Take pictures or record videos by c icking Camera from the Start menu. The indicator next
to the camera is on when the camera is in use.
If you use other apps that support photographing, video chatting, and video conference,
the camera starts automatica y when you enab e the camera-required feature from the
app.

This indicator shows whether the ac power is connected to the computer and the
battery power status of the computer.
• Connected to ac power:
– So id white (battery power 80%–100%)
– S ow b inking white (battery power 20%–80%)
– S ow b inking amber (battery power 1%–20%)
• Not connected to ac power:
– Off (battery power 20%–100%)
– So id amber (battery power 5%–20%)
– Fast b inking amber (battery power 1%–5%)
2. USB-CTM connector /
Power connector
• Charges your computer.
• Charges USB-C compatib e devices with the output vo tage and current of 5 V and 3
A.
• Transfers data at USB 3.0 speed, up to 5 Gbps.
• Connects to an externa disp ay.

– USB-C to DP: 3840 × 2160 pixe s, 30 Hz
• Connects to USB-C accessories to expand computer functiona ity. To purchase

Note: When the battery power is be ow 10%, the connected USB-C accessories
might not work correct y.
This connector a so works as the power connector. Connect the computer to ac power
with the shipped USB-C power adapter and power cord.
3. A ways On USB 3.0

To charge the USB-compatib e devices when your computer is off, in s eep mode, or in
hibernation mode, enab e the A ways On USB feature on your computer. See “Enab e/
Disab e a ways-on” on page 30.

4. HDMITM connector Connect to a compatib e digita audio device or video monitor, such as an HDTV.
5. Audio connector
Connect headphones or a headset with a 3.5-mm (0.14-inch) and 4-po e p ug to isten
to the sound from the computer.
Note: The audio connector does not support conventiona microphones.

To turn off the computer, open the Start menu, c ick Power, and then c ick Shut
down.
The indicator on the power button shows the system status of your computer.
• On: The computer is on.
• Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
• Blinking: The computer is in s eep mode.

Chapter 2 Get started with your computer
Get started with Windows 10
Learn the basics of Windows 10 and start working with it right away. For more information about Windows
10, see the Windows he p information.
Windows account
To use the Windows operating system, a user account is required. It can be either a Windows user account
or a Microsoft account.
Windows user account
When you start Windows for the first time, you are prompted to create a Windows user account. This first
account you created is of the “Administrator” type. With an Administrator account, you can create additiona
user accounts or change account types by doing the fo owing:
1. Open the Start menu and se ect Settings ➙ Accounts ➙ Family & other people.
2. Fo ow the on-screen instructions.
Microsoft account
You can a so sign in to the Windows operating system with a Microsoft account.
To create a Microsoft account, go to the Microsoft sign-up page at https://signup. ive.com and fo ow the on-
screen instructions.
With a Microsoft account, you can:
• Enjoy one-time signing in if you are using other Microsoft services, such as OneDrive, Skype, and Out ook.
com.
• Sync persona ized settings across other Windows-based devices.

Your computer might have a Windows 10 Genuine Microsoft abe affixed to its cover depending on the
fo owing factors:
• Your geographic ocation
• Edition of Windows 10 that is preinsta ed
Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtote /Hardware.aspx for i ustrations of the various types of
Genuine Microsoft abe s.
• In the Peop e’s Repub ic of China, the Genuine Microsoft abe is required on a computer mode s
preinsta ed with any version of Windows 10.
• In other countries and regions, the Genuine Microsoft abe is required on y on computer mode s icensed
for Windows 10 Pro.
The absence of a Genuine Microsoft abe does not indicate that the preinsta ed Windows version is not
genuine. For detai s on how to te whether your preinsta ed Windows product is genuine, refer to the
information provided by Microsoft at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtote /defau t.aspx
There are no externa , visua indicators of the Product ID or Windows version for which the computer is
icensed. Instead, the Product ID is recorded in the computer firmware. Whenever a Windows 10 product is
insta ed, the insta ation program checks the computer firmware for a va id, matching Product ID to comp ete
the activation.
In some cases, an ear ier Windows version might be preinsta ed under the terms of the Windows 10 Pro
icense downgrade rights.
Connect to networks
Your computer he ps you connect to the wor d through a wire ess network.
1. C ick the network icon in the Windows notification area. A ist of avai ab e wire ess networks is disp ayed.
2. Se ect a network to connect to. Provide required information if needed.

Use Lenovo Vantage
The preinsta ed Lenovo Vantage is a customized one-stop so ution to he p you maintain your computer with
automated updates and fixes, configure hardware settings, and get persona ized support.
Access Lenovo Vantage
Open the Start menu and c ick Lenovo Vantage. You a so can type Lenovo Vantage in the search box.
To down oad the atest version of Lenovo Vantage, go to Microsoft Store and search by the app name.
Key features
Lenovo Vantage makes periodic updates of the features to keep improving your experience with your
computer.
Note: The avai ab e features vary depending on the computer mode .

Down oad and insta firmware and driver updates to keep your computer up-to-date. You can configure
the options to insta updates automatica y when avai ab e.

Interact with your computer
Your computer provides you various ways to navigate the screen.
Hotkeys
Some keys on the keyboard are printed with icons. These keys are ca ed hotkeys and can be pressed a one
or in combination with the Fn key to access certain Windows functions or settings quick y. The functions of
hotkeys are symbo ized by the icons printed on them.
Hotkey Function
Mutes/Unmutes the computer.
If you mute the computer and turn off your computer, the speakers remain muted when
you turn on your computer.
/ Decreases/Increases vo ume.
Enab es/Disab es the microphones.
Refreshes the current window.
Enab es/Disab es the touchpad.
Turns on/off airp ane mode.
Enab es/Disab es the camera.
Locks the current user account.
Manages externa disp ays.
/ Decreases/Increases disp ay brightness.
Fn + Equa the Home key.
Hotkey mode
Some hotkeys share keys with functions keys (F1 to F12). The hotkey mode is a UEFI/BIOS setting that
changes how hotkeys (or function keys) are used.

Use the multi-touch screen
The screen of Lenovo 300e Windows 2nd Gen supports the mu ti-touch function. You can navigate the
screen with simp e touch gestures.
Note: Some gestures might not be avai ab e depending on the app you use.
Tap once
• From the Start menu: Open an
app or item.
• From the desktop: Se ect an
app or item.
• In an open app: Perform an
action such as Copy, Save,
and Delete, depending on the
app.
