1. What is your new heating controller able to do?
Your heating controller makes sure, that your home will become even more comfortable. You can define your
individual comfort-temperature for any time. You can exactly control the room temperature and the tempera-
ture of your hot water, as you like it. That means: maximum comfort, maximum economy and maximum
environmental protection!
Regardless if you want to control one or two heating circuits or if you want to control the hot water support as
well: your heating specialist chooses the suitable configuration for you. In the commissioning manual he finds
all possible configurations to adjust your heating controller to your building situation in an optimal way.

1.1. Two types of the heating controller are available
LATHERM HZR COMFORT (HZR-C): 8 configurations and 6 relays – for maximum adjustment and regula-
tion comfort.
LATHERM HZR EXTENSION CON-
TROLLER (HZR-E):
Up to 7 extension controllers can be connected by eBus to your
heating controller. So you can control up to 8 heating circuits com-
fortably.
2. se as intended
The controller is intended for weather or room-controlled regulation of heaters including hot water support.
Another application is not permissible and is considered as inappropriate. The heating controller corresponds
to the state of the art and the appropriate safety regulations of the Guidelines on Electromagnetic Conformity
(2004/108/EG), the Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EG) and the harmonized standards DIN EN 60730-1 and
DIN EN 60730-2-9.
The heating controller may only be installed and operated in:
dry, not explosive surrounding areas
closed rooms
rooms with a temperature between 0 °C and + 50 °C
3. Safety advices
Danger to life due to electric shock!
Only trained, competent and authorised persons (electrical technician according to DIN VDE 1000-10
and BGV A3) are allowed to do mounting, electrical installation and commissioning, maintenance and
repair work on the heating controller!
DANGER
Attention!
Never bring easily inflammable materials near to the controller!
Protect the controller against humidity, coldness, heat, dust and strong sunlight!
The controller may be damaged, even if it falls down of a low height!
The controller is only allowed to be operated in perfect technical condition. Damages, that affect
safety or the proper functioning of the controller, have to be removed at once from competent and
authorised persons!
!
4. Warranty and liability
All regulations about warranty and liability are defined in the general terms and conditions of the manufacturer
or in the particular contractual relationship. arranty and liability claims are generally excluded in these cases:
if damages result of inappropriate use of the heating controller
if the housing had been opened unauthorised, unauthorised structural modifications or adjustments on the
controller software had been implemented
if the electrical technician had executed mounting or repair work improperly
if safety advices or instructions of the operating or the commissioning manual had been ignored
5. Location of the manuals
The operating and the commissioning manual have to be handed out to the technician before mounting work is
started. They have to be stored in readable condition near to the controller in order to ensure quick access if
needed.

7.1. The display
Your heating controller has a clearly arranged display, which indicates information about your heating (e.g.
actual temperatures) and which helps you to adjust values. The starting display appears, when the controller is
properly activated and in operation. This is the basic structure of the starting display (if you or your heating
specialist have chosen other adjustments, different symbols may partly appear):

10. Manual change temperature level heating
ith this function you can manually change the temperature level in the automatic operating modes until the
next switching time.
e.g.
You can manually change the temperature level of your heating (e.g. when you are not at home on a
Sunday). In this case your heating will run according to the (lower) setpoint values night.
If you come home earlier from work, you can directly switch to the setpoint values day and do not have
to wait for the next switching time. hen the next switching time starts, the manual adjustment is

12. Submenu information
This submenu shows the temperatures of the connected sensors. It depends on your heating system and its
configuration, which sensors are mounted at your heating system. For this reason it is possible, that your
controller does not display all values, that are shown in the following chart.
Coming from the starting display press the key two times, until ”i“ appears on the display. Acknowledge

Attention!
hen the floor heating is activated the standard switching times are put forward for 2 hours!
The heating controller runs a logical standard program for the hot water support: As long as there are no
separate hot water switching times programmed, the hot water support conforms to the switching times for the
heating. That means, the hot water support is activated 45 minutes before night/day-switchover until day/night-
switchover (90 minutes during antilegionella release).
In the automatic modes you can choose individual switching times that define, if, how and when your heating
runs. Move in the submenu by pressing the key until ”CH“ appears on the display. Acknowledge your
choice with the key .
e.g.
For example, you can program your heating system that way, that it heats and supports hot water
between 6 and 7 o´clock in the morning for getting up, is off during the daytime and switches on again
at 16 o´clock in the afternoon for coming home from work. For the weekend you can respectively
define other switching times.
You can define switching times for different switching time channels: desired room temperature, hot water and

16. Analog remote control FW-D (optional)
ith the F -D you can change the setpoint values day and night and choose the operating mode (see figure
below) by remote control. In addition the room temperature is registered and is analysed by the controller
(room influence). The sensor (T
Innen
) has to be allocated to the controller (level E3-3/5 = 8). The adjustments at
the remote control have always priority to the adjustments at the controller. If you want to adjust other operat-
ing modes at the remote control, the controller has to switched to automatic operating mode before. If you
want to adjust other operating modes at the controller, the remote control has to be switched to automatic
operating mode (clock symbol) before. The controller identifies the analog remote control automatically if it is
connected.
17. Digital remote control DFW HZR (optional)
The digital remote control DF HZR with integrated room sensor allows to adjust the heating controller from
afar. That means, all important adjustments of the heating system can be done directly at the remote control.
A constant bi-directional data-exchange is carried out via eBus. In addition the remote control registers the
room temperature and the controller analyses the temperature. The sensor (T
Innen
) has to be allocated to the
controller (level E3-3/5 = 0). The controller identifies the digital remote control automatically if it is connected

18. DCF radio clock (optional)
The time signal, that is sent out from the DCF 77 sender and received by the radio clock, enables a synchroni-
sation to the second of the controller integrated timer. The radio clock automatically adjusts the summer /
winter time changeovers. If the radio clock is connected, time and date can not be adjusted manually any-
more! The heating controller identifies the radio clock automatically.
19. Maintenance
The heating controller is maintenance-free. You can occasionally clean it with a soft and dry cleaning cloth.
!
Attention!
No humidity may get inside the controller!
Never use solvent-containing cleaning materials!
20. Errors
Please contact your heating expert nearby, if there are any errors at the heating system.
