SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Please read these safety precautions carefully before using the

MOVING AND LIFTING THE
MONITOR
When moving or lifting the monitor, follow these instructions to
prevent the monitor from being scratched or damaged and to ensure
safe transportation, regardless of its shape or size.
yIt is advisable to place the monitor in the original box or packing
material before attempting to move it.
yBefore moving or lifting the monitor, disconnect the power cord
and all cables.
yWhen holding the monitor, the screen should face away from you
to avoid damage.
yHold the top and bottom of the monitor frame rmly. Do not hold
the panel itself.
yWhen transporting the monitor, do not expose the monitor to jolts
or excessive vibration.
yWhen moving the monitor, keep it upright and never turn the
monitor on its side or tilt it sideways.
yDo not apply excessive pressure to cause exing /bending of frame
chassis as it may damage screen.
CAUTION
yAvoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage
to the screen.
yDo not carry the monitor upside-down by holding the stand body
(or stand base) as this may cause it to fall o, resulting in damage
or injury.
yWhen handling the monitor, be careful not to damage the

INSTALLING THE MONITOR
CAUTION
yWhen attaching the stand to the monitor set, place the screen
facing down on a cushioned table or at surface to protect the
screen from scratches.
yApplying excessive force when tightening screws may cause
damage to the monitor. Damage caused in this way will not be
covered by the product manufacturer’s warranty.
yIf you use the monitor panel without the stand base, its button may
cause the monitor to become unstable and fall, resulting in damage
to the monitor or human injury. In addition, this may cause the
button to malfunction.
yDo not apply foreign substances (oils, lubricants, etc.) to the screw
parts when assembling the product. (Doing so may damage the
product.)
NOTE
yRemove the stand before installing the monitor on a wall mount by
performing the stand attachment in reverse.
yTo protect the screen from scratches, cover the surface with a soft
cloth.

Using the Kensington security system
(optional)

provided with the Kensington security system or visit http://www.
kensington.com. Connect the Kensington security system cable
between the monitor and a table.
NOTE
yThe Kensington security system is optional. You can obtain
additional accessories from most electronics stores.
MOUNTING ON A WALL
For proper ventilation, allow a clearance of 100 mm on each side and
from the wall. Detailed installation instructions are available from
your dealer, see the optional TiltWall Mounting Bracket Installation
and Setup Guide.

To install the monitor to a wall, attach a wall mounting bracket
(optional) to the back of the monitor. Make sure that the wall
mounting bracket is securely xed to the monitor and to the wall.

the monitor to fall. LG Electronics is not liable for any accidents

Your monitor supports the * feature and has the built-in
speakers withVirtual Surround that reproduces sound clearly with a
rich bass.
* :The function when a PC recognises a connected
device that users connect to a PC and turn on, without device
conguration or user intervention.
NOTE
yFor the best picture quality, connect the external device and the
monitor with the HDMI cable.
yThe monitor may icker when turned on in an area where the
temperature is low.This is normal.
ySometimes red, green, or blue spots may appear on the screen.
This is normal.
yDo not press the screen for a prolonged time. This may cause image
distortion.
yDo not display a still image on the screen for a prolonged time.This
may cause image retention. Use a screensaver if possible.
Other connections
Some separate cables are not provided. For the best picture and audio
quality, connect the external device and the monitor with the HDMI
cable.
yUSB port supports 0.5A electric current. If you need more electric
current in case of HDD, use the separate power adaptor.
Connecting to a PC

yIf you want to use HDMI-PC mode, you must set the [Input Label]
to [PC] mode.
yThe OSD (On Screen Display) is displayed on the screen as shown

REMOTE CONTROL
(Some buttons and services may not be provided depending on
models or regions.)
The descriptions in this manual are based on the buttons on the
remote control. Please read this manual carefully and use the monitor
correctly. To install batteries, open the battery cover, replace batteries
(1.5V AAA) matching the and ends to the label inside the
compartment, and close the battery cover. To remove the batteries,
perform the installation actions in reverse.
Make sure to point the remote control toward the remote control
sensor on the monitor.
CAUTION
yDo not mix old and new batteries, as this may damage the remote
control.
yIn Analogue monitor and some countries, some remote control
buttons may not work.
yThe remote control will not be included for all sales market.
(Power) Turn the power on or o.

