1. Wireless antennas Send and receive radio waves for the built-in wireless LAN (local area
network) and Bluetooth module.
Notes:
• The antennas are not visible from the outside of the computer.
• If the location of the antennas is close to the user’s bod (< 20 cm),
ou can find the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values in the Setup
Guide that comes with our computer.

• Solid white: connected to ac power; batter capacit 91%–100%

3. USB 3.2 Gen 1 T pe-A connectors Connect a USB-compatible device, such as a USB ke board, a USB
mouse, a USB storage device, or a USB printer.
4. HDMITM connector Connect to a compatible digital audio device or video monitor, such

5. microSD card slot Insert a microSD card into the slot for data transfer or storage.
6. Novo button hole
Press the Novo button to open the Novo Button menu. From the

Work with Windows
The following table contains Windows frequentl used settings. You can learn the basics and start working
with Windows right awa .
To configure settings, t pe the corresponding ke words in the Windows search box and select the best
match. Follow the on-screen instructions to customize settings.

For models with a wireless LAN module, ou can connect our computer to
a Wi-Fi® network. Click the network icon in the Windows notification area,
and then select a network for connection.
Note: The wireless LAN module on our computer ma support different
standards. For some countries or regions, use of 802.11ax ma be disabled
according to local regulations.

Airplane mode Airplane mode is a convenient setting to turn all wireless communications of
our computer on and off. You ma need to turn it on when boarding an
airplane.

Night light mode Night light is a switch in Windows that ou can turn on and off. When it is
turned on, our screen shows warmer colors and the amount of emitted
blue light is reduced. Enabling night light reduces the chances of developing
e e fatigue or e e strain.

If night light mode is turned on, ou can adjust the color temperature of the
screen.
Note: Selected Lenovo computers are low blue light certified. These
computers are tested with night light turned on and color temperature set to
the default value of 48.

Updates
Microsoft periodicall releases feature and securit updates to the Windows
operating s stem. Updates that are applicable to our Windows version are
downloaded automaticall when our computer is connected to the
Internet. When updates are downloaded, ou are prompted to restart the
computer to install these updates. You can also manuall check if there are
available updates for the installed version of Windows.
Attention: Onl use Windows Update to download and install updates.
Updates downloaded from other sources ma include securit risks.

disabled to prevent inadvertent t ping. In these three modes, Windows
touch ke board is automaticall displa ed when text input is required. If not,

Tablet mode Windows provides a tablet mode that makes touch operations more user-
friendl . When rotating our computer screen to switch to tablet, stand, or
tent mode, ou will be prompted to switch to Windows tablet mode. You
can also select the tablet mode icon in the Windows notification area to turn
on or off Windows tablet mode manuall .

If the on-screen instructions cannot solve our problem, refer to the following to get the online Windows help
information.
• T pe Get Help or Tips in the Windows search box and then press Enter. When the app opens, t pe the

search box and get search results.
Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC anager
Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC Manager is software developed b Lenovo. Using the software, ou can:
• View product information
• View warrant and support information
• Run hardware scan and diagnose problems
• Change hardware settings
• Update Windows, drivers, and UEFI/BIOS
Lenovo Vantage or PC Manager ma be pre-installed on our computer. To open it, enter the software name
in Windows Search and select the matched result.
Note: If Lenovo Vantage is not pre-installed, ou can download it from Microsoft Store.
The Novo Button menu
The Novo Button menu can be displa ed before the operating s stem starts. From the menu, ou can
choose to
• Open the BIOS/UEFI setup utilit
• Open the boot device selection menu
• Open the Windows startup options screen

