INTENDED USE
This product is intended for indoor residential, office,
industrial, or other commercial use. Use only with
electrical wiring that is in good working order and that
meets applicable codes and ordinances. If you have
any questions about the adequacy of your wiring, con-
sult a qualified electrician.
Use your fan only with a smoke detector that is in proper
working order.
In using your fan, you should follow the IMPORTANT
INSTRUCTIONS listed below.
As part of these instructions we have used the word
warning which indicates a hazard that, if not avoided,
could result in death or injury.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precau-
tions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire,
electric shock, and injury to persons, including the
following:
Read all the instructions before using this product.
• Use this fan only as described in this manual. Any
other use not recommended by the manufacturer
may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
• Do not place fan on an uneven or surface smaller
than fan which might allow fan to tip or fall causing
damage to people or property.
• Do not use in a window.
• Always unplug fan when not in use, when moving
to new location and when cleaning.
• Do not operate fan while unattended.
• Extreme caution is necessary when fan is used by
or near children or invalids.
• Do not use the fan with the fan guards removed.
• Do not sit or stand on fan. Do not place objects on
fan.

Use your fan only in dry environments. Do not place fan in
bathroom, laundry area, or similar locations, or near sinks,
washing machines, swimming pools or other sources of water.
Never locate fan where it may fall into a bathtub or other water
container. Do not use outdoors. Do not use in damp environ-
ments such as flooded basements or garages.
DO NOT attempt to defeat any of these safety features or
instructions.
PLEASE READ BEFORE OPERATING
HOW TO USE:
• Plug fan directly into 120 volt AC wall outlet. Be sure plug
fits tightly in outlet. A loose fit will cause overheating and
damage to the plug. Always operate fan on its base in the
normal upright position.
• Set the selector switch to the desired position.
• Todisconnectfan;turnswitchoff,thenremoveplugfromoutlet.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS HV-21 (with 3 piece stand)
• Remove fan and base tube from carton.
• Place fan face down (nameplate down) on floor.
• Rotate the two short legs that are attached to the grille
into a straight up position.
• Position stand as shown in drawing, with rear of the
base tube close to the switch.
• Depress button on one leg, and slide the base tube onto
that leg. Make sure that the button is engaged in the
hole in the base tube.
• Depress button on the other leg, and slide the base tube
onto that leg. Make sure that the button is engaged in
the hole in the base tube.
• Failure to ensure that both buttons are engaged in the
base tube holes
can lead to in-
jury to persons
or damage to
property.
• Attach rubber
feet contained in
plasticbag to the
base tube per
the enclosed in-
structions.
• Plug the female
end of the power
cordin below the
controls.
• Set fan upright onto rubber feet, rotate to the desired
angle and plug the cord into a properly grounded
electrical outlet. Your fan is now ready to use.
Do not operate any fan with a damaged cord or plug or after the
fan malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any man-
ner. For repairs covered under warranty, see warranty state-
ment. For all other repairs contact Lakewood’s customer
service by telephone or mail for information and assistance.
Do not route cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with
throw rugs, runner, or the like. Arrange cord away from
traffic area and where cord will not be tripped over.

To Avoid Overloading Motor: Do not leave fan where drapes or
curtains will get pulled into the fan or against the fan guard.
A fan has sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where
gasoline, paint, or flammable materials are used or stored. This
fan contains flammable materials and if ignited will support and
spread fires.
This appliance has a three-prong grounded plug that must be
insertedintoamatchingoutlet. Toreducetheriskofelectricshock,
the grounding plug must not be cut off the plug. Where a two-
prong wall outlet is encountered, it must be replaced; contact a
qualified electrician. Do not use the three-prong plug with a two-
prong adapter. DO NOT attempt to defeat this safety feature.

