1. Microphones Capture or record sound and voice.

1. Charging ight Indicate whether the computer is connected to ac power.
• So id white: Connected to ac power; battery capacity 91%–100%
• So id amber: Connected to ac power; battery capacity 1%–90%
• Off: Not connected to ac power
2. Power button Press the button to turn on the computer or put the computer into
s eep mode.
Note: You can turn on the computer by f ipping open the LCD screen
if F ip to Boot is enab ed.
3. Power ight Indicate the power status of the computer. The co or of the power
ight a so ref ects the current y activated operating mode. Refer to
“Set performance mode” on page 16 for how to switch performance
modes.
• So id on: The computer is turned on; battery charge percentage
21% - 100%.
– White: in ba ance mode
– Red: in performance mode
– B ue: in quiet mode
• B inking fast: The computer is turned on; battery charge
percentage 1% - 20%.
• B inking s ow y: The computer is in s eep mode.
• Off: The computer is turned off or in hibernation mode.
4. Numeric keypad To enab e or disab e the numeric keypad, press the Num Lock key.
5. Touchpad Perform finger touch and a the functions of a traditiona mouse.
Note: The touchpad a so supports mu ti-touch function.
6. Keyboard Enter characters and interact with programs.

Avoid constant body contact with specific hot sections
CAUTION:
When the computer is operating, it should be placed on a hard and flat surface with its bottom area
not in contact with user’s bare skin. Under normal operating conditions, the temperature of the
bottom surface will remain within an acceptable range as defined in IEC 62368-1, but such
temperatures can still be high enough to cause discomfort or harm to the user if directly touched for
over 60 seconds at a time. As such, it is recommended that users avoid prolonged direct contact with
the bottom of the computer.

Chapter 2. Get started with your computer
Work with Windows
The fo owing tab e contains Windows frequent y used settings. You can earn the basics and start working
with Windows right away.
To configure settings, type the corresponding keywords in the Windows search box and se ect the best
match. Fo ow the on-screen instructions to customize settings.

a Wi-Fi® network. C ick the network icon in the Windows notification area,

Note: The wire ess LAN modu e on your computer may support different
standards. For some countries or regions, use of 802.11ax may be disab ed
according to oca regu ations.

Airp ane mode Airp ane mode is a convenient setting to turn a wire ess communications of
your computer on and off. You may need to turn it on when boarding an
airp ane.

Night ight mode Night ight is a switch in Windows that you can turn on and off. When it is
turned on, your screen shows warmer co ors and the amount of emitted
b ue ight is reduced. Enab ing night ight reduces the chances of deve oping
eye fatigue or eye strain.

If night ight mode is turned on, you can adjust the co or temperature of the
screen.
Note: Se ected Lenovo computers are ow b ue ight certified. These
computers are tested with night ight turned on and co or temperature set to
the defau t va ue of 48.

Windows
Updates
Microsoft periodica y re eases feature and security updates to the Windows
operating system. Updates that are app icab e to your Windows version are
down oaded automatica y when your computer is connected to the
Internet. When updates are down oaded, you are prompted to restart the
computer to insta these updates. You can a so manua y check if there are
avai ab e updates for the insta ed version of Windows.
Attention: On y use Windows Update to down oad and insta updates.
Updates down oaded from other sources may inc ude security risks.

Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC Manager
They are both apps deve oped by Lenovo. Using either of them, you can:
• View product information and system status
• Manage and change device settings
• Check for and perform system update
Note: This feature is on y avai ab e on Lenovo Vantage. In Lenovo PC Manager, you can check for and
perform driver update.
Depending on the country or region in which your computer is purchased, one of the apps may be pre-
insta ed on your computer. To open it, type its name in the Windows Search box and se ect the matched
resu t. If neither of the apps is pre-insta ed, you may insta one on your own. Lenovo Vantage is avai ab e for
down oad free of charge from the Microsoft Store.
Note: App features are subject to change with updates and specific features may not be avai ab e on a
Lenovo products.
The Novo Button menu
The Novo Button menu can be disp ayed before the operating system starts. From the menu, you can
choose to
• Open the BIOS/UEFI setup uti ity
• Open the boot device se ection menu
• Open the Windows startup options screen
Note: From the Windows startup options screen, you can then choose to
Start your computer using a recovery drive

Open advanced options screen
Open the Novo Button menu
For Lenovo computers with a Novo button, you can press the button to open the Novo Button menu.
Step 1. Turn off the computer.
Step 2. Open the LCD screen and press the Novo button.
Interact with your computer
Keyboard hotkeys
Some keys on the keyboard are printed with icons. These keys are ca ed hotkeys and can be pressed a one
or in combination with the Fn key to open certain apps or change certain settings quick y. The functions of
the hotkeys are symbo ized by the icons printed on them.

Mute/Unmute the microphone.
Increase/Decrease screen brightness.

Turn airp ane mode on and off.
Open Lenovo Vantage, Lenovo PC Manager, or an app aunch bar.

Open the Windows Ca cu ator app.
Open the Windows snipping too .

Stop p ayback of media.
Go to the previous media fi e in the p ay ist or fo der.

Turn on/off or adjust the brightness of the keyboard back ight.
Note: Se ected mode s inc ude a RGB keyboard. For such a keyboard, this
hotkey switches the co or and effect of the keyboard back ight. Additiona contro
is avai ab e in Lenovo Vantage.
Hotkey mode
Some hotkeys share keys with function keys (F1 to F12). The hotkey mode is a UEFI/BIOS setting that
changes how hotkeys (or function keys) are used.

Note: Hotkeys that do not share keys with function keys are not affected by the hotkey mode setting. They

The FnLock switch
The FnLock is a switch that reverses the defau t and hidden function of a hotkey. The fo owing tab e
provides an examp e of how the FnLock switch changes the defau t function of the F1 key.

Note: The F1 function is app ication-dependent. It may have no function if the active app ication does not
have a definition for the key.
The FnLock switch shares the ESC key (in the upper eft corner of the keyboard). To turn it on or off, press Fn
+ ESC.
Numeric keypad
Some Lenovo computers inc udes a dedicated numeric keypad on the far right of the keyboard. The keypad
is used for entering numbers and operators quick y.
Press the NumLock key to enab e or disab e the numeric keypad.
