Time-of-flight sensor
The time-of-flight sensor (also referred to as a ToF sensor) emits an infrared laser and uses the reflected
infrared energy to measure the distance and de th of objects in front of it. The data collected by the sensor
can be used to detect human resence or recognize gestures.
Note: The infrared laser emitted by the ToF sensor is invisible to the human eye.
Laser safety information
This device is classified as a Class 1 consumer laser roduct er IEC 6 825-1:2 14, EN 6 825-1:2 14
+A11:2 21, and EN 5 689:2 21. This device com lies with FDA erformance standards for laser roducts
exce t for conformance with IEC 6 825-1 Ed. 3, as described in Laser Notice No. 56, dated May 8, 2019.
CAUTION:
This device contains a laser that could be damaged during repair or disassembly, which could result
in hazardous exposure to infrared laser emissions There are no user serviceable parts within the
device Do not attempt to disassemble or service the device
Microphones
The micro hones are the PC's built-in sound in ut devices. They ca ture your voice and ambient sound and
convert them into digital form. Micro hones are essential com onents when you use your PC for video
conferencing or voice recording.
Infrared LED
The infrared LED generates and emits near-infrared waves that are received and used by a camera (or a
dedicated infrared camera) for facial recognition.
Camera shutter
The camera shutter is a sliding ca that you can move to block the camera lens.
Note: The camera shutter is designed for rivacy rotection. When the camera lens is blocked, the camera
function is disabled.
Camera
The built-in camera ca tures visible light and converts it to digital signals. It is used for video recording and
video conferencing.
The camera for some models can also detect near-infrared waves. For those models, an IR LED is also
included to emit near-infrared waves. They are used together to achieve face-based authentication.
Camera light
The camera light indicates whether the camera is activated.

Screen
The screen of the built-in dis lay is where text, gra hics, and videos are dis layed.
Some models offer touch-enabled screens, which allow you to interact with your PC by intuitively touching
buttons, icons, and menu items dis layed on the screen. Touch-enabled screens also su ort multi-finger
gestures.
Antennas
The antennas transmit and receive radio waves to allow data to be transferred between your PC and a Wi-Fi®
network device or a Bluetooth device.
Note: The antennas are hidden inside the PC.

Power light
The ower light indicates the current ower state of the PC: whether it is owered on, owered off, in slee
mode, or in hibernation mode.
When the PC is owered on, this light can also indicate low battery by blinking ra idly.

Power button
Press the ower button to turn on your PC.
Note: By default, on a Windows PC, ressing the ower button when the PC is turned on will ut the PC into
slee mode.
Speakers
The s eakers are the PC's built-in sound out ut devices.
Keyboard
The keyboard is the PC's built-in in ut device for ty ing characters. It also includes keys that can make you
more roductive when interacting with the PC, a s, and the Windows o erating system.

Fingerprint sensor
The finger rint sensor scans your finger to unlock your PC or verify your identity.
Note: You need to enroll one or more finger rints before using them for identity verification. On a Windows
PC, go to Settings ➙ Accounts ➙ Sign-in options to enroll your finger rints.
Touchpad
The touch ad is the PC's built-in ointing device, which rovides the basic functionality of an external
mouse. Slide your finger on the touch ad to move the ointer on the screen and ta or double-ta to select
or execute a screen item.
The touch ad also su orts Windows multi-finger gestures, which rovide shortcuts to frequently used a s
and functions.

Multi-purpose USB Type-C connector
This USB Ty e-C connector is the PC's ower in ut connector. Use the included ower ada ter and this
connector to su ly ower to the PC.
When this connector is not used by the included ower ada ter, it can also be used to connect:
• Storage or eri heral devices that follow the universal serial bus (USB) s ecification for data transfer and
device interconnection
• Dis lay devices
Note: When connecting dis lay devices, you need to use a ro riate cables and ada ters (if needed)
according to the connection ca abilities of the dis lay device.
Charging light
The charging light indicates whether the PC is lugged into an electrical outlet. When the PC is lugged into
an electrical outlet, the color of the light indicates whether the battery is fully charged (or will shortly be fully
charged).

HDMI connector
The HDMI connector is used to connect an external dis lay device, such as a television, a rojector, or a

This multi- ur ose USB Ty e-C connector is used to connect:
• Storage or eri heral devices that follow the USB s ecification for data transfer and device
interconnection
• Dis lay devices

according to the connection ca abilities of the dis lay device.
Combo audio jack
The combo audio jack is used to connect single- lug headsets, head hones, or external s eakers.

Novo button hole
When the PC is owered off, you can ress the Novo button to dis lay the Novo button menu. From the
menu, you can then choose to:
• O en the firmware setu utility
• Dis lay the boot device selection menu
• Dis lay the Windows advanced startu o tions age
Note: The Novo button is rarely used during normal PC o erations. To revent users from accidentally
ressing it, the Novo button is laced in a recessed hole. You can use a straightened a er cli to ress this
button.

microSD card slot
The microSD card slot is used to insert a microSD, microSDHC, or microSDXC memory card to transfer data
between the memory card and your PC.
USB Standard-A connector
The USB Standard-A connector is used to connect storage or eri heral devices that follow the USB
s ecification for data transfer and device interconnection.
Always-on connector
A USB connector with a battery icon ( ) su orts the always-on function. The PC can su ly ower to a
USB device connected to this ty e of connector even when the PC is owered off, in slee mode, or in
hibernation mode.
The always-on function can be turned on and off in:
• The PC's firmware setu utility, or
• Lenovo Vantage or Lenovo PC Manager

The air vents allow air to be sucked inside of the PC to cool the internal com onents.
Important: When the PC is o erating, do not lace it on a bed, sofa, car et, or other flexible surfaces.
Otherwise, the air vents will be blocked and the PC may overheat, reducing erformance or causing the PC
to be unres onsive or even shut down.
