsoftheappliance.
Onthecoldestsettingstemperaturesinsomespotsofthe
interioroftheappliancemayevendropbelow32°F.Use
higherthermostatsettingsonlywhenrequiredor
recommended.Whentheambienttemperatureisnormal,
werecommendthemediumsetting.
Changesoftheambienttemperatureaffecttemperatureintheinteriorofthe
appliancesochooseacorrectsettingofthethermostatknob,dependingonyour
ambientconditions.
IntheSTOP(0)positiontheappliancedoesnotoperate(thecoolingsystemis
switchedoff),yetpowersupplyisnotinterrupted(thelightison,whenyouopen
therefrigeratordoor).
Thetemperatureintherefrigeratorandinthefreezercompartmentalsodependon
howoftenyouopenthedoor.
Inallsmallrefrigeratorsandfreezerswithoutinteriorfans,temperaturesare
coldestnearthebottom,andoccasionallyneartherear.Placecontents
accordingly.Itisbestnottooperatetheseunitsmostlyempty.Iftemperatures
areerratic,tryputtingsomewaterbottlesorfreezerpacksinsidetocreatea
loadforthecompressor.
DigitalThermostatInstructions
Ifyoufindthatitisnecessarytochangethetemperaturesettingforyourdigital
thermostatcontrolledappliance,pleaserefertothefollowinginstructions.Thefront
panelofthethermostatisillustratedhere:

PushandimmediatelyreleasetheSETkey‐thedisplaywillshowtheSETpointvalue.
Wait5secondsandtheprobevaluewilldisplayagain.

Yourlockhasafeaturecalledautomatickeyeject.Tolockorunlocktheappliance,you
mustpushandholdthekeyinthelockwhileturning.Thelockisspringloaded,sothe

SettingtheHigh/LowAlarm
1. PresstheMODEbuttonuntilunitisintheALARMDISPLAY
MODEindicatedbythedisplayofcurrenttemperatureand
HIandLOalarmsettings.
2. TosettheHIGHtemperaturealarmlimitpresstheHIbutton,
toadvancethedisplayin1°increments,untilthedesired
hightemperatureisdisplayed.PressandholdtheHIbuttontorapidlyadvancethe
displayin5°increments.
3. TosettheLOWtemperaturealarmlimitpresstheLO
button,toadvancethedisplayin1°increments,untilthe
desiredlowtemperatureisdisplayed.Pressandholdthe
LObuttontorapidlyadvancethedisplayin5°increments.
Alarm
TheunitwillsoundthealarminbothNORMALDISPLAYMODEandALARMDISPLAY
MODEDISPLAYMODE.SlidetheALARMON/OFFswitchtoON.Whenthecurrent
temperaturedisplayrisesabovetheHIsetpoint,orfallsbelowtheLOsetpoint,the
alarmwillsoundfor1minuteandissuea3secondrepeaterbeepeveryminute
thereafter,forupto12hours.Thealarmwillcontinuetosoundevenifthecurrent
temperaturedisplayreturnstoan“inrange”condition.
TotemporarilysilencethealarmpresseithertheHIorLObuttononthebackoftheunit.
Theunitisstillactiveandthealarmwillsoundagainifthetemperaturegoesoutof
range.Topermanentlysilencethealarm,slidetheALARMON/OFFswitchtoOFF
position.

OperationModes
Thesealarmshavetwooperatingmodes:NORMALANDDISPLAY
DISPLAYMODEandALARMDISPLAYMODE.Tochangefromonemodetoanother
presstheMODEbuttononce.
NORMALDISPLAYMODE‐isindicatedbythedisplayofcurrenttemperatureandthe
MIN(minimum)andMAX(maximum)temperatures.Thesetemperaturesrelateto
external(probe)temperatureiftheprobeispluggedin,andtoambient
temperatureifthesensorprobeisremoved.
ALARMDISPLAYMODE‐isindicatedbythedisplayofcurrenttemperatureandthe
HIandLOalarmsettings.Thesetemperaturesrelatetoexternal(probe)
temperatureiftheprobeispluggedin,andtoambienttemperatureifthesensor
probeisremoved.
ResettingtheUnit
UseapointedobjecttopushtheRESETbuttononthebackoftheunit.Itisnecessaryto
resettheunitwheneverachangeismadeto°C/°Ftemperature,FAST/NORMALsampling
rate,ortheprobesensorispluggedinorremoved.
NOTE:HI/LOtemperaturealarmsettingsandMIN/MAXmemorieswillbeclearedafter
resettingtheunit.
SelectingtheSampleRate
Toselectnormalsamplingrate(60seconds)orfastsamplingrate(10seconds)slide
theswitchonbackofunittoNORMALorFAST

Therearetwowaystoresetthememories:

2. Toresetindividualminimumandmaximummemories‐presseithertheMINorMAX
button(onbackofunit)oncetoresettherespectivememory.Theothermemory
willremainunaffected.

Yourrefrigeratororfreezerisfullyfinishedanddoesnotneedafrontpanel.However,ifyou
haveorderedamodelwithouroptionalframe,followthedirectionsbelowtoinstallyour
panel.
1) Prepareyourpanel.Panelsizeis231/8”Wx281/8”Hby1/4”thickattheedges)
2) Carefullylaytherefrigerator(itmustbeempty)onitsback.
3) Unscrewthesmallpieceofframefromthebottom.Forathinmetalpaneluseabacking
pieceofcardboard
4) Slidepanelintoframeandreplacethebottomframeandreattachthescrews.
5) Liftrefrigeratoruprightcarefully.

Rechecktoseewhethertheapplianceisoperatinginafewhours.Itmay
regularlyrunanautomaticdefrostcycle.
Thereiswaterinthedefrostdrainpan(onsomemodels):
Istheappliancedefrosting?
Thewaterwillevaporate.Itisnormalforwatertodripintothedefrostpan.
Isitmorehumidthannormal?
Whenitishumid,expectthatthewaterinthedefrostpanwilltakelongerto
evaporate.