SETTING THE MONITOR
Turning the monitor on for the rst time
When you access the monitor for the rst time, the initial setting
screen appears. Select a language and customise the basic settings.
1 Connect the power cord to a power outlet.
2 Standby Light is turned on. Set the buttons on the monitor
or press the (Power), , , Number
buttons on the remote control to turn the monitor on. The
Standby Light is turned o.
3 The initial setting screen appears if you access the monitor for the
rst time.
4 Follow the on-screen instructions to customise your monitor
according to your preferences.
[Language] Selects a language for the display.
[Mode Setting] Selects [Home Use] for the home
environment.
[Standby Light]
Selects the [Standby Light]. If you select [On],
the monitor turns on the standby light in the
front panel when the monitor is o.
NOTE
yYou can also access [Factory Reset] by accessing option in the main
menus.
yIf you do not operate the monitor within 40 seconds when the
setting menu screen appears, the setting menus will disappear.
yTo display images in the best quality for your home environment,
select [Home Use] mode.
y[Store Demo] mode is suitable for the retail environment.
CAUTION
yDisconnect the power cord from the power outlet when you do not
use the monitor for a long period of time.
SETTINGS
To use Energy Saving feature
[PICTURE] [Energy Saving]
Reduces power consumption by adjusting screen brightness.
y[O]: Turns o the Energy Saving mode.
y[Minimum]/[Medium]/[Maximum]: Applies the pre-set Energy
Saving mode.
y[Screen O]: Screen is turned o and only sound is played. Press
any button except Power button on the remote control to turn the
screen back on.
To select Picture Mode
[PICTURE] [Picture Mode]
Select the picture mode optimised for the viewing environment or
the programme.
y[Vivid]: Heightens contrast, brightness and sharpness to display
vivid images.
y[Standard]: Displays images in standard levels of contrast,
brightness and sharpness.
y[Eco]/[APS]: (Depending on model) The Energy Saver feature
changes settings on the monitor to reduce power consumption.
y[Cinema]/[Game]: Displays the optimum picture for movie, game.
y[Sport]: Optimises the video image for high and dynamic actions by

To set advanced control
[PICTURE] [Picture Mode] [Advanced
Control]/[Expert Control]
Calibrates the screen for each picture mode; or adjusts picture settings
for a special screen. First select a [Picture Mode] of your choice.
y[Dynamic Contrast]: Adjusts the contrast to the optimal level
according to the brightness of the image.
y[Dynamic Colour]: Adjusts colours to make the image appear in
more natural colours.
y[Colour Gamut]: Selects the range of colours that can be expressed.
y[Skin Colour]: Sets Skin colour spectrum separately to implement
the skin colour as dened by the user.
y[Sky Colour]: Sky colour is set separately.
y[Grass Colour]: Natural colour spectrum (meadows, hills, etc.) can
be separately set.
y[Gamma]: Sets the gradation curve according to the output of
picture signal in relation to the input signal.

to suit the black level of the input picture by using the blackness
(black level) of the screen.
y[Real Cinema]: Optimises the screen for movie viewing.
y[Motion Eye Care]: (Depending on model) Automatically adjusts
brightness and reduces image blur based on image data to reduce
eyestrain.

To set Picture Reset

Resets picture settings that the user customises. Each picture mode is
reset. Select the desired picture mode to reset.
To use Sound Mode
[AUDIO] [Sound Mode]
Adjusts monitor audio to an optimal level based on a selected sound
mode.
y[Standard]: Suitable for all types of video.
y[News]/[Music]/[Cinema]/[Sport]/[Game]: Sets audio optimised for
a specic genre.
To synchronise audio and video
[AUDIO] [AV Sync. Adjust]
(Depending on model)
Synchronises video and audio directly when they do not match.
yIf you set [AV Sync. Adjust] to [On], you can adjust the sound output
(Speakers) to the screen image.
To use SIMPLINK
SIMPLINK is a feature that enables you to control and manage various
multimedia devices conveniently via the SIMPLINK menu.
1 Connect the monitor’s terminal and the SIMPLINK
device’s HDMI output terminal using an HDMI cable.
2 Select [SimpLink]. SIMPLINK menu window
appears.
3 In SIMPLINK Setting window, set SIMPLINK function to [On].
4 In SIMPLINK menu window, selects the device you want to control.
yThis function is only compatible with devices with the SIMPLINK
logo.
yTo use the SIMPLINK function, you need to use a high speed HDMI®
cable (with CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature added). High
speed HDMI®cables have the No. 13 pin connected for information
exchange between devices.
yIf you switch to another input, the SIMPLINK device will stop.
yIf a third-party device with the HDMI-CEC function is also used, the
SIMPLINK device may not work normally.
yIf you select or play media from a the device with a home theatre
function, the [HT Speaker] is automatically connected.