Open the Novo Button menu
For Lenovo computers with a Novo button, ou can press the button to open the Novo Button menu.
Step 1. Turn off the computer.
Step 2. Open the LCD screen and press the Novo button.
Note: Alternativel , turn off the computer. Press Fn and the power button to open the Novo Button menu.
Interact with your computer
Keyboard hotkeys
Some ke s on the ke board are printed with icons. These ke s are called hotke s and can be pressed alone
or in combination with the Fn ke to access certain Windows functions or settings quickl . The functions of
hotke s are s mbolized b the icons printed on them.
Hotkey Function
Mute/Unmute sound.
Decrease/Increase s stem volume.
Mute/Unmute the microphone.
Reload Web pages or refresh the screen.
Enable/Disable the touchpad.
Turn airplane mode on and off.
Enable/Disable the integrated camera.
Lock the screen.
Switch displa devices.
Increase/Decrease screen brightness.
Hotkey mode
Some hotke s share ke s with function ke s (F1 to F12). The hotke mode is a UEFI/BIOS setting that
changes how hotke s (or function ke s) are used.

anage power
Use the information in this section to achieve the best balance between performance and power efficienc .
Check the battery status
The batter status icon or is in the Windows notification area. You can check the batter status, view
the current power plan, and access batter settings quickl .
Click the batter status icon to displa the percentage of batter power remaining and change the power
mode. A warning message is displa ed when the batter is low.
Charge the battery
When the remaining batter power is low, charge our batter b connecting our computer to ac power.
The batter is full charged in about two to four hours. The actual charging time depends on the batter
capacit , the ph sical environment, and whether ou are using the computer.
Batter charging is also affected b its temperature. The recommended temperature range for charging the
batter is between 10°C (50°F) and 35°C (95°F).
Note: To maximize the life of the batter , the computer does not start recharging the batter if the remaining
power is greater than 95%.
Check the battery temperature
You can check the batter temperature in Lenovo Vantage or Lenovo PC manager.
Step 1. Open Lenovo Vantage.
Step 2. Click Hardware Settings ➙ Power.
Step 3. Locate the Power Status section and then click Show Details to view the batter temperature.
Note: If ou’re using Lenovo PC Manager, select System hardware ➙ Battery.
Set power button behavior
B default, pressing the power button puts the computer to sleep mode. However, ou can change the
power button behavior in Windows Control Panel.
Step 1. T pe Control Panel in the Windows search box and then press Enter. Open the control panel and
view b large or small icons.
Step 2. Select the power options and then click choose what the power button does.
Change or customize a power plan
This operation is applicable to computers with pre-installed Windows.
Step 1. T pe power plan in the Windows search box and then press Enter.
Step 2. Customize a power plan of our preference.

Change settings in UEFI/BIOS setup utility
This section introduces what is UEFI/BIOS and the operations ou can perform in its setup utilit .
What is UEFI/BIOS setup utility
UEFI/BIOS is the first program that runs when a computer starts. UEFI/BIOS initializes hardware components
and loads the operating s stem and other programs. Your computer ma include a setup program (setup
utilit ) with which ou can change certain UEFI/BIOS settings.
Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utility
Step 1. Turn on or restart the computer.
Step 2. When the Lenovo logo appears on the screen, press F2 repeatedl .
Note: For computers with hotke mode enabled, press Fn + F2.
Change the startup sequence
You ma need to change the startup sequence to allow the computer to start from another device or a
network location.
Step 1. Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utilit .
Step 2. Navigate to the Boot menu.
Step 3. Follow on-screen instructions to change the order of devices under Boot Priorit Order.
Note: You can also change startup sequence temporaril without opening the setup utilit . To do so, start
the computer. When the Lenovo logo appears, press F12 (or Fn + F12) repeatedl .
Change hotkey mode
Step 1. Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utilit .
Step 2. Select Configuration ➙ Hotkey ode and press Enter.
Step 3. Change the setting to Disabled or Enabled.
Step 4. Select Exit ➙ Exit Saving Changes.
Enable or disable always-on
For some Lenovo computers with alwa s-on connectors, the alwa s-on function can be enabled or disabled
in the UEFI/BIOS setup utilit .
Step 1. Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utilit .
Step 2. Select Configuration ➙ Always On USB and press Enter.
Step 3. Change the setting to Disabled or Enabled.
Step 4. Select Exit ➙ Exit Saving Changes.
Set passwords in UEFI/BIOS setup utility
This section introduces the t pes of passwords that ou can set in the UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware
Interface) or BIOS (Basic Input/Output S stem) setup utilit .
