LEXAM 1548 User manual

Your new safe has a 12-digit serial number that is located on the front bottom right hand
corner. Please locate this number and write it in the space below:
Now please recheck this number to ensure it has been transcribed correctly.
You will need to store this number in a secure place - not inside your safe.
Your Combination
Your new safe has had the combination pre-set at our factory. We pre-set our safe
combinations to a random set of numbers for your security. Each safe has a different number.
There are one million different combinations. The combination for your safe is
on a card included with these instructions.
Locate this card, write the number down and store it with your important papers.
For security purposes we suggest that you do not write your combination on these
instructions. Treat this number as you do a credit card or bank account pin number.

INSTRUCTIONS
Operating Instructions
Thank you for purchasing your new safe. This safe is equipped with a commercial grade
Lexam 1548 combination lock. This is a Group 2 combination lock and consequently is
more secure than the average combination lock fitted to many domestic safes.
As this is a commercial grade product, if you lose or forget your combination and do not
have your serial number, you will need to engage the services of a professional locksmith
to “crack” or open your safe. This may cause damage to the safe and make it unusable.
“Cracking” a safe is a lengthy process that takes a professional locksmith multiple hours so
is likely to be an expensive service. This is not covered by your warranty.
For this reason, it is important to read and complete the following requirements.
Important first steps
1. Check the packaging to ensure that you have all of the contents. You will have
your new safe, these instructions and a business card sized card with the combi
nation of this safe written on it and a fire/heat resistant pouch. It is important that
you have located all of these.
2. You will need to test that your safe is in working order before you start to install it.
3. The safe needs to be installed in an upright position. It will not work consistently in
stalled on its side or upside down.

Opening your safe
1.Locate the combination card that came with your safe so that you know the number
2.Rotate the dial to the left (counter clockwise) at least four complete revolutions.
This clears the dial. Stop on the zero.
3.Now rotate the dial left (counter clockwise) and pass your first combination number
three times. On the fourth rotation stop exactly on your first combination number.
4.Now rotate the dial to the right (clockwise) past your second combination number
twice and stop exactly on the second combination on the third rotation.
5.Now rotate the dial to the left (counter clockwise) and pass the third number of your
combination once and stop exactly on the third number on the second rotation.
6.Now rotate the dial to the right until it stops.
7.Turn the handle to open your safe.
Opening your safe
1. Close the door and turn the handle to the locked position.
2. Rotate the dial to the left (counter clockwise) at least four revolutions.
This clears the dial ready for the next time you need to access your safe.
We suggest that you practice opening and closing your safe multiple times before
you install it in its final position.

Maintenance
This is a commercial quality safe. There are no user serviceable parts inside your
safe or lock. The Lexam 1548 lock is a robust lock that has been in service for more
than 20 years. It will require little or no servicing. In the event of lock failure or
damage it will need to be serviced by a qualified locksmith.
If you wish to clean your safe, use a damp cloth on the outside and a hand vacuum
to clean the inner surfaces. Never use liquid or sprays to clean either the outer or
inner of your safe.
Fire Resistance
Your new safe is rated fire resistant for 30 minutes. In the event of fire your safe will
get hot. Your new safe comes with a fire/heat resistant pouch. This pouch has been
designed to further protect polymer banknotes from heat. Whilst the ignition point of
polymer bank notes is higher than that of paper banknotes, they can under certain
circumstances melt and stick together in a fire. Putting polymer banknotes in this
pouch inside your new safe gives added fire and heat protection.
