1. Introduction
Congratulations and thank you for purchasing an indigodesk from the LapSafe®
indigo range. Your indigodesk comes with a life-time parts and labour warranty
which you will need to activate immediately (Section 7).
This manual guides you through the set-up and correct use of your product.
2. Important actions
Upon delivery and before installation of your new indigodesk you must:
• Make a note of your indigodesk serial number, which can be found on a label
on the back of the unit which begins with the letters IND. You will need to
quote this number for all enquiries relating to this unit so store this
information in a safe place.
• Also make a note of your key number(s). The number is actually on the key
itself and you will need this if you should ever wish to order additional keys
for this unit. Also store this information in a safe place.
• Visit lapsafe.com/activate to activate your Lifetime warranty. Your warranty
will not be valid unless you do this.
• Read the section on ‘Health & Safety’ (Section 9)

3. Getting started
Remove any external packaging and locate the mains lead, keys and foam
‘cable-manager’ which are all inside the unit. Remove the transport-tape that is
securing the sliding door and open the door to find these items.
Locking / Unlocking the Front Door:
To lock / unlock the front door use the key with the GREY key cover. From the
un-locked condition and with the door slid shut, align the nib of the key with the
notch in the front of the lock at the 3 o’clock position and gently press the key
into the keyway until it stops. Whilst maintaining some pressure on the key, turn
it ¼ turn anti-clockwise to engage the door locks. The key may be removed from
the lock in the locked position.
The key can only be put back into the lock in the same position that it was
removed.
To unlock the front door is the reverse of locking. Insert the key and turn it to the
3 o’clock position to disengage the door locks. The door can now be slid to the
open position.
Opening the Rear Door:
To unlock the rear door use the key with the BLACK key cover. Align the nib of the
key with the notch in the lock and gently press the key into the keyway until it
stops. Whilst maintaining some pressure on the key, turn it ¼ turn to release the
door lock. Tilt the door and key towards you and look for the earth lead that is
connected to the door. Disconnect the push-on wire connection before liing the
door out of the peg-holes across the bottom edge of the door.
To replace the rear door is the reverse of unlocking. Locate the bottom of the
door in the peg-holes, connect the earth lead, close the door and re-lock.

4. Positioning your indigodesk
Your indigodesk should be positioned on it’s rubber feet and on a suitable level
surface with at least 100mm of clear space behind the unit for good ventilation
and connectivity.
The indigodesk may be positioned alongside one another but they must not be
stacked on top of one another and the ventilation holes in the top should not be
obstructed.
5. ChargeLine Model
If you have chosen an indigodesk ChargeLine™ 10 your unit is built to allow you to
use the AC adaptors that were supplied with your devices.
Inside the rear door of the desk unit are suicient power sockets for the number
of storage bays.
To help with identification of your AC adapters and their charging leads we have
supplied sets of numbered stickers and we recommend that a corresponding
numbered sticker is aixed to the adapter and to the device connector.
Once they have been numbered, load the AC adapters and pass the charging lead
through the cable-slot to the front of the wall unit.
Working at the front of the unit, draw enough length of the charging leads
through the cable-slot so they won’t slip back and then locate the foam,
cable-manager. Each lead should be passed through the correct slot in the
cable-manager in order to place it above its designated storage bay. Decide on
the length of lead that will be required at the front of the wall unit to best suit
your devices and then fit a cable tie behind the foam to ‘retain’ the lead before
pressing the cable-manager into the cable slot.
Place a device into each storage/charging bay – one device per bay - and connect
its charging lead.

Close up the rear compartment of the wall unit and plug the mains lead into a
suitable wall power socket and switch on.
There is no external indication of the state of charge of individual devices with the
ChargeLine™ charging option.
6. CS Pro Model
If you have chosen an indigodesk CS Pro™ with USB Charge & Sync then your unit
has been fitted with a LapSafe®, 16 way, USB charge management board that is
ready to accept the charging leads for your USB devices. The same USB
connection and lead will be available for synchronisation connectivity, should
that be required. See section 6.2
You do not require the AC adaptors that come with your devices to be fitted into
this unit.
6.1 Setting up
Open the rear door of the desk unit and locate the row of 16 USB sockets. Each
USB socket is numbered to correspond with a storage bay and an indicating LED
at the front of the desk unit.
To help with the identification of your USB leads we have supplied sets of
numbered stickers and we recommend that a corresponding numbered sticker is
aixed to the connector plug at each end of each USB lead.
Once they have been labelled, plug each USB lead into its appropriate USB socket
and pass the other end (the device end) through the cable-slot to the front of the
desk unit.
Working at the front of the desk unit, draw enough length of the USB leads
through the cable-slot so they won’t slip back and then locate the foam,
cable-manager. Each lead should be passed through the correct slot in the

