•When closing the display panel, be careful not to leave pens or any other objects in
between the display panel and the keyboard. Otherwise, the display panel may be
damaged.

Integrated
camera
Use the camera for video communication.
Multi-touch
display
The LCD display with LED backlight provides brilliant
visual output. Multi-touch function is available on this
display.
Windows button Press this button to:
• Toggle between the current view and the Start screen.
Or
• Wake up the computer from sleep mode.
Speaker Provides audio output.
Touchpad The touchpad functions as a conventional mouse.
Touchpad To move the cursor on the screen, slide your
fingertip over the pad in the direction in which you want
the cursor to move.
Touchpad buttons The functions of the left/right side
correspond to that of the left/right mouse button on a
conventional mouse.
Note: You can enable/disable the touchpad by pressing .
Wireless LAN
antennas
Connect to the wireless LAN adapter to receive and send
wireless radio.

Screen orientation
You can rotate the display panel to your preferred orientation.
• The orientation of the display automatically changes (alternating between
portrait and landscape modes) depending upon how you hold the
computer.
• To prevent automatic orientation, press the screen rotation lock button. It is
located on the right edge of the computer. (See below illustration).
Note: The screen rotation lock button will be disabled in notebook mode.

Keyboard function keys
You can access certain system settings quickly by pressing the appropriate
function keys.
: Mutes/unmutes the sound. : Enables/disables Airplane
mode.
: Decreases the volume level. : Displays all currently active
apps.
: Increases the volume level. : Turns on/off the backlight of
the LCD screen.
: Closes the currently active
window. :
Opens the interface for the
display device switch to
select this notebook or an
external display.
: Refreshes the desktop or the
currently active window. : Decreases display brightness.
: Enables/disables the
touchpad. : Increases display brightness.

The display brightness changes with the ambient light. If you want to adjust
the brightness manually, turn off the option of Adjust my screen brightness
automatically.
To turn off this option:
1 Open the charms, select Settings →Change PC settings →General.
2 Move the slider from On to Off in the Adjust my screen brightness
automatically in Screen.
Note: For details on how to open the charms, see “The charms” on page16.

Positioning the display panel
The display panel can be opened to any angle up to 360 degrees.
Notebook Mode
Suitable for tasks that require a keyboard and mouse (such as creating
documents, writing e-mails, and so on).