BY NIGHT
Use as Exhaust Fan
Pull cool outside night air through home and exhaust hot
stale air through “exit” window. Create many air streams
by opening windows and doors as shown. Fan should be
positioned approximately 2 feet from window. DO NOT,
HOWEVER, OPERATE FAN WHILE UNATTENDED.
CARE AND CLEANING
Thisfanshouldbecleaned on an as needed basis to prevent
restricted air flow of both grilles and motor. BEFORE
CLEANING THE FAN UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.
Remove front grille by removing screws. Wash grilles and
blades with water and soft brush. Avoid harsh chemical
cleaners. DO NOT IMMERSE THE MOTOR IN WATER.
Allow fan to dry completely before use.
Excess dust accumulated on the vent slots of the motor can
be easily removed with a vacuum cleaner. Your fan motor
is permanently lubricated and requires no additional oil.
FAILURE TO PROPERLY CLEAN AND MAINTAIN THE
FAN WILL VOID THE MANUFACTURER'S
WARRANTY.
LIMITED WARRANTY
(as defined by Magnuson-Moss Warranty -
Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act)
This unit is guaranteed to the original retail purchaser
against defects in quality or workmanship for a period of
five years from the date of original purchase if purchased
within the continental United States. If purchased outside
the continental United States this product has a one year
warranty.Ifthisunitfailsbecauseofa manufacturingdefect
within30daysofpurchase,returnthe unit with yourreceipt,
to the retailer. After 30 days, but within the warranty period,
if the unit was purchased within the continental United
States, return it, freight prepaid, to Lakewood Engineering
& Mfg. Co. for repair or replacement. If the unit was
purchased outside the continental United States return the
unit to the place of purchase. This warranty does not cover
damage due to accidents, operation on other than 120
volts 60 hertz, A.C. current, or any other abuse.
All implied warranties, including the warranties of mer-
chantability and of fitness of purpose, if applicable, are
herebylimitedin durationtotheperiod offiveyearsfrom the
day of original retail purchase. Some states do not allow
limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the
above limitations may not apply to you.
Incidentalorconsequentialdamagesarisingfromabreach

POR EL DIA como un Circulador de Aire
Use su ventilador únicamente en ambientes secos. No ponga el
ventilador en el baño, área de lavandería, o ubicaciones similares,
o cerca de lavaplatos, máquinas de lavar, albercas u otros fuentes
deagua. Nuncacoloqueelventiladordonde pueda caer dentro de
la tina del baño u otro recipiente de agua. No use el ventilador
afuera. No use el ventilador en ambientes húmedos tales como
subterraneos o garages.
No coloque el cordón debajo de alfombras. No cubra el cordón
con carpetas, tapetes, etc. Coloque el cordón lejos del área de

FAVOR DE LEER ANTES DE USARSE
MANERA DE USARSE:
• Conecte el ventilador directamente en una toma de corriente en
la pared de 120 Vatios, corriente alterna. Una conexión suelta
ocasionará el sobrecalentamiento y daño al enchufe. Siempre
use el ventilador con su base en la normal posición vertical.
• Ajuste el interruptor de selecciones a la posición deseada.
• Para desconectar el ventilador, apague el interruptor, y
desconecte el enchufe de la toma de corriente.

• Saque el ábanico y el tubo de base de la caja.
• Coloque el ábanico boca abajo (placa hacía abajo) en el piso.
• Gire las dos patas que están adjuntas a la rejilla en una posición
recta.
• Coloque el tubo de base como se muestra en el dibujo con la parte
trasera cerca del interruptor.
• Apríete hacía abajo el botón de una de las patas y deslice el tubo
de base en esa pata. Asegúrese que el botón se ajusta en el hoya
en el tubo de base.
• Apríete hacía abajo el botón de la otra pata y deslice el tubo de base en
esapata.Asegúresequeelbotónseajustaenelhoyoeneltubodebase.
• El no asegurarse que los dos botones estén bien colocados en los
hoyos del tubo de base

MANTENIMIENTO Y LIMPIEZA

Permita que el ventilador se seque completamente antes
del uso.
El exceso de polvo acumulado en las aberturas del motor
puede ser limpiado con una aspiradora. Su motor del

aceite adicional.

POR LA NOCHE como un Ventilador de Escape