cable-manager in order to place it above its designated storage bay. Decide on
the length of lead that will be required at the front of the unit to best suit your
devices and then fit a cable tie behind the foam to ‘retain’ the lead before
pressing the cable-manager into the cable slot.
Place a device into each storage/charging bay – one device per bay - and connect
its USB lead.
Close up the rear compartment of the unit and plug the mains lead into a
suitable wall power socket and switch on.
Within a few minutes the LapSafe®, 16 way, USB charge management board will
configure itself to charge all connected devices in the fastest possible time. This
process requires a number of re-starts and is completely normal.
The indicator LED’s on the front of the indigodesk show the state of charge for
each device:-
RED: indicates that a device is connected and charging
AMBER: indicates that a device is nearing the end of its charging period
(typically more than 90% charged, although this actual value will be
dierent for dierent devices)
GREEN: indicates that a device is fully charged and no longer requiring a
charge.
5.2 USB 3 Connectivity & Synchronisation
If you have chosen an indigodesk CS Pro™ 12 with USB Charge & Sync for tablets
such as iPads, then, in addition to charging, your desk unit will allow you to
connect to all of your devices from a host computer (MacBook or PC) for data
transfer and/or synchronisation while they are secure and charging inside the
unit.
NOTE: All of the LapSafe® indigo Charge & Sync products support USB3 data
transfer speeds although USB3 systems must be ‘end-to-end capable’ for the
system to connect and function at full speed. Any connected device that might
have a slower connection speed (USB2) will cause the entire system to function at
a reduced speed.

The indigodesk - User Manual
On the rear of the indigodesk is a USB3 sockets that connects to the 12 or 16
devices within or connected to the desk unit. To begin data transfer or
synchronisation attach a host PC to the USB3 socket. When a host PC is
connected a beep will sound and the indicator LED’s on the front of the unit will
flash slowly to show the change of status.
Dierent operating systems require dierent soware or applications in order to
manage multiple data transfer or synchronisations.
Note: When connected to a host PC for synchronisation or data transfer most
devices reduce their rate of charge and they only return to full rate charging when
the host device is disconnected. The LapSafe®, 16 way, USB charge management
board has a time-out on the period of reduced rate charging that returns devices
to full rate aer 120 minutes should the host PC not be unplugged. (default is 120
minutes but this is adjustable between 1 and 760 mins)

Safety Declaration
Recent guidance from the Health and Safety Executive regarding “Laptop computer charging trolleys safety
alert” requires interpretation from each manufacturer as regards to their product compliance. The HSE
statement can be found at: www.hse.gov.uk/services/education/safety121009.htm
CE Testing, Conformity and Declaration of LapSafe® Products
At LapSafe® Products we are proud to conrm that ALL of our electrical products, going back over ten years, have been thoroughly
tested and certied (by an authorised and INDEPENDENT testing house) and accordingly have been clearly CE marked.
Full CE compliance, which includes the requirements of LVD and EMC directives, is a STANDARD FEATURE of LapSafe® Products, as
are many more “built in” safety features. CE Marking can be found on the product serial number plate, usually at the lower rear of
the cabinet. CE Declaration of Conformity Certicate is issued with each product in the User Guide Pack.
You may obtain further copies of the certificate specific to your product and serial number, or any further information and
advice, upon request to our Customer support– call direct 01787 226166 or FREEPHONE the switchboard on
Rest assured that your LapSafe® Product has been designed and built with Safety as the highest priority since we rst introduced
the concept of the“mobile laptop trolley” into the UK market in the last century. This is, indeed, why we are called“Lap SAFE”.
Residual Voltage
The HSE has raised a concern (having identied at least one particular manufacturer’s trolleys with this “characteristic”) that many
manufacturers’ trolleys (if indeed not the vast majority), may have a momentary residual voltage on the pins of the mains plug and
that this could, if you touched the pins within a second or two of unplugging, result in an electric shock.
LapSafe® Products have been designed from the outset with safety internal circuitry as standard so as NOT to retain or present any
signicant residual voltage in this way. In fact, it is virtually impossible to get any such signicant electric shock from our cabinets
in normal use.
However, regardless of how safe any particular trolley may be, we endorse the recommendations for employing common sense
practise as a generic rule for any mobile electrical appliance, such as switching o the mains socket before unplugging the power
leads and NOT moving the trolleys without disconnecting and unplugging the power leads at both ends. Two of the wheels are
tted with locks as standard and should be kept locked as a reminder when power is connected and as a general safety rule as per
the user instructions supplied with each cabinet.
