ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION
NOTE: The AerBike is a universal bicycle mounting system created to
accommodate and transport bikes of any size within the Black Box™
Cargo Carrier. In order to achieve a custom t for your bicycle, the
AerBike can be assembled in many different congurations. The steps
below outline some common AerBike arrangements; for some bicycles,
simple built-in adjustments will be required for a secure t.
The AerBike attaches to the carrier using the existing Button Head Bolts
located on the BlackBox attaching the Floor Panels of the rack to the U-tubes [see your BlackBox Manual if
you are unsure or need clarication on these locations].
Prepare your BlackBox by choosing either drivers side or passenger side of the vehicle (this the direction that
the handle bars of the bicycle will face) and then remove four (4) existing Button Head Bolts from the rack
oor. Wipe down the area with a damp cloth. [Fg. 1]

Install two (2) C-Channels [A] bars in the prepared locations on
the BlackBox Carrier using the existing Button Head Floor Bolts,
as shown [Fg. 2].

The 3rd C-Channel [A] can be placed
either perpendicular or angled across the
C-Channels installed in STEP 2.
To place C-Channel [A] perpendiular, use
the holes that are located to the inside of the
C-Channel. [Fg. 6]
To place the C-Channel [A] in the angled
position, use the holes located closest to the
edge of the C-Channel. [Fg. 7]
Connect the 3rd C-Channel [A] to the
C-Channels installed in STEP 1 by threading
two (2) Hex Bolts [C] and two (2) Washers
into the Spring Nuts [B] installed in the 1st
and 2nd C-Channel as shown.

Install one (1) Spring Nut [B] into each C-Channel [A] by inserting the Spring Nut parallel to the C-Channel
Track [Fg. 3]. Then, applying downward pressure, rotate the Spring Nut toward its’ grooved edge until the
“teeth” on the Spring Nut lock into place with the edges of the C-Channel [Fg. 4]. The Spring Nut should be
perpendicular to the C-Channel when done [Fg. 5].

Placement of the U-Brackets [H] and Fork Mount [J] are dependent on the size and frame of the bicycle
to be secured. Below are some example placements of the AerBike assembly for reference, actual set-
up may vary depending on user needs.
The following steps outlines the installation of one common placement though your Fork Mount [J] and
U-Bracket [H] placement may differ, the hardware and method used for installation will be the same.

Connect the Fork Mount [J] to the U-Brackets [H] using Hex Bolts [C],
Washers [D], and Hex Nuts [E] in as shown. [Fg.11]
In the same manor as Step 2, install two (2) Spring Nuts [B]
into the third C-Channel [A] track approx. 5” apart [Fg. 12].
Install the Fork Mount/U-Bracket assembly by threading
two (2) Hex Bolts [C] and two (2) Washers [D] through the
U-Brackets [H] and into the Spring Nuts [B] installed in the
C-Channel [A] [Fg. 12].

FRONT FORK: The bicycle Fork Mount [J] is a standard bicycle Fork Mount/Skewer system intended for most
styles of bicycles. Consult your bicycle manual to conrm compatibility of the Fork mount.
Prepare your bicycle for mounting by removing the bicycles front tire exposing the bicycles’ “Fork” (refer to your
Bicycles Manual for proper tire removal).
Loosen the Tension Nut located on the Fork Mounts’ [J] Skewer and conrm the Quick Release Arm is in
the “Open” position [Fg. 16]. Lower your bicycles fork onto the skewer and secure your bicycle by tighten the
Tension Nut and moving the Quick Release Arm to the “Closed” position [Fg. 17].
BICYCLE MOUNTING
The D-Ring [F] can be installed either directly into the carrier oor or can be installed into the Aerbike
C-Channel [A] depending on the AerBikes kits to be installed.
Install the D-Ring [F] into either the oor [Fg.13] or C-Channel [A] [Fg. 14] using the existing
hardware mounted in the oor of the carrier.
Using one hooked end, connect the Adjustable
Bungee [G] to the D-Ring [F] installed in STEP 1.

REAR TIRE: With the bicycle securely mounted to the Fork mount [E], stretch and connect the hook
on the Adjustable Bungee [G] to the frame of the bicycle.
To Avoid Personal Injury or Damage And Loss To Your
Bicycle and/or Carrier, All Hardware And Connections
Must Be Fully Secured Before Transit.
Before Transit: Conrm The Fork Mount [J] Skewer Is In The
“CLOSED POSITION” And The Bicycle Is Properly Secured
To Avoid Loss And Damage To The Carrier And/Or Bicycle Or
Personal Injury.