To set password
[LOCK] [Set Password]
Sets or changes the monitor password.
The initial password is set to ‘0000’.
To return Initial Setting
[OPTION] [Factory Reset]
All stored information is deleted and monitor settings are reset.The
monitor turns itself o and back on, and all settings are reset.
yWhen [Lock System] is in place, a pop-up window appears and asks
for password.
yDo not turn o the power during initialisation.
To remove the USB device
[USB Device]
Select a USB storage device that you want to remove. When you see a
message that the USB device has been removed, separate the device
from the monitor.
yOnce a USB device has been selected for removal, it can no longer
be read. Remove the USB storage device and then re-connect it.
Using a USB storage device - warning
yIf the USB storage device has a built-in auto recognition program or
uses its own driver, it may not work.
ySome USB storage devices may not work or may work incorrectly.
yUse only USB storage devices formatted with theWindows FAT32 or
NTFS File System.
yFor external USB HDDs, it is recommended that you use devices
with a rated voltage of less than 5V and a rated current of less than
500mA.
yIt is recommended that you use USB memory sticks of 32GB or less
and USB HDDs of 1TB or less.
yIf a USB HDD with power-saving function does not work properly,
turn the power o and on. For more information, refer to the user
manual of the USB HDD.
yData in the USB storage device can be damaged, so be sure to back
up important les to other devices. Data maintenance is the user’s
responsibility and the manufacturer is not responsible for data loss.

MAINTENANCE
Cleaning your monitor
Clean your monitor regularly to keep the best performance and to
extend the product lifespan.
yMake sure to turn the power o and disconnect the power cord and
all other cables rst.
yWhen the monitor is left unattended and unused for a long time,
disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet to prevent possible
damage from lightning or power surges.
Screen, frame, cabinet and stand
To remove dust or light dirt, wipe the surface with a dry, clean, and
soft cloth. To remove major dirt, wipe the surface with a soft cloth
dampened in clean water or a diluted mild detergent. Then wipe
immediately with a dry cloth.
yAvoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage
to the screen.
yDo not push, rub, or hit the surface with your ngernail or a sharp
object, as this may result in scratches on the screen and image
distortions.
yDo not use any chemicals as this may damage the product.
yDo not spray liquid onto the surface. If water enters the monitor, it
may result in re, electric shock, or malfunction.
Power cord
Remove the accumulated dust or dirt on the power cord regularly.
Preventing “Image burn” or “Burn-in” on
your monitor screen
yIf a xed image displays on the monitor screen for a long period of
time, it will be imprinted and become a permanent disgurement
on the screen.This is“image burn”or“burn-in”and not covered by
the warranty.
yIf the aspect ratio of the monitor is set to 4:3 for a long period of
time, image burn may occur on the letterboxed area of the screen.
NOTE
yAvoid keeping a xed image on the set’s screen for prolonged
periods of time.The xed image may become permanently
imprinted on the screen. Use a screen saver when possible.
yThere may be interference relating to resolution, vertical pattern,
contrast or brightness in PC mode. Change the PC mode to another
resolution or change the refresh rate to another rate or adjust the
brightness and contrast on the menu until the picture is clear. If the
refresh rate of the PC graphic card can not be changed, change the
PC graphic card or consult the manufacturer of the PC graphic card.
yIf using a sound card, adjust PC sound as required.
yDOS mode may not work depending on the video card if you use an
HDMI to DVI cable.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Cannot control the monitor with the remote control.
yCheck the remote control sensor on the product and try again.
yCheck if there is any obstacle between the product and the remote
control.
yCheck if the batteries are still working and properly installed (
to , to ).
No image display and no sound is produced.
yCheck if the product is turned on.
yCheck if the power cord is connected to a wall outlet.
yCheck if there is a problem in the wall outlet by connecting other
products.
The monitor turns o suddenly.
yCheck the power control settings.The power supply may be
interrupted.
yCheck if the auto-o function is activated on the settings related
time.
yIf there is no signal while the monitor is on, the monitor will turn
o automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity.
When connecting to the PC (HDMI), [No signal] or [Invalid
Format] is displayed.
yTurn the monitor o/on using the remote control.
yReconnect the HDMI cable.
yRestart the PC with the monitor on.
If monitor is turned o automatically.
yIf [OnTime] is enabled, the monitor will be turned on at the
specied time. If you do not operate the monitor for two hours, the
monitor will be turned o automatically.
yTo disable this function, use your remote control to go to
[TIME] [Auto O(On Time)] [O].
