Chapter . Meet your computer
Front
1. Wi-Fi antennas Send and receive radio waves for the bui t-in wire ess LAN ( oca area
network) and B uetooth modu e.
Note: The antennas are not visib e from the outside of the computer.
2. Time of f ight (ToF) sensor Detect user behavior and adjust settings automatica y.
Note: If your computer is in Tab et, Stand or Detached mode, the
sensor works at the appropriate ang e.
3. Infrared LED Emit infrared ight for face authentication.
4. Front camera • Capture sti and moving images for taking photos, recording
videos, and video chatting.

6. Ambient ight sensor (ALS) Detect the amount of ight in the environment and adjust the back ight

(a ways-on) • P ug the ac power adapter into the connector to provide power to
the computer and charge the interna battery.
• Connect to an externa disp ay, storage, or data devices.
• Support Disp ayPort 1.2 (3860 × 2160 60Hz).
Note: An appropriate adapter may be needed for connecting
externa devices.
• The a ways-on connector can charge externa devices when the
computer is turned off, in s eep or hibernation mode. The a ways-
on function can be turned on or off in the UEFI/BIOS setup uti ity.
Note: If Lenovo Vantage is pre-insta ed on your computer, you
can a so set a ways-on function from within that software.
3. Charging ight Indicate whether the computer is connected to ac power.

Connect headphones or headsets with a 3.5 mm (0.14 inch), 4-po e
p ug.
Note: This jack does not support standa one externa microphones. If
you use headsets, choose one with a sing e p ug.
2. Vo ume buttons Press the button to increase or decrease the system vo ume.
3. Power button (with a ight)
• Press the button to turn on the computer or put the computer into
s eep mode.
• The power button has an integrated ight to show the power status.
– On: The computer is turned on.
– Off: The computer is turned off or in hibernation mode.
– B inking: The computer is in s eep mode.

2. B uetooth fo io keyboard switch Push the switch to a different position to enab e the fo owing
functions.
• Off position: Keyboard is turned off.
• Midd e position: Keyboard is turned on and wi connect with the
atest connected device.
• B uetooth icon position: Press and ho d the B uetooth fo io
keyboard switch to the B uetooth icon position for three seconds.
The keyboard wi enab e B uetooth pairing.
Note: The spring switch wi move back to the midd e position
automatica y after re easing the switch.
3. B uetooth ight • So id amber: Keyboard is charging through the pogo pin.
• Continuous y b inking white (up to 1 min): Pairing
• So id white (for three seconds) and then off: Paired
• White: Keyboard is working and connected with pogo pin.
• B inking amber: Battery power is ow.
• Off:
– Keyboard is fu y charged and connected with pogo pin.
– The keyboard battery has no power.
4. Touchpad Perform finger touch and a the functions of a traditiona mouse.

Chapter 2. Get started with your computer
Work with Windows
The fo owing tab e contains Windows frequent y used settings. You can earn the basics and start working
with Windows right away.
To configure settings, type the corresponding keywords in the Windows search box and se ect the best
match. Fo ow the on-screen instructions to customize settings.

For mode s with a wire ess LAN modu e, you can connect your computer to
a Wi-Fi® network. C ick the network icon in the Windows notification area,
and then se ect a network for connection.
Note: The wire ess LAN modu e on your computer may support different
standards. For some countries or regions, use of 802.11ax may be disab ed
according to oca regu ations.

cab e to connect your computer to a wired network.

Airp ane mode Airp ane mode is a convenient setting to turn a wire ess communications of
your computer on and off. You may need to turn it on when boarding an
airp ane.
Airp ane mode
Night ight mode Night ight is a switch in Windows that you can turn on and off. When it is
turned on, your screen shows warmer co ors and the amount of emitted
b ue ight is reduced. Enab ing night ight reduces the chances of deve oping
eye fatigue or eye strain.
Note: For more guidance on reducing eye fatigue or eye strain, go to

If night ight mode is turned on, you can adjust the co or temperature of the
screen.
Note: Se ected Lenovo computers are ow b ue ight certified. These
computers are tested with night ight turned on and co or temperature set to
the defau t va ue of 48.

Windows
Updates
Microsoft periodica y re eases feature and security updates to the Windows
operating system. Updates that are app icab e to your Windows version are
down oaded automatica y when your computer is connected to the
Internet. When updates are down oaded, you are prompted to restart the
computer to insta these updates. You can a so manua y check if there are
avai ab e updates for the insta ed version of Windows.
Attention: On y use Windows Update to down oad and insta updates.
Updates down oaded from other sources may inc ude security risks.

Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC Manager
They are both apps deve oped by Lenovo. Using either of them, you can:
• View product information and system status
• Manage and change device settings
• Check for and perform system update
Note: This feature is on y avai ab e on Lenovo Vantage. In Lenovo PC Manager, you can check for and
perform driver update.
Depending on the country or region in which your computer is purchased, one of the apps may be pre-
insta ed on your computer. To open it, type its name in the Windows Search box and se ect the matched
resu t. If neither of the apps is pre-insta ed, you may insta one on your own. Lenovo Vantage is avai ab e for
down oad free of charge from the Microsoft Store.
Note: App features are subject to change with updates and specific features may not be avai ab e on a
Lenovo products.
Connect a Bluetooth device
B uetooth is a short-range wire ess communications techno ogy. Use B uetooth to estab ish a wire ess
connection between your computer and another B uetooth-enab ed device within a distance of about 10 m
(32.8 ft).
To connect a Bluetooth device using swift pair
Step 1. Turn on the B uetooth device that supports swift pair and make it discoverab e. For more
information, see the document that comes with the B uetooth device.
Step 2. Se ect Connect when a swift pair notification appears that a new B uetooth device was found.
To connect a Bluetooth device using conventional pair
If you do not receive the swift pair notification, you can a so do as the fo ows to pair a B uetooth device.
Step 1. Turn on the B uetooth device and make it discoverab e.

Step 2. Se ect ➙ ➙ Devices ➙ Bluetooth and other devices ➙ Add Bluetooth or other devices ➙
Bluetooth. A ist of avai ab e B uetooth devices is disp ayed.
Step 3. Se ect the target B uetooth device and start pairing.
Combination of computer and Bluetooth folio keyboard (for selected
models)
A ign the connector of the keyboard with the computer and then attach the computer in the direction shown
by the arrow.
Note: When the computer and B uetooth fo io keyboard are physica y connected there is no need for
B uetooth pairing. When separated, users need to use B uetooth to pair the computer with the B uetooth fo io
keyboard. The B uetooth fo io keyboard supports swift pair. Refer to “Connect a B uetooth device” on page
12.
Use the kickstand
Your computer has a bui t-in kickstand. Pivot the kickstand from the pits on both sides of the computer to
the open position as shown.
